The whole issue of Hillary's marriage has nothing to do with that she is capable. The only reason the entire world knows anything is due to politics

What a surprise, another attempt by the media to tear down another candidate thru character assignation. Why are we not concentrating on the real issues? Is this journalism or tabloid news? I thought Newsweek was a serious source for news and information. If we dig deep enough we will find that none of these candidates are perfect, and they all may have ghost in their closets. I want to know were these candidates stand on the REAL issues not who or what they sleep with or if they cry at the end Bambi. I thought Newsweek was better than this, guess not.

It saddens me to see comments regarding Hillary restoring family values when there is none in her family. The Clintons use each other and anyone else they can con to get where they want to go. Has American forgotten Whitewater, Tyson Chicken, Vince Foster, Monica, or the Clintons attempting to steal the china from the White House??? Incidents like these reflect the true "family values" of Hillary Clinton. This is a power hungry woman who would step in the face of her own mother to promote herself a quarter of an inch higher in the public's eye. She is just as phony has her husband. The world wide opinion of America--the Nation-- would not be in jeopardy at this time had Bill Clinton done his job and stopped Osama when he had the opportunity, but he was so busy trying to stagger out from in front of Monica and for some reason "didn't want to het his hands dirty???" NO NEED FOR A REPEAT OF THESE VALUES IN THE WHITE HOUSE, THEY MADE US LOOK LIKE THE BACK END OF A DONKEY FOR 8 YEARS ALREADY.

"Unthinking emotion has always been pitiful to me......................" the First Lady is a woman determined not to surrender to emotion, even when her husband and the nation have. "
Maybe the Vulcans really are here among us. Is that the way she would run the Presidency? Denial is not the way to form policy or lead a nation. It can set a dangerous precedent. Worse yet, it can kill people. This is scary!

Csquare - Judging from your description, you are talking about our current president who lacks the moral precedent to consider the implications of sending our young men and women into a conflict over oil under the auspices of non-existing weapons of mass destruction. To me personally, it is more dangerous to compare leadership with "staying the course" without considering all of the evidence surrounding it which tells you it's not working. That's not steadfast leadership in my opinion. It's unproductive to try the same things over and over again expecting different results. Great leaders aren't always successful, they are the ones who have the character, integrity, and moral fortitude to admit to their mistakes or failures and then pursue and alternate course. Yes, the Clinton's have made mistakes...haven't we all? How else do we grow as a people?

I think it would be great to have either one of them in office; they can't do any worse than the present administration. Due to the current administration's (foreign and domestic) policies, we are now one of the most hated countries in the world. We are in a severe recession (almost depression) due to the was that never should have happened. More businesses have moved overseas now more than ever, and the rich are getting richer and the middle-class poorer (just to name a few). I can't see how anyone can top Bush's bad record!!!

Jo, if the Clintons turn the WH into a whorehouse, they won't be the first occupants to have done so. Besides, I had much rather have a sex addict in the oval office than a murderer, draft dodger who sends someone else's kids off to war, among other descriptions.

Come back Bill; all is forgiven!

    • Posted By: KDawg @ 10/16/2007 10:17:47 AM

Under the Clinton Administration (who by the way imarose, was also a draft dodger) we saw the beginning of an exodus of American jobs and the start of offshore outsourcing (thanks to NAFTA). It was the impression of the Clinton Administration that "A global economy will bring added opportunities for Americans." If you are in the middle class you now realize how wrong that is. The Clinton Administration also holds the distinction of having been in the most global armed conflicts than any past or current administration. Additionally, the Kyoto protocol was on Mr Clinton's desk. Yet it was not signed.

There is a very convenient forgetfulness as far as what actually happened during the Clinton years. The Terrorist attacks (World Trade Center I, US embassies in Africa, USS Cole), that dramatic pop of the tech bubble and its effect on the economy due to lax oversight, NAFTA etc.

I think its time for the US to start thinking about competence over nostalgia or celebrity. Maybe even a third party. One that will invest here instead of looking to make the most profit.

I am not looking forward to another Bush/Clinton/Kennedy or basically any other presidency that is putting someone who has never had a real job in the driver's seat. No more career politicians. Do your community service like the founding fathers and then go back to your job/careers. You shouldn't be entitled to a job in politics because of your name. Or nostalgia.

        KDawg,

Your argument with regard to offshoring really hits a sore point with me and is one of the pivotal points in which I digress with from the Democratic agenda. We are responsible for the marketability of our skill sets in this world and unfortunately we have been sleeping at the wheel, while Asian and Eastern European countries are producing more and better trained engineers and information technology resources than we are because our choices are many times made by how much money one can make after college and since the money is no longer there, students are veering away from those careers. This is a tragedy because engineers and scientists are those who drive innovation and we're loosing the edge. We are at a tipping point with regard to our educational systems. We really need to revisit whether we are turning out well educated, critical thinking individuals whom are able to take charge of their careers no matter what happens. Unions in this country have priced our resources and products out of the market. When I see the strikes at the automanufacturers it makes me furious because what the Unions don't realize is that instead of working with our industry, they are destroying it. I would also argue that people working in Corporate America have made the sacrifices in higher medical costs and salary reductions in lieu of those working in trades. The bottom line is we need to get away from blaming others for our demise and retool our workforce and find other opportunities and niches that we still excel in. For all of this we need leadership with true character, ability, know how, and someone who has been through the paces. That is most certainly Hillary Clinton, whom should be judged on her merits, not those of her husband.

have YOU forgotten who tried to get 5 deferments, and then became a "Draft Dodger"? It was Clinton.
You need to understand that a sexual addict(like Kennedy also) can easily be blackmailed and America becomes compromised by this behavior, and lack of control while managing the "people's house-The Whitehouse". You, are among the many Clinton Apologists, who have the attitudes, if it feels good, do it, at any expense, and come back as all is forgiven. If he had less sex while in the Whitehouse, and kept HIS eyes on the Terrorism Ball, along with Hillary, we would NOT have been attacked on 9/ll-Which was because of the Clinton ineptness in handling Terrorism in the first place. But you, with your head in the sand, don't look at the "Big Picture", but instead, think it's only about someone's personal addiction, so it doesn't matter. IT DOES....

I looked at the photo and thought to myself, " Grey hair, bags underneath the eyes from fatigue... Poor Bill hasn't had any for years!"

  • Posted By: stoney74 @ 10/16/2007 3:07:21 PM

Why do we keep discussing did Bill Clinton have sex in the White House or not. The point is not did Bill Clinton have "an affair", the point is did Bill Clinton tell the truth when asked by Congress and the American people. If you have to lie about or hide your actions then you probably know they are wrong. I do not care if Hillary does or does not "love" Bill, just don't blow smoke up my you know what about it. The fact is the President does not accomplish anything with out Congress and Congress does nothing without the cooperation of the President. You won't know who the best person for the job is until after they have completed at least one term. No one can please all the people all the time. Draw straws.

Hillary Clinton restores family values and national faith in this public office. Her perserverance is a great inspiration. She would be a fantastic president with her prior experiences.

Why the need to dissect the Clinton's marriage?!? What about Rudy's 3 marriages, or McCain's or any of the other candidates(Democrat or Republican) for that matter? I think it's purely the fact that she's a woman candidate with the White House within her grasp - How sexist is that?!? I thought Newsweek was better than this...
