One thing you forgot to mention Bob, they used religion to justify slavery here in America, religion was the pretext for them invading the middle east to convert those "bad" muslims into christianity. you couldn't comprehend how many people were slaughtered as a result of that b s premise. Another chapter in history where they used religion to justify their sadistic ambitions was one of the darkest in recorded human history. when you know who came over in october 1492 and stuck a sword in the ground and proclaimed "In the name of king ferdinad and queen isabella, and GOD i proclaim this territory for spain. all this despite the over 150 million people that were on this side of the world. they say this was paradise back then especially those west indies jamaica cuba all these places were clean pure and pristine. those indians were living well, until these animals came. Dirty Dogs, over 10 million African wound up at the bottom of the Atlantic, the indians were virtually exterminated wiped out, and we have the nerve to confront other countries about human rights violations, are you kidding me? over 50 million africans were forcibly removed from africa, all these people suffered the likes you couldn't possibly comprehend, all in the name of religion, don't get me wrong i love religion in its pure form, which is about love and understanding, that was the original intent, but along the way from King James and his socalled version all the way up til now people have manipulated that book (bible) these people when they came and conquered the americas, it was brutal, you would stick your head in the sand if you knew what these people went thru, dirty dogs! over 42 nations were created out of that, the indians were subjected to genocide and eliminated and a whole new race of people was created - latinos. All in the name of reliogion if i had my way i would do all of em bury em dig em up and do em again, dirty dogs, they're all demagogues.

Just for the record, the pedophiles are typically NOT gay, but rather claim to be straight. The Catholic church needs to open it's eyes. Simply because someone leads a normal life with a spouse and a family, doesn't make them any less qualified to teach the word of God. With the questions arising regarding the possible marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdaline, who are they kidding anyway. They are priests, messengers to spread the good word, they are not Gods. The expectations are unrealistic. Perhaps this is why church attendance is down and why the youth in our society no longer have any respect for organized religion.

As a Catholic, I believe that there would be less problems if we allowed our priests to marry. I think that, although some of the priests are homosexual, many of them are looking for an outlet for sexual tension and feel that a homosexual relationship is more likely to remain private. There is still such a stigma against homosexuals so many people still keep their sexual preferences a secret. If priests were allowed to marry and have families I believe that more men would be called to serve as priests. Right now, many men are probably torn between the love of their families and the love for Jesus and the Church. The Catholic Church needs to evolve in order to stay alive and healthy. We are floundering in a sea of pedophilia and homosexual debacles and it is ruining the faith of the flock. All the world sees is the bad but we need to focus on all the good the Catholic Church does.

We are really getting away from the point of this discussion. It is not whether it is right or wrong to be a homosexual. The question is if it is OK to be a homesexual christian leader and is it acceptable for the catholic church to cover up homosexual priests and pedophiles. I dont think it is right to persecute anyone for being homosexual but I also dont agree with having alterenative lifestyles shoved down my throat and there is no place for homosexuality in the Bible. That in turn means there is no room for homesexuality in any religion that follows the bible.

Very unfortunate. How much more suffering must God's people (the church) endure? Allow priests to get married now!

Being gay is a genetic predisposition, as the "make you NOT gay" programs will attest to. These people suffer horribly trying to be something there are not, at the behest of someone else's viewpoint which denies them who they are.. Being at peace within yourself and being a good and kind person is all anyone needs in order to be loved by God. God loves everyone if he is worth all the praise. It's all so simple, but prejudice, as it always does, causes death, pain, and suffering to all who judge others.
