    Come on folks, you would think by the post and the media that there is a homosexual priest behind every robe. I am not Catholic, but I have to question that. Out side of San Fransisco the "gay" community is pretty limited. As far a being moral or not, the Bible is very clear on that issue. However its also a sin to lie, to steal, to what what others have, and to cheat on your spouse. The good news is you cant out sin God. Forgivness is there for everyone who asks for forgivness and accepts the grace of God. Hollywood and the secular media would have us believe that church has not place any longer in America. The fact is we are just a short time away from a great revival. Califson

      I think there is such a high incidence of homosexual priests who are attracted to young boys because back in the 60's and 70's there was a steep decline in men commiting to the priesthood. The need to keep recruiting priests caused the church to ease their standards. At the same time, closeted gay men who were attracted to young boys saw professions such as the priesthood, teaching, coaching, etc., as a way to be near the children they were attracted to. With the eased standards coupled with the opportunity for contact with children, it was an obvious opportunity. If you went to a Catholic school in the 70's or 80's you knew this, and it was also clear that the Church knew it so we shouldn't be surprised that these things have happened and continue to happen.

Furthermore, I would like to know who the "some" are this author speaks of, when insinuating that the Church only dealt with this because it was exposed by the media. It seems to me that certain parts of the media take a lot of enjoyment in pointing out INDIVIDUALS who fail to live up to Catholic teaching in an effort to discredit the authoritative Church teaching.

    Come on folks, you would think by this story that every priest is a homosexual. I am not Catholic, but I doubt that there are that many "gay" priest, just like there are not nearly as many in the homosexual community as the media and holllywood would like us to believe. Out side of San Fransisco its pretty normal. As far as the moral issue, the Bible is pretty clear on that, however its also a sin to lie, steal, and cheat on your spouse. The good thing is you cant out sin God. Forgivness is available to those who confess and accept the grace of our God. Califson

    I do not think God almighty really cares who you love or sleep with. It is time for human kind to wake up and throw away all these human inventions disguised as religion that in the name of God manipulate our conciences and lead us into slef rejection, denial and intolerance. We should be born to grow as mentally healthy creatures loved and accepted for what we are, leaving all these myth behind.

    Hello, I just want to say that I am a gay american, and I have had relationships with literally hundreds of priests, they are some of the best lovers (discrete). I have had sex with numerous men in church, at church functions all over. My point is that we (gays) and priests have an alliance. We are one in the same. So just accept the fact they gays have infiltrated your little cult. I laugh at your religion and so do your priests!!!

    Don't you just love it? The teachings of Christ are built on 'love thy neighbor', yet the Church sees fit to keep outdated conditions on it - 'Love thy Neighbor' unless he/she is gay. And then they are left having to 'deal with' thesituation of one of their own clerics being homosexual. Know what? I am gay. And I am proud of it. And if you think that affects how I do my job (regardless of what it is), you're likely ignorant enough to believe that it affects the way I drive a vehicle or even breathe. The issue here should be the priest breaking his vow of celibacy, not the gender of the person he broke it with.

    First of all, stories like this appeal to the majority of people who either do not know the difference between homosexuality and pedophilia or forget it as they are flooded by their emotional responses, unable to think clearly. Those working in the human services field know that the great majority of pedophiles are straight men who victimize children. The incidence of pedophilia among the homosexual population proves to be no lesser or greater than the general population. The Church, however, in an effort to cover up what they know to have been the case for many years, that there are, in fact, many gay priests, does not hesitate to hide behind pedophilia hoping for the very kind of ill-informed outrage mentioned earlier. What the Church doesn't want its members and the general public to get absolutely clear on is the fact that many of the "hierarchy" touting the party line against homosexuality are, themselves, gay.

    If the Catholic church wants to clean up the "filth", it could look to how far gone down bigotry, hate, wealth accumulation, preaching but not practicing, sacrifice of victims in the name of protecting the instiution and other unchristian roads it has travelled since the days Christ preached about love and tolerance. Sad another witch hunt over gays - not celibacy vows wehther broken with men or women - gays only, and the church only grows more spiritually bankrupt as they target another scapegoat.
