    I don't think that anyone who feels the revelation of Dumbledore's sexuality is grotesque and wrong are AFRAID of it.

    I am truly disappointed that Rowling felt she had to play the "gay card". I am and still will be a big fan of the books and movies. But, what's the point of this? Some have mentioned it's to drive sales or at least it was held back to save them. I guess it doesn't really matter anyway. The books are written and there won't be any more. There's not a single shred of evidence that Dumbledore was gay in any of them. Long after people have forgotten this pointless gaffe the books will remain, as they were, untainted and unmolested by this nonsense.

    I'm sorry, but Dumbledore suddenly being gay is absolutely ridiculous. The character is one of the most beloved, and I cannot help but feel that this is a backward way of being politically correct.
    "Ohh, you see?! There's been a homosexual in the mix all along!"
    I find it appalling and quite sad that such a statement was necessary.

    So exactly how did your kid hear the news did he pick up a copy of newsweek at the store down the street, or was he wathcing the 11 o'clock news? Besides it's about time you tell him what gay means anyway he's gonna hear it at school soon enough.

    I am shocked and appaled.

    After hearing this news, my 7 year old son (who's faveourite character was Dumbledore) has decided he wants to be gay.

    Who gives a mouses rear-end,she quit writting the Hary Potter series. So why trash one of the main characters now, for "publicity", that's why. She certainly doesn't care about all of the efffect on her readers, now does she. LOL

    If she had declared Harry gay, then I could see some outrage here. It??s one thing to promote love and equality and quite another to actually promote being gay. ON THE OTHER HAND, these days we know our children will come into contact with plenty of gay people. It??s best for them to be prepared to show them the respect and acceptance that every human deserves. If they read a book with a gay character who also happens to be gay, that will help them to deal better with gays in the real world.
    And to CLOWNSOUP; what makes you think Georgie and Dim were lovers? Did you read the book? I don??t remember anything about that???
    But anyway, we have to also learn to respect the people who are against homosexualtiy. Let??s be fair.

    J.K. Rowling has turned on untold thousands of children onto reading. In a country where playing video games, watching television and doing drugs are the main activities of our youth, shouldn't we be applauding this woman for her contribution to society? Anyone who reads should be open minded enough to handle this "revelation." After all, are not books are meant to be read and discussed? Is that not what is happening?
