If i had 1 child with autism then i would not be "popping" another 1 out, just a typical case of a woman trying to entrap a man for life with a bunch of kids so she wont have to work and actually help her family out!!!

My four year old son flaps his hands, rocks and covers his ears when he is over stimulated. He obsesses about fire trucks and has compulsions. He lacks eye control and is hyperactive. Even though these are classic sighns of Autism, we don't call him autistic. We just call him William. We do some things differently, but we are used to it because these behaviors run in the family. It's been that way for generations. We just find ways to compensate for our "abnormalities", ways that let us fit in with the rest of society. I don't know what the big deal about all this is. Some of us are just different, and society is trying to make all children fit into one mold.

Ikie, do some research before you post your unbacked opinions on a nationwide forum. We have more immunizations today than when I was a child, and the preservatives in them are different as well. Autism is not a "new" disease, the medical community has just put a name to it, like every other condition. Downs is a genetic disorder- a chromosomal abnormality- and has nothing to do with Autism. It doesn't "have" to be birth control pills, as I know parents of Autistic children who have never taken oral contraceptives, and neither have their parents. Until you become a research scientist with an extensive medical background, don't embarass yourself any further.

Autism was unheard of when I was growing up or even when I gave birth to my own children. It has to be environmental. We had the same innoculations that children have now and no one suffered with autism. There were Downs Syndrome children and some mental retardation but autism is a "new disease". Surely scientists are looking at all of the chemicals we are putting into our bodies and our children's bodies as an answer. The same thing has happened with "childless" couples. Why can't couples have babies anymore and have to resort to AI? Thirty-forty years ago, very few couples, who wanted to have children were unable to conceive. It has to be the chemicals ie birth control pills women have been taking for the past 40 years....that have made them infertile. Think about it.

My son is mildly Autistic. He is in a special class. He wasn`t diagnosed having Autism until he was older than3. We lived in Mass. and it was not until we moved to Florida, because of my health concerns, was he correctly diagnosed.
