More Vicious Than Rape

The atrocity reports from eastern Congo were so hellish that Western medical experts refused to believe them—at first.

I don't know what can be done to stop this, for every idea I come up with I can come up with a reason that it is unworkable. Since this article is 2 years old, obviously the U.S. has no interst in the area, workable answers or even any worldwide reputation left to interfere in this. Isn't this sort of thing that the U.N. is supposed to be policing? Between starvation, genocide, rampant HIV ( idiots over there think having sex with a virgin will cure them) and yes, why is it that women and children ALWAYS pay for the evil that Men do? Just rape is ugly enough in itself,I cant imagine living with what these women are having to live with. If they cannot govern themselves then the UN sshould install a government that can. It's crazy that they have all these natural resources and so much poverty.

Thankyou Peacelady for the information of how we can do something, we need to know more about about how we can actually help. I read these articles and like you i am heartbroken, I want to quit my life and go help, but I don't know where to start. I will look at healafrica.org. Thank you again

When I initially read this article, I felt heartbroken and helpless. Is there anything at all that we can do to make any sort of difference in the midst of this tragedy when all international agencies have evacuated their staff? So when a friend who had actually traveled to Congo told me today about one hospital in Goma that has stayed open all through the crisis and continues to serve the Congolese women even in the midst of the fighting, I had to post its website here for all who had a similar reaction and who want to do more than feel terrible for a minute. If you are in that category, please go to http://healafrica.org

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

The people doing this are animals and deserve nothing more than to be put down like animals. Terrorists, despots and tyrants understand only one thing: raw, naked force. When you want to negotiate with them you walk up to them an hit them in the face with a hammer, then you negotiate.

This article is two years old. Is anyone else curious as to why it is on the "most viewed" latest news list today? Did they find a huge new oilfield in Congo that must be made safe for democracy, or what?

  • Posted By: justanotherprimate @ 10/31/2008 11:48:59 AM

Siege6529: Because oil is more valuable than little brown girls who live far away. Congo has nothing we want. Maybe if we could convince Osama bin Laden to take a vacation to Congo, then the US would do something about it.

How could Iraq have been considered more important than this?

  • Posted By: ChillinChilson @ 10/31/2008 11:18:38 AM

It makes me sick to think that our special ops teams and armed forces are hunting down some rich idiot Osama sitting a palace in God know's where doing who the heck cares what when there's people out there in countries like this dying and being brutally molested every day. When will their voices be heard and who will be the one to help them? These women deserve justice and to know that these scumbags hiding out there in the woods are being hunted down and massacred for their crimes! We need to get the heck out of Iraq so we can use more of our special ops teams to help the victims of these heartless and brutal wars that are all but forgotten here in America today. Enough is enough!

If the only time and place in history where women and girls were systematically raped as a consequence of war was in post-colonial Africa, the argument for the evils of Western dominion might be justified. This kind of atrocity, unfortunately, is not exclusive to Africans. The barrier separating humans from beasts seems to be pretty thin among men of all nations. Women do not do these things. Even if they could, they wouldn't. Women don't start the wars, but they always pay the price. It has never taken a very large push to take men over to the other side of the barrier. The urge for war is easily satisfied, and your wives, grandmothers and baby girls are the battlefield. I am ashamed to be a human.

  • Posted By: newdoc17 @ 10/31/2008 11:00:47 AM

Why? Because the "people" running these terrorist camps are not people at all. They are sociopathic animals, less human than the average dog. The terrorists are unsalvagable, and should be destroyed, put down, like rabid dogs.

  • Posted By: Intelligent @ 10/30/2008 6:31:06 PM

My God - who taught these people to do this? What happened to them when they were colonized that brought out such demonic, horrific treatment? Would this be allowed if it were happening in Greece? In Italy?

    • Posted By: rs7302 @ 10/31/2008 4:01:50 AM

Why is it automatically assumed that the "Evil Westerners" must have tought these animals how to do this? Every problem that exists in Africa is not a direct result of the colonial era. Last time I checked, humans have never needed anyone to teach us how to be vicious.
