Give her a break and let her try to redeem herself. I'm not a big fan of hers but I do give people the chance for redemption. I've never been but I assume prison can grow someone up in a hurry.

I never thought much one way or the other about Paris Hilton until the recent flap about her jail sentence, so I have no axe to grind in either direction, but I think it's a pretty strange phenomena that many people seem to prefer that Ms. Hilton fail in her efforts to be a better person...or that they see the need to criticize whatever positive endeavors she has decided to pursue. If a work or effort does something worthwhile should it be criticized for "not being worthwhile enough"? Who are we to decide what is or isn't a genuine and worthy cause or effort. Wouldn't it be wiser and more humane to withhold judgement and wait to see if Ms. Hilton's actions are effective? To criticize her for considering the personal acknowledgement and attention she might receive seems rather small-minded - not to mention totally unrealistic...at this point we all should know that whatever she does will attract the media and to some extend just about everyone will read see or hear about it. And anyway, is it reasonable to expect a complete, 180-degree metamorphis to occur in ANYONE in what is really just one small time-segment of their life? Long journeys generally start with small steps and not one of us knows for sure what the result of Ms. Hilton's next steps in her journey will produce. Why would anyone begrudge her the opportunity to at least TRY? What IF her efforts DID happen to result in an increase of awareness to the Rwandan situation and somehow served to improve the lives of children in that country? Even if she fails, would it be a bad thing to have tried? It's easy to sit there at your keyboard and question her sincerity...it's just as easy to sit at mine and give her the benefit of the doubt and just wait and see how this idea progresses...unless of course your real problem with Paris Hilton is some sort of weird envy or you refuse to recognize that there is the potential within any human being to be a better, more caring and giving person and to change their lives for the better. Sit back and give this person a chance - it isn't likely to harm you or cost you anything - and who knows, you might learn something?

I absolutely agree w/Sherjami. Further, even though your allowance could fund a chair at a university, why don't you go to college, and get a degree in the humanities. With that knowledge you could then do things that may be really useful to humanity, besides lining your purse.
Heres a thought, Paris. Instead of viewing Africa's poor children, why not establish an AMERICAN charity, in your name of course, and feed and clothe the poor in your own country? Your great American name could do great things for Americans - instead of following the celebrities who would all rather help the poor around the world than see or help the poor here back home. There are alot of us out here who would benefit from a month's worth of medication, a paid doctor or dentist visit, a month's worth of food, etc. If you really are going to make 250 million in the next year or so, why not set up a charity in each and every state and donate 2 million to each? That still leaves you 150 million. And that money could save lives, saves homes, save people...here in America. Start a new trend- take care of your own before you take care of the world. That, my dear, would be the best thing you could ever do.
With enough training, anyone can act. Paris and Lindsey... giving up those bad people, so they can show true brilliance. The cash cow will be metamorphed and continue putting out. It's on a roll and can't be stopped... no effort there. Yes, using celebrity to help Africa... be better if she showed she actually cared, instead of afraid of the cuisine. How dumb? She's brilliant enough to hire other people to make her over, make her celebrity, make her money... she's just a human being, fortunate and followed. She could make money by appearing on her balcony looking down at the masses. Sorry, but another press article doesn't prove anything. Finding her own charity, approaching them herself, working for them as they direct (and not their publicists), contributing millions (she'll make more next year)... would do better than another comedic puff piece.

The poor in America live like kings compared to the squalor and unimaginable conditions in third world countries. No welfare, no electricity, no running water , scarce food supplies. We are all connected and come from the same dna. Even our pets live better! Please see beyond our borders and recognize the suffering of those that are unable, for various reasons, to help themselves.

When all the "STARS" are reforming their lives-WHY do ALL of then think by going to Africa makes them a better person ???? Let's see some of them go to the homless ---hungry children---children left in foster care for most of their learning lives. Why can't PARIS, and all the rest spend their money here in the good ole USA????????????? I do volunteer work at a center for for all of the above---you should see the little children with smiles on there little faces when we give them clothes, food, toys. We have voluteers from trouble schools-instead of being kicked out and forgotten---they do their "time" with us, letting them see what we do for all the needy========and get this-all is free--we are run by all volunteers---sometime we run short and we can pray that GOD will help us to supply the things people will need when they walk in-and they are not made to feel that they have to drop their heads--we have smiles for them-----now wanna help Paris and all the rest of the so called hollywood should be's---We are in great need ==by going to Africa and pouring your money out does not make you look better in our eyes--not when we see the forgotten right here in in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA

WELL THAT WAS A WASTE OF MY TIME...I AGREE WITH THE OTHER POSTS...WHY GIVE A BLONDE BIMBO THAT MUCH....NO.....ANY ATTENTION. SHE WOULD JUST WITHER UP AND DIE IF AMERICAN MEDIA JUST TURNED OFF ALL CAMERAS AND IGNORED HER....SHE'D GO NUTS. NOW THATS A STORY WORTH READING!
When you mentioned that Britney,Lindsay and Paris were sitting in a car, you should have asked the readers"Who was driving?" Then answer of course, is the police. But seriously, I don't think she's changed a bit, if you notice she says in one breath she's going to Rwanda to bring the troubled African nation to everyone's attention. But then she says she's filming it so people will see what everyday life is for "ME",, that "I" work hard and to shatter misconceptions about "ME". Everything is still about Paris, even in Rwanda. The young lady still has alot of growing up to do.
Leave this Paris character to her therapist and People Magazine. I read Newsweek to be informed about people and nations trying to resolve some of the murderous problems of humanity we are experiencing as well as cultural issues and trends. She would not be half the idiot she is if news organs like Newsweek did not give her so much coverage. I'm sure there is another Sister Teresa, an enviromental issue, a family in Darfur which is much more deserving of your coverage than some poor little rich girl who can't find herself.
Who gives a S**T!!!! I'm thinking there's more important things in the world to read about. It's a sad day when paris hilton gets top billing on the news. I'm ashamed.
1. Paris Hilton I love you 24/7, no matter what anyone says or thinks about you.
2. I love the fact that you and I share something awesome in common, we believe in Jesus Christ and we are not ashamed to say so as you confessed and professed your Christian faith on Larry King Live on CNN and I felt like kissing you.
3. Your destiny is not in the stars, but in your own hands.
I give you my sweet kisses and red roses.
Go Girl!
