This from the idiot that can???t even spell the word possibility (???poassility???, are you serioulsy that stupid, and your gay. Your life must suck.) And it is of no concern to you but I have a wonderful life filled with good, kind, morally upright friends and family members. They also (like myself) for the most part have college educations (or are in the process of getting one) and IQ???s well over 80 (unlike you). I therefore feel obligated to tell you to GET AN EDUCATION before you post any more comments and prove yourself even dumber. You realize that there are perhaps 2-3 grammatically correct sentences in all the comments you???ve posted. And I have no intention of insulting (victimization is reserved for descriptions of those who have been subjected to a crime) people based on race. I have insulted you based upon your life choices and obvious lack of intelligence and have likened you to a retarded child based on the level of intellectual development you have displayed in your moronic comments. The insult was directed at you since you had a choice in the level of education you received (clearly you halted your education well before high school) not the unfortunate children that have no choice in the lot that has been dealt to them in this life (not to mention the fact that those children cannot and will not ever read these comments smart guy). And for the record I (unlike you) don???t watch gay porn. I enjoy the company of and am attracted to women (unlike you I???m normal) which means that if I view images of naked human beings (in my bedroom, in Playboy, or on a late night movie channel) those human beings are female or at the worst a male and a female together. The fact that I view heterosexual pornographic images may indeed by considered perverse by some individuals Mr. Light but it is certainly nowhere near as perverse as the acts of buggery you and other gays view, take part in, and as evidenced by your gay pride parades in San Francisco force the public at large to view (vis a vi engaging in despicable acts of public sex in broad day light with children present). And Mr. Light I???m quite sure that if you saw me face to face you would attempt to resort to physical violence and knock some sense in to me. Unfortunately for you the only thing that would end up knocked out from such an altercation would be your own teeth. If you would really like to try let me know and I???ll give you directions to my house. Who knows, when I???m done knocking out your teeth, my German Shepherd might even rip you a new one. I???m sure you and your gay friends would enjoy that.

"judging a 'book' by its cover" - for those who are "anti-dumbledore-gay" - ask yourselves how you felt about the character before he was outted. Was he not an amazing character that worked his way into your hearts...your childrens' hearts??? And then all of a sudden he is labeled and you people start bashing or losing respect or turning your backs on j.k.r. Is this because someone of such stature cannot have a different sexual orientation than what is considered "normal"?? It is not a publicity stunt...it's something that probably would have remained quiet had a certain question not presented itself. Maybe you should learn who a person is and what they are about rather than learn what they are and develop preconceived notions. Grow up - the world is evolving and maybe you should join it. The series was a hit and will always be a hit for many generations to come!!!!

you, sir, show your true feelings when you state that you do not wish to read the other comments because they will "piss you off". You are a complete homophobe and you do not wish to recognize it or be brought down in other people's eyes by it. when you say that, you believe that the general consensus is that homosexuality is really bad, which, in fact, is your opinion which you project into your own idea about other people's beliefs, because you are a control freak with a napoleon complex. You also lose sight of the fact that the Bible is a book written many hundreds of years ago, with many edits ordered by biased kings in the meantime. Therefore, the Bible is not necessarily the word of God, but is muddled by the many biased people who the Bible has been rewritten and interpreted by. You anoint yourself by criticizing the homophobes out there, but this is the *** 21st century, whattheworld. The homophobes are dying out, at least outside of Iran and the entire Southwestern section of the United States. And one last thought: Do you like apples? Well, now you can tell your friends that you just got shown up by a 14-year-old. HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES?

You must think your really smart spouting all that pseudopsychological knee jerk liberal reactionary bull$hit. Not to mention that you don't even know what Christian denomination the man is and therefore can't say whether he reads an unedited (Catholic and Coptic bibles were not edited by any such kings) or the King James edited version of the bible. Just because someone doesn't openly support and celebrate homosexuality as you have been beguiled by the liberal media into doing does not mean that they fear homosexuals or believe that exposure to them will result in them catching the gay bug. Before I leave you wallowing in your own stupidity let me leave you with my own capslock sentence. NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR APPLES!

you suck. go die. since when is it right to hate people for who they are?

        • Posted By: roonalwazlib @ 10/24/2007 8:23:04 PM

I'll make you a deal. When you figure how to use proper grammar and punctuation I'll go die. Have you ever heard of run-on sentence. Moving on, no one that I've read on this board has said that they hate gays. What they dislike and disagree with is the gay lifestyle and more importantly having that lifestyle shoved in their face by homosexuals and their supporters in the liberal media (be they commentors on this board or JKR herself). Does anyone seriously think that Dumbledore will now be remembered for the wonderful character and hero he was. Perhaps if JKR had introduced Dumbledore's sexual orientation organically in the novels and given her readers time to digest the information withing the stories' framework I would say he would be. It's unfortunate but for anyone who has heard JKR's statement he won't be "Dumbledore the fictional hero" he'll be "Dumbledore the fictional gay man" and that act by JKR (defining him as a gay man after the books have been published) has diminished his character and will ensure that those less tolerant of homosexuality than myself will ban their children from reading about and coming to know this character.

You know what, some of you guys sicken me. People DO NOT choose to be gay. They are attracted to who they want to be attracted to. Nobody has the right to insult gay people, or hurt them, or do any of that stuff! I have been called gay before! You wanna know what i say to these people? I say, i would rather be gay then be a prejudiced ass!

    • Posted By: jamez292 @ 12/10/2007 8:35:04 PM

Well spoken. If "gay" was a choice, then why would people choose a life full of hate, discrimination, and so forth. would you choose to do something that would deem you as unfit? no, i think not.

I have no problem with the gay thing at all. My issue is that she half heartedly mentioned it this late in the game. I see no other reason but for attention and to appease the gay community which seems to need to have someone or something gay in everything. We know they are gay people everywhere. Ok lets move on with life. Now I do have one issue with "AD" being gay. This author has now forced me to explain this to my 10 and 6 year old about being gay which i was not prepared to do at this time. There is enough confusion in this world already and speaking about sex is something I feel should wait until they are better able to grasp the concept..........................especially homosexuality. Now I will have to do this early.

As far as the being gay in general..........................to each his/her own but I do believe that now the gay community feels they need to be mentioned or represented in every aspect of life these days. I think we get it.................your gay. Understand like previously mentioned this type of lifestyle is still not excepted by everyone and you can expect some opposition. It seems like this is being forced down peoples throats. Again I know there are gay people in the world. I have no problem with this. I however and like alot of other people do not to be drowned in "hey I'm gay, I have rights and you need to recognize my sexuality" How about hey my name is so and so...nice to meet you.

with him being gay, I would have never guessed that Dumbledore was gay. I have no problem but it is very hard for me to believe, especially because Rowling came out and said it out of nowhere. I'm starting to think she did it for publicity. I have always thought he and McGonagall would make a good couple, they seemed to fancy each other. I always thought they would get together somehow, even if they are old, but now all hope is lost, beause Dumbledore is gay. I still admire Dumbledore and I haven't lost any respect for him, but I must admit that I am dissapointed, not because one of J.K.'s characters is gay, but because of the character she chose to be gay. I wish she decided for a different character to be gay, like Voldemort. But like I said before, I have not lost any respect for Dumbledore.
I also think Neville and Luna would make a better couple than Neville and Hannah (Abbot), she wasn't mentioned very often anyways.

i agree with the below (Brikki). neville and hannah so don't go. and about Rowling - i don't think she did it for publicity, let's face it she's pretty famous now, being richer than the Queen and all, i think she just decided it after she wrote it. it didnt change anything in the books though, the story wasn't affected at all so it doesnt matter either way. think what you want, YOU choose if he's gay or not. i did always think him too 'Pure' to be gay, like a monk or something.

I don't think Dumbleore is gay, partly because Rowling juct came and said it out of nowhere, and I personally think he and McGonagall would make a good couple, and they seemed to fancy each other. I also thought Neville and Luna would be a better couple than Neville and Hannah (Abbot), because Hannah is not mentioned in hardly any of the books.

You know..Rowling said that Dumbledore is gay..usually when you read a book you use your own imagination to decide what characters look like; in this case you also decide what they're sexuality is. Now, the author of a story can describe to you what a character looks like, but the author usually only broadly describes them lest you lose the readers attention.

I don't think anyone really knows why one person is gay when the next is not. Genetics? Maybe. Choice? I'm sure not. Does it matter? Of course not. Who cares? Oh yeah, God cares because it's against his laws. Oh, and the christians care because God doesn't like it. But that's like saying Santa and his elves are against gay people. Does anyone really care what one fictional character says about another? No.

Dumbledore has been outed. It's done. JK wrote the book, and you can say he's not gay as many times as you want, but that doesn't make it so. His creator made him gay. Oh, I get it now. His creator. Dumbledore's God. JK is, in her own way, god. She is the creator of that world. Hahahahahaha.

This thread has really taken a turn. Does it really need to be discussed this much?

Shadow_Ace, I love your comment. It seems like you're one of the only people in this forum who truely understands the relevance of Dumbledore's outing. Bravo for putting everything into perspective!

I have no problem with Dumbledore being gay; but he has, in past books, flirted with McGonagall and Madam Pomfrey. This would lead me to beleive he was straight. Of course while reading I always saw him above sexuality... like a monk.

and why does dumbledore being a "poof" effect his abilities. what your basicly saying is that a "poof" cannot go on to do great things when they can work equally as hard as any other person?

  • Posted By: Venzen @ 11/16/2007 10:42:25 AM

I'm really irritated about this, and not for the reason most might think.

Why not make Harry Potter gay? Oh, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were brother and sister. Thanks for supporting the idea of incest by buying my books.

I don't have a problem with homosexuality, but I'm well aware that a LOT of people do, a lot of people who WOULD NOT have bought the books or watched the movies had they known that one of THE major characters in the story, one that every reader looked up to, was gay. If Albus had been gay from the beginning, or outted in the middle, I'd have still bought the books, sure. But so many others wouldn't have.

For JK to say, now, after all have spent their money, all those folks who wouldn't have had they known, that is underhanded of her, and akin to forcing one's religion or particular beliefs done other people's throats when they can't do anything about it. JK, by making such a pronouncment, has basically morally raped a large portion of her fan base.

I've lost a substantial amount of respect for this author.

As far as I'm concerned, Dumbledore wasn't gay, regardless of what JK says. The books are written and finished. She didn't include anything in any of the seven books that could be used to support a notion that Albus was gay. Not even the author can come back and say later, "Oh yeah, Albus was gay, and so was Frodo, Petter Pan, Santa Claus, and Jesus.

    • Posted By: jamez292 @ 11/21/2007 10:26:18 PM

and where does it mention that he had to be straight? it doesnt, as u said, it gives no background to dumbledores sexuality, but it doesnt change the fact that either was was a poaasility does it?

listen simone, all im saying is just think of dumbledore, the most powerful wizard ever, n hes a poof!! just think it doesnt make sense, why did he have to be gay, its just an unnecassary small thing that makes him look bad and looses respect for dumbledore

  • Posted By: dontmesswithsimone @ 11/21/2007 12:33:22 AM
