    alrich5, I TOTALLY agree! The word of God states quite clearly NO MAN should be called Father, Christ died and rose to the ascension, he is no longer on the cross in death...why then do catholic crucifixes portray him as dead? Mary was a blessed mother surely, but does that mean I have to pray to her to get to Jesus to get to the Father? Why would I ever need to confess my sins to another imperfect human being? What and where is purgatory and how many bingo games do I need to win to avoid it? The questions and falsisms created by this cult are endless

    Vatican II was an evil council as was reportedly (...and I firmly believe it !) spoken by Our Blessed Mother, Mary Ever Virgin, in the Third Secret of Fatima....which by the way was never ever released, despite what the current Vatican officials say. We need to return to the "Traditional Catholic Church" which is the one and only True Church of Christ period. This will put an abrupt end to the Sodomites and all other perversions being taught by disgraceful clergy and so called religious.

    Why are people so surprised when things like this happen in the Catholic Church? This kind of thing has been going on for centuries, since a bishop, not God, decided that priests should not marry and have sex. Yet, despite all of the doctrine that men have conceived, that it's Catholic members "swear" by, this church has thrived and grown for many centuries. It must be a miracle... Only now the truth of the "repression", which has been hidden for so long, is finally coming out.

        Actually, it was SUGGESTED by Saint Paul, not by Jesus, and just because the church chose to adopt Pauls suggestion doesn't make it right. Jesus NEVER told them to be celibate.

      you pray your way and let other pray theirs if it offends you tough deal with it. They Pray to the virigin so do you.. no.. then leave it be. All your hate and judging only brings more hate and judging. It's like everyone else religious is wrong except yours well you know what it may surprise you that china and japan are predominately buddhist totally against your religion but i gurantee that half if what you got in your house is probably from china or japan. Maybe you should get rid of those heathens things and also your computer as well because paying for heathen things only leads to more heathen financing...

    The perspective missing from this article is of the faithfully serving gay priests whose only conflict with the church is their private life between consenting adults. This article never questions the assumption that gays in the priesthood are a pressing problem, nor that they should be lumped in with the pedophiles or those who predate on their own flocks.

    Please contact the Gay and *** Alliance Against Defamation to get readily available alternative viewpoints on sexuality before you publish only the Vatican???s slant on an issue.

    Hello?? Didn't you read the book? Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, more commonly known as the Bible, still the number one seller of all time. Why? Becuase it is the truth. Take it or leave it. Believe anything else you care to, but the issues are addressed in full if you read the book. Now, for those of us who subscribe to the teachings in the book, sex outside of marriage between one man and one woman is wrong. Period, end of story. Marriage is given as a blessing from God. If you don' t believe the book; no problem, do whatever you like, but stop hiding in the church. You don't believe what we teach, go be a Buddhist, Hindu, agnostic, Zen follower or whatever freelance philosophy you like but stop calling yourself a Christian. Christians are follows of Jesus Christ the only Son of the Living God and obey and do His Word. If that Word doesn't please you, go find words that make you happy, but GO AWAY and do whatever YOU think is best and please allow US to do the same. We don't make the rules, HE did. We just follow them.

        Have either of you read "the rules" in the bible? I am sure you are both committing sins everyday. The bible says that it is an abomination to work on sunday and that people that do work on sunday shoudld be smited (killed). Do you go shopping on sunday? Have you killed anyone the works on sunday? It says that eating shellfish is an abomination. Have you eaten any shrimp lately? It says that women who wear clothes that pertainth to a man are committing an abomination. Do the women you know wear pants? I wonder how ou choose which rules to follow and which to ignore?

            Nice of you to say so, Sister. I know there are plenty of us out here. We usually just mind our own business and let the rest of the world muck away as best they can. But time is growing short, as all who have studied the Bible know. I did feel it encumbent upon me to have the opportunity to testify for Jesus since it was an open forum. Jesus often went among the publicans and the "religious" people of His day got on His case for it. I can only hope ONE inquiring soul picks up a copy of the Bible in what ever language and version is available to them and read for themselves, study for themselves and then CHOOSE for themselves who they will follow and believe. I have my reservation in the Non-Smoking section for eternity. I'll see you there!

          I just love nit pickers! You have made my point. I KNOW that I have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. I make mistakes and do things wrong, but I am convicted by my OWN knowledge in reading the Word of God and repent of those things He indicates I have done wrong and resovle through faith in Jesus NOT to continue to behave in wrongdoing. In return, I am forgiven. If I fail to REPENT, then there is chastiment and believe me when I say, I KNOW first hand that God corrects and disciplines His Own. MY post was for those who do WRONG AND CALL IT RIGHT. Trying to say their behavoir is CORRECT and that I should accept and condone it. WRONG. I don't work on Sunday, mostly because I am TIRED since I work the other six days. I DO take that time to fellowship with other Christians out of love for them and My Lord, whom I DO follow. Reading the Gospel allows the Lord to give me guidance, assurance and enlightenment. But, go ahead and take the Word out of context and twist it to suit yourself. You have missed the point of the Bible entirely when you do. READ the WHOLE thing with a view to LISTENING to God when He speaks to YOU.

    Simply outrageous!!!! The hypocrisy that comes from the Vatican makes my blood boil! How dare they to condemn anyone. Molest a child, have gay sex anything to avoid legal prosecution and rush them to the Vatican for safe keeping. I suppose the irony is to keep priests from further actions "against nature", the Vatican will step in to protect the public. Please an institution full of men, I'd have a field day!!!!!

    If you are gay and are reading this post, please understand the heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to reconcile us back to God. God reconciled us through the horrific death of Jesus on a Roman instrument of torture, aka "the cross". Why? To make forgiveness of sin possible. The Bible is clear on the subject of Homosexuality. Read Romans 1 in particular, then read up through Chapter 4 to get the rest of the story. Please listen, Romans 1 is not an attack on gay people in particular, it is an indictment on all people. All people (me, Billy Graham, the Pope) sin and fall short of the Glory of God (Rom 3:23). I just ask to consider what sin is. Let's be honest, not Politically Correct. My heart goes out to gay people, especially those who are trying to overcome the practice of homosexuality. I've never practiced homosexuality in my entire life, I have my own sins that seem to "own me" at times, yet God has redeemed me through His death on a cross and I cannot defend sin. Jesus died because of my sin...why would i ever defend it. I've seen God restoring my heart and my mind over the years, personally witnessing His power to transform what sin destroyed in me. I'm am not sinless. But I will not defend freedom to sin, but rather defend my right to be free to obey a loving God who died for me. Thanks for reading, reply if u have any ?'s concerning this!!       I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. All who FOLLOW and LOVE Jesus will also agee with your comments.. God loves the homosexual, but hates the sin. A true test would be to have the practicing homosexuals listen to X-homosexuals who have gotten delivered from such an abomination to the Lord.

      I have a problem with the 'tree of knowledge'(?) in the middle of the Garden of Eden and I have the same problem with my sexuality. Why give them to us in the first place? Looks like what a revengeful person would do, not like the work of a loving and all-forgiving God. Since you have never done 'it', let me enlighten you, its a pleasurable thing, to some I suppose more satisfying than heterosexuality.

      I agree, J. Often, Christians do not practice humility enough which results in a mild sneaky self-righteous attitude that snowballs into a huge attitude sin that keeps us from loving God and people. Happened to me. Christianity is faith based. Jesus came to earth to demonstrate to us how to live. These are hugely important basics that followers don't emphasize by our daily actions.

    It is sad that they are some who believe that praying, meditation, etc... will stop their sexual tendencies and hence, become priets. They take away so much of our respect for those who actually become priests because of their belief, faith, and love for God. Sad, truly sad.

    Strange that the writer assumes, as the basis for his "could not survive in a parish" comment, that heterosexually oriented priests have no problem maintaining vows of chastity but homosexually oriented priests as a class will not do so.

    I think a more realistic conclusion would be that the Church has tolerated and managed a few prients' semi-secret sexual activity, gay or straight, adult or pedophile, for a long time...hundreds of years or longer. Throughout that time, though, it's been the case that many parish prients who would be homosexually oriented if they were sexually active, instead have been faithful to their vows of chastity and effective in their parish roles.

    hey, idalee, she posted at 2:46:17, those roles that women played out with Jesus is true, and you're right a woman bore him, a woman was the first to see him rise from that tomb, a woman fed him, they did all that, than your post takes on an ominus tone all through the ages you stated women have been relegated "to bake sales, teaching sunday school" You forgot one other important thing a woman did, remember the first one in the Garden who was explicitly told not to eat fruit from the tree in the center ofthe garden, she looked up to the sky an in essence said f --k you I'm eating it anyway, after being tricked by you know who. come idalee dobn't forget these things man didn't do it to you, you did it to yourself. Anybody out there know the book and verse in the bible that describes women "of a light mind" please let me know I can' t find just yet. Reading these post sounds like some of you are acquainted with that bible.

    Oh, come on! He was only investigating a satanic plot by cruising gay internet sites and meeting with a child after hours to discuss how "hot" the child was and redefining the child's accurate definition of sin. Why don't you believe him? As the church teaches, you must have faith.
