    Its amazing how many devout Catholics find reasons why these so called Catholic leaders do what they do. Wake up already! God only knows what really goes on in that Vatican palace. I do understand there are many good Catholics and I am not knocking these poor people. It is the Leaders of the Catholic religion that do not deserve to have such good people following them. What kind of religion allows corruption? It is a shame that these so called religious leaders take advantage of the good nature of these people. Only the truth will set you free!

      Bob, that is kind of crap happens in Non-Catholic Churches as well...Can we forget Jim Bakker? Pat Robertson? The stuff happending at Oral ROberts University (Such a fine "Christian" school)...it happens everywhere....The human aspect of the Chruch is sinful and human...the Divine aspect of the Church is holy, without blemish because it was founded by Jesus....and yes, He must be PEEVED at the corruption...hopefully, He is cleansing his Church now for the future

    You should see the crap the Catholics do in Winona MN. They used a shady 'foundation' to corrupt the entire city and cnty govt. Then they started arresting people who tried to submit 'liberal' programs to the "public access" TV channel. Many laws broken. Velma Korbel of the Minnesota Human Rights Department says it is OK for them to give preferential treatment to local churches.

    christianity is a religion, the clergy's, pastors, reverend, e.t.c are the custodian of it. the Bible is like the constitution or the act of parliament by which all christians are guided. if the bible states that such actions are allowed, then any christians who choose topractice it should be allowed. but if the bible does not recognise or accept it, then the clergy's, reverend, pastors, e.t.c. who are the custodian of the religion should make sure through all means available to them that chirstians and people in general does not accept or practice it.

    Linking pedophils with homosexuality is as ignorant as linking all Catholic priests with pedophils, and other men of the cloth with the sex scandals that have occured over the years. It is as bad as saying all uncles should not be left alone with their neices/nephews, it is as frustrating as saying that all step-fathers are up to no good, that all foster parents are in it for the money and sexual and physical abuse of children. There are so many bad apples everwhere, in every neighborhood: heterosexual, homosexual, white, hispanic,black, asian, Native American, any culture or race,christian, baptist, presbyterian, lutheran, jehovah witness,bai'hai, muslim, jewish, buddhist, republican, democrat, politicians, police officers, lawyers, doctors...the list goes on and on and on. I do agree that the deceitful offenders should be taken care of to the full extent of the law. The compassion for the differences of every individual who is a law abiding person, who makes positive choices which do not effect children or anyone else in a negative way should be part of what is bridging the gap between good people. Too much hatred creates a negative void which is the work of the devil. Stenico had something to go on by blaming the satanists "trying to seduce priests" to give the catholic church a bad name. Hatred has given him that to lean on. He possibly could have been a good man. He just denied who he was and could not accept himself, out of guilt, shame, who knows. He went to the dark side, screwed his mind up, lied to himself and everyone else. He became a sick man, not a Gay man. Don't associate homosexuality with pedophillia. It will just make your heart harder and create hatred in you that you don't need. Pedophils and sex offenders are horrible, horrible people and we need to work as a whole, caring society to assure that we protect the victims by standing up to the law makers and making sure that child/sex abuse laws are tough. No person who abuses anyone sexually should be allowed back out into any community and it happens all of the time.

    Verse 11 says: "And that is what some of you were". Past tense. Some of those in the congregation, before they became Christians, were practicing those things that would not allow them to enter the kingdom of God but they quit doing them and were now in line for life in God's kingdom. To be acceptable to God we must do things his way ,not what we think or want.

    We are getting a little off topic with the male female debate. I am not sure if I would agree 100% with if women were priests we wouldnt have these problems but I would probably agree that it would be a little better than what it is now. Humans will be corrupted whether male or female. That argument will be played out with the potential Hillary Clinton election. God help us all.

    Who is Father Stenico kidding - on homosexualy chat lines. He is gay as gay can get. I agree with others - the Priests should be allowed to marry. But how would that stop gay Priests from having homosexual sex? How would it stop gay Priests from raping young men?

    Something most people are not aware of; the catholic church's health insurance plan is self funded. This means that all those charges for HIV tests, HIV treatment, sexually transmitted diseases etc are paid for directly by the Church, and they know exactly who and what is going on in their priesthood. It's only when others get a whif of what these priests are doing, do they react. Otherwise things go on as usual.

      There is no such thing as a blanket "Catholic Church Health Insurance Plan". That would imply a global plan and it doesn't exist. Dioceses fully insure or self insure independently. Religous congregations do the same (on provincial levels and dependent what country they are domiciled in).

    I fail to see how Father Stenico broke his vows. Is it not alright in the Church's eyes to be a non-practicing homosexual? He spoke to the young man as both a priest and as an older, homosexual man trying to give comfort and guidance to a young person troubled by a conflict between what the Church teaches and what he is inside.

    Never in this story does Father Stenico reveal if he has maintained his celibacy or not. His biggest problem is that he states that he implies he does not believe the Church's view on homosexual acts. If one has vowed to be celibate or monogamous, one should be so. However, Father Stenico let the young man know it was OK to accept who and what he was and still be a good Catholic. It is nice to know that a growing number of priests are telling young people this.

      Ah, but Father Stenico has committed the sin of causing scandal to the Church. Regardless of what he actually did, it looks bad. Also, if he told someone it is OKAY to engage in homosexual behavior, he has used his office to promulgate errant teaching. I don't think things will go well for him at the inquest.

        Is it really a "sin" to cause a scandal to the church? That seems rather harsh. Bad judgement is what I would call it. However, I could see how the church could call his comment about homosexuality a sin, although I don't believe stating one's opinion on a matter, even if contrary to the Church's, should ever be considered a sin.

      the bible take on it is if you cant substain your self marry you can according to the bible be married and be a priest but sex out side of that is wrong reguardless . but the bible clearly speakes against homosexuality that is why the city of sodom and ghomorra were distroyed because they we cities of gay people

    The gay community might have scored from this latest scandal. I believe that in an attempt to extend their reach and wrestle the world to the ground they get their own to shove their asses into positions of power and positions that can be deliberately used to discredit institutions that do not officially condone homosexuality. This kind of spectacular scandal is just thing to provide fodder for the debate surrounding gay rights.

    I am not catholic, far from it, but these men have taken a vow of chastity. Gay or straight, pedophile or not, they are not supposed to give in to the flesh of another. Period. If they break their vows, they must face the music. Unfortunately, the catholic church is having such a hard time recruiting new priests that they are being forced to keep the people in positions of power. Take religion out of it. If you broke the most basic of rules at your job, wouldn't you be fired? If you were in public office, you would be voted out. You wouldn't be given another job at the headquarters of your offices or a cushy position at the white house (ahem....Pardon me Mr. Clinton) if you couldn't follow the rules and keet it in your pants. Gay, straight, pedophile or other.

    I think the point is that we are not trying to say all priests are gay or evil. The problem here is with the leaders of the Catholic religion who chose to cover up instead of being honest and prosecute. If you brought your child to a day care facility and found out children were being molested would you continue to use that day care facility if they kept the accused molester employed? I seriously doubt it and you would be a fool if you did. Businesses get boycotted for saying something that isnt politically correct. Why wouldnt you expect people to have a negative reaction to homesexual child molestors employed by the Catholic church?

      I think you've hit the nail on the head. I'm totally disgusted by some of the things that go on...things perpetrated by sinful, prideful people who feather their own nests and worry about covering up unpleasantries rather than spending their energies shepherding the flock and rooting out the evil within as they have a responsibility to do. Nevertheless, I love the Church and believe she holds the fullness of Truth. Therefore, I'll stay and help work on the clean up.

      "Homosexual child molestors"? Oh boy. Alright first things first. Most child molestors are straight, not gay and the inclination to harm a child in this matter is related to power, not sexuality. Would I take my children to a day care where a pedophile worked? Of course not! Would it matter if gay men or women worked there? Of course not!

    My mom was a secretary for the Cathloic Church in Phoenix, AZ for over 20 years. She knew things were different with certain priests. And the sad part is she was usually right. Some are in jail, some have passed on and others left the church. It's sad to see what is happening. I have a hard time going to church these days. Please let them either live their lives the way God ment them to or check them out better before they commit to this life style.
