CAPITOL LETTER

A Curiously Silent Screamer

Howard Dean has been oddly quiet lately while intraparty squabbling over the Dems' primary calendar escalates. What gives?

Absolutely! Why is Dean not accepting any responsibility in this matter and doing everything possible to ensure the votes of Michigan and Florida residents are counted. However, Barak Obama claims he will create change and by directly undermining all existing structures with his subversive behavior of the residents of Florida and Michigan, he carves a hole into democracy and the Democratic Party. All in the name of personal gain and power! It begs the question if the Democratic Party can afford to lose the Presidential election and the respect of the American people due to Obama's presidential campaign effort to win at all costs.

As a Vermonter, I find Howard Dean to be an enigma. His abrupt rise to presidential candidate last time 'round was not so puzzling as was his national personae which just didn't jive with his real performance as govenor. I can not ay that I was able to glean any impression of the man in the Vermont media beyond being a pro-business, pragmatic moderate, not the extreme-left, whacky nut-job that the national media and politicians portrayed him as, and he seemed so willing to assume.
Once again, puzzlement, over his bizarre stance over the Florida primary thing. You're right, What Gives? Been asking that all along.

Dr. Dean is a puzzling phenomenon (this coming from a Vermonter), but so was his dramatic rise as a political candidate, last time 'round. It was weird, the whole time he was governor, he was not personable enough for me to ever have felt like I had much sense of who he was, other than being pro-business, pragmatic and moderate. I definitely didn't have the image of him that became his outspoken national personae. To hear of him characterized as this whacko, far-left wing-nut by the media and politicians just didn't jive with the reality of his job as the Green Mountain state's governor. So it goes with the whole Florida voter's thing.

    Eleanor,

You are obviously a person who agrees with insiders as opposed to outsiders. People like you have been all over Howard Dean right from the start.

I think that Howard is right in carrying out his duty to abide by the DNC's rules and regulations. I think that it is shameful of you (and others) , to say that just because Florida is a big, swing state, that we should just let them have their way with whatever they want to do. Bull! If Florida Dems want to rebel by voting Republican in the General Election, LET THEM! It is not like they are a strong Democratic state anyway. And, the Republicans could just as likely win Florida in the General Election no matter what Howard and the DNC does. That's why it is called a swing state, Eleanor!

THEY HAVE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!
