On reading this article I have recognised that there is a great possibility that DID exists and it has nothing to Demons. I was abused as a child (age 6 to age 10)and in order to get away from the abuse while it was happening, I left my body - sounds strange? It isn't - I went some were else in my mind which completely blocked out those 4yrs of my life - How I got through those years only God and that other person I knows

I agree with heartofamerica on this one. Kayak, you sound both ignorant and uneducated. For you to hear what she went through, and THAT come out of your mouth... "WOW" ... Think before you speak, Kayak.

comment : i think weather it is MPD or DSM that is not so concerned ,main concern is that this situation is true or not.I do not think that anybody just for some popularity can be so bothered to act in such a strange manner for long periods of time. And just in case somebody can be bothered to carry on such a hassel,is again a bit different sort of disorder.

WOW! I am so saddened to read such a comment about some one who suffered such extreme abuse. This isn't some one who commited crime and blamed her illness, this is some one who had an illness that was diagnosed. What actions should she be held accountable for? Being an abused child? Being born, perhaps? Very sad taht some one could lack such compassion.

kayafisher: Most of the population doesn't have to deal with what she went through as a child, thank God. Have a little compassion.

I feel a lot of empathy for someone that has endured such a painstaking journey. All I can say is that she must have had an inordinate amount of strength to have healed from her hellish childhood. May God bless this women as she becomes whole again.

The name is really irrelivent what matters is that most likely the disorder itself is the manifestation of demons in peoples lives. Yet this is also a controversial issue just like DID. but someday all truth will be known.

The term Multiple Personality Disorder is NOT correct. This disorder is now referred to as Dissociate Identity Disorder according to DSM.

I don't know much about Dissociative Identity Disorder but I find it absolutely fascinating. I've read newspaper articles, books, internet articles, even novels and I can't seem to learn enough. Where can I find more in depth information on this illness?
