Oh please, Religious people, get over yourselves. If you honestly think homosexuality is wrong and disgusting, then why is it that even animals can be homosexual? I kid you not when I say I happen to own two cats, both male, and yes, they are lovers.
JK is awesome to include this in her stories, and good on her for it.

Typical of religious folk to assume that being gay means you are evil. I hate to tell you, but I actually have two pet cats, both male, and yes, they are lovers. I kid you not.

So if animals can freely have such a relationship regardless of gender, why can't humans? I for one Applaud JK for this.

I find it quite joval when the typical "Christian" speaks out against such issues thinking they themselves have some divine hotline straight to gods lips. I myself am a Christian and have had to tell many a folk not to hate god for the ignorance of his people. I think Rowlings confession that Dumbledore was gay quite refressing, and adds to the overal appeal of her books. They are multi-faceted and relate closely to the real world interpersonal relationships we encounter on a daily basis. It doesn't change anything about the character. I can't believe that you believe that the character's sexual orientation taints and molests the series. It seems to me that you have a bit of growing up to do.

_daytripper: Being homosexual is nothing to look up to? So you're saying that being straight is? This thought process is exactly what leads to things like homosexual rehab centers, which teach people that it's not okay to be who you are. These type of centers drill the ideals of what a man and a woman ought to be by teaching traditional gender roles. Would you seriously prefer to have children taught to pretend to be a "Leave it to Beaver" type household (which simply prolongs the inevitable homosexual tendencies and causes immense mental problems) than have a positive gay role model?

I wondered about that when I read the line describing "the flamboyantly cut purple suit" in the scene where Harry and Dumbledore are using the penseive to examine Dumbledore's memory of his visit to Riddle's orphanage. :) Thanks, J.K.R., for acknowledging that there are gay people in the wizarding world, just like there are in the "real" world.

And, _daytripper, what makes you think being a homophobic bigot is something to look up to??? Sexual orientation isn't the end-all, be-all of someone's life-- merely a detail. Prejudice, on the other hand, is a serious character flaw.
