What is even sadder is that many of those with depression are sufferring from an unrecognized nutritional deficiency syndrome which can be treated with certain very specific vitamins and supplements giving relief sometimes within days. These vitamins and supplements affect neurological functioning, often before there are any other signs. I had sufferred from lifelong depression. I can tell you the day and time it ended as it was shortly after taking a specific brand of a specific vitamin. After 55 years of depression I haven't been depressed in 5 1/2 years.

Can you tell me what brand and vitamin that was?

If I had relied solely on talk therapy, I'd be dead. In addition to depression, I suffer from panic attacks. Medication has achieved far more at a much lower cost than talking about my endogenous disease.

I could have won. the lottery and remained miserable. Talk therapy was a waste of time.

Where exactly is it that you are reading that anyone is promoting taking pills and nothing else to treat depression?

Depression is often a symptom of problems in a persons life. Financial, social, physical. Treating depression needs to be mutli-faceted, addressing the underlying symptoms as well. A person feeling helpless, hopeless, stuck is very likely to become depressed. The whole pill pushing, take two and call me in the morning approach isn't enough.
