Comment: Here we go again, giving all our hard earned money to some other country. What is wrong with keeping it here for us. We are having alot of problems right here at home and then you go and put our money into there hands and see what they do to us, bomb us,and we paid for it.If we get people in the goverment that can do the job right, keep the money here in the us to help us out, we (as a country) do alot better in the foriegn market. If we hve to privatise the roads then do it with our (US) money and stop giving it to others. Think of our country for once and not some one elses.

Comment: The roads should be privatized! The purpose of government is to provide military, police, and judical system, and not to provide all of the other "perks" that we are all so accustomed to getting. Do you realized that we are paying roughly $1100 per year in interest on our 9 trillion dollar debt for every man, women, and child in this country? We are adding another $5.50 to the debt for every man, women, and child every day. If this isn't stopped, this country will become backrupt and the interest we all pay to borrow money will become very high and could destroy the economy. The government needs to stop spending money on things not essential to the function of a proper government and go back to the system of government the founding fathers had intended. It's no wonder cities such as Chicago have no money to maintain the roads. The bank account is empty from all of the spending on social programs. Eventually countrys such as China and Saudi Arabia, the countrys who fund our deficit spending the most by buying bonds, will realize that the U.S. will never pay the money back and will cut us off. Then we'll really scramble to find money to build and fix the roads!

Comment: The new government model is to shift the burden to those who will come after us, i.e., our kids and grandkids. Stick it to them; who cares. We'll be gone. Capitalism gone awry. A pox on all our houses.

Comment: Why do we ALL need to pay taxes to fund these projects such as the initial building of a highway, pay out of our taxes to maintain these highways, and then we ALL pay a toll to drive on a highway that we are taxed yearly to do all the above? Seems like all this does is provide a means to make someone rich for not even working for it. I understand the infrastructure needs to be updated, so how about we make people work and stop spending money for provide for people that WON'T provide for themselves, I am sure that could free up money. How about we stop sending so much of our taxes paid in to other countries, that would free up money. Make people accountable for what they owe in taxes, stop spending money on pay increases for our senators, congresspeople, ect. In those parts of our government what happened to serving the people instead of looking for a way to sit down make a lot of money compaired to the average American while take away money that can go towards our highways? I want answers, who will give me answers without requesting a pay increase?

Comment: This is what happens when Washington ideologue's refuse to pay for the present. They refuse to raise the taxes needed to build and update Americas crumbling infrastructure. The recent bridge collapse is only the tip of the iceburg, Dams, water purification and treatment, energy generation and distribution are all at critical breaking point (evidence rolling blackouts). As long as we allow unlimited funds for military fiascos and next to nothing for infrastructure were just rolling the dice. We'll soon see a period of decline unlike anything we've seen before.

Comment: This kind of one time revenue can be used to hide the fact that economic growth is flagging and years of tax cuts and rising gas and health care costs are putting ever increasing pressure on lawmakers to balance budgets without tax increases. What ever happened to pay as you go? Maybe nobody cares as long as we can live in our mcmansions, drive hummers, and watch the NFL on our 54 inch plasma screens...

Comment: The experience of other countries is relevant to evaluate objectively the challenges that we face today in America.
In Mexico the privatization of infrastructure was powerful evidence of the liaison between selfish public servants and favored corporations.
This practice contributed to unfair practices and plenty of corruption.
Mexico sacrificed his agricultural system to acquire massive infrastructure which was sold subsequently to a
selected group of companies for a fraction of their market price.
The moral of this story that is our tax dollars should never, ever favor corporate interests.

Comment: This is another tangible example of how things are wetting worse in America.
I???ve seen this private-owned highway system in third world countries like Mexico. I wonder what is next.
I can???t bring myself to believe in another selfish politician full of empty promises, Republican or otherwise.
There has to be a different answer to America???s problems.

Comment: This is sad that our country has come to this. This is like you or I going to the pawn shop selling off our possessions. What is criminal in this case? Our politicians are selling off stuf that you and I, the American taxpayer, have payed for and we do not even get to have a say about this. I would rather bring back the intangible tax and save "my" road.

Isn't it ironic: Xerox is hoping it can profit by teaching companies how to reduce their printing.
