Is it unethical to sell something in the economic system we have? All sales people do research on their clients. All sales people have some sort of promotional material they leave behind for their client, its called branding. Do you buy every house you are offered becuase a realestate agent gave you a magnet calendar? Is this article, and the many like it, saying that doctors are gullible? That they buy everything they are spoken to about. If this were the case, timeshare sales people take note and only target doctors. If you give them a weekend free in a tropical place they will feel obligated to buy from you, even if you bore them to death with a two hour presentation.
There is one good point in this article, there are two many sales represetnatives in this industry. The companies hire people with great science skills but no social skills, which causes all the problems.

When you see a drug rep at your doctor, ask for the free pen and let them know that you the consumer are paying for it
