It doesn't matter a twit what these religious hypocrites say or do. The Pope is the biggest celebrity out there, and it's his job to protect his celebrity status. Catholics sure don't seem to care much about any of these matters, unless they are victims/litigators. You don't see them leaving their church, do you? From a non-superstitious person's point of view, this is all such a bunch of lunacy. It doesn't matter at all as long as superstitious, fear-filled people leave me alone. I know that they aren't going away.

Who can trust a church that has the gall to change the 10 commandments. They dropped the "idolatry" and split "covet" into another man's wife and another man's property. Who do they think they are, GOD? There is only one "recorded" communication with God and that is the 10 Commandments (in stone). First, there is nothing about "coveting" another man. Second, if homosexuality was such a sin, don't you think God would have been smart enough to include it. The "11 Commandments" wouldn't have been too much of a stretch. For that matter, the "20 Commandments" wouldn't have been too hard to remember. If all these supposed sins, that get all the religious nuts in an uproar, are so important, they would have been included. God said follow his commandments and you will enter the kingdom. If homosexuality was so important or sinful, I'm sure it would have been included. Thank you God!

It would be nice if the Catholic church would take care of this in house but as we have learned from the sexual abuse scandal the church shuffles those priest 's around and does nothing to warn the people and children exposed to them. As for Father Stenico, he is supposed to be celibate and to break those vows whether with a man or a woman is wrong. I wonder how news worthy this would be if he had made advances to a woman?

I thought priest were suppose to be celibate? The issue should not be the fact that he or she may be homosexual. The issue is they broke their vow of celibacy or intended to break their vow of celibacy. As someone told me, you can go to church, you can live in a monastary or be confined to church grounds but that does not make you spiritual in any way unless you actually practice what you preach.

gabs425 is correct. Breaking the vow of celibacy is a serious sin, regardless of the manner in which is it broken. This is something an individual's superiors must address with him/her. There needs to be some serious soul searching/prayer to determine if the vocation can be saved. If not, it's time to consider laicizing the priest or allowing the religious to leave their community.

in response to calixta924 - What on earth does the media making the story international news have to do with the Catholic Church coming into the 21st Century? Seems to me the Church would have had the same response had the MEDIA broadcast the same advances toward a young woman. Is it possible that the media needs to come to the 21st Century? I actually think not, rather, that people have to think before they cast accusations of being behind the times at any establishment - be it Church, media or government. There are undoubtedly issues on which the Church could arguably be behind the times - this is not one of them.

And yet they preach to us...Why not let them marry and enter into the real world. Bet if he slid them a few bucks we could have kept it quiet. Much like having a marriage annulled.

What gets me is that, everybody comes down on Muslims for attacks . When it comes to a situation like pedophiles and gay preist everone turns the cheeks. To me it is like society is saying that one is better trhan the other. Which rhey are both insanely wrong.

There is nothing "Holy" about the catholic church and the Vatican...there never has been...How many more centuries of filth are we willing to put up with from this "Holy Institution"?

Would this priest have made international news for making a pass at a young woman? I seriously doubt it. Perhaps it's time that the Catholic church join the rest of the world in the twenty-first century.
