Republicans are rednecks and democrats are wuses. Support for the same old team isn't going to change this country. Want to send a message that can't be ignored, vote third party... (The resulting history lesson would do this country [and this board] good... I.E. The Federalists, Democratic Republicans, Democrats, National Republicans, Whigs, and Republicans)

Thanks BobD! This country is headed for a depression and the Republicans want more of the same. Are not the laborers tired of carrying that elephant on their back??? I think the people that are most worried about those papers are the ones that watch soap operas and read True Love magazines. Do you not know that if this depression happens that the rich will lose all and the poor will suffer as well. How would any of you like to have every part of your personal life spread out over the media and exposed to being torn apart by the "news media". Just step back and look at what is happening in our country and then look back at previous times. Our country is in a crisis! Financially, morally, and internationally. If things don't turn around we are going DOWN. A country that states it is "Of the people, by the people and FOR THE PEOPLE. " I still do not know whom I will vote for, but I have little regard for people that need to tear someone else down to build themselves up.

Given the Clintons experience with the "fair and balanced" news reporting about Whitewater ad nauseum, and the media's total disregard for the truth in Kerry's "Swiftboat" assassination, why would they want to share their personal dialogue regarding the darkest moments of their lives. I can hear Tony Snow now, "Trust me". Further, people are trying to obfuscate about current Hillery questions by alluding to "cover-up" from her past. Well, if she called a certain senator a rotten SOB because he deliberately misconstrued her health reform plans as "socialized medicine" when he supports social security 100%, she probably is right, and it probably serves no useful purpose to air that now, except to arm her opposition. Now then, I wonder why no one is alarmed about the Bush papers from his govenor years, when have been sealed and placed in his father's Presidential Library, further, no living human today will ever see either his Govenor or Presidential Papers. If you are unable to campaign without more dirt, do as Rove, make it up as you go! The media does not dain to challenge, especially if it is negative.

For those of you who are Hillary supporters, I would like you folks to explain to the American voters, how, and why we can support her in light of this refusal to open up the Clinton's papers. After answering that question (if you can without lying) tell us how can you OVERLOOK and IGNORE Ileegal contributions from Norman Hsu and the Chinese dishwasers? How can you defend Hillary's 'wiretapping' scandal, her 'flip-flops on Iran and torture? Or, how about her vote FOR the Iraq War and her vote for Kyl/Lieberman. Are we democrats that desparate to put one of 'ours' in the White House, that we are willing to elect someone with so much "Baggage?". We have had enough of deception and manipulation by George Bush. Why do we want more of the same? Let's elect someone that we can believe in, a man of Integrity, good judgment and leadership for a CHANGE.......Obama'08

Well Pete we'll explain all these questions just as soon as you can explain why we owe China 300 billion dollars, why our soldiers are being killed for Bush's vendetta, why we are up to our tails in debt from when Clinton got us out of debt for the first time in YEARS. Also why should our SS be given to the aliens in this country. I worked my ___ off to pay my taxes and for them to be given to the mainly mexican population. here in the states. We have people here that are starving to death because they can't make enough to feed their families, can't go to doctors they need and can't afford medicine. Now answer thes questions and we'll answer yours.

What a bunch of (republican) hypocrites; the 1st thing GW did when he came into office was to seal all papers from his daddy's presidency, ESPECIALLY those that had to do with anyone on his staff, many of which where also on daddy's staff!

  • Posted By: bigjon @ 11/05/2007 10:54:23 AM

Is this a surprise to anyone? The whole Clinton (Bill) administration was one coverup after another. Why should that change with Hillary? Where is Newsweek on this story - seeking out the inside stories that they always seem to find or allude to or make up about anything Republican? I am sure we will have all sorts of disclosures in the future - after 11/08. Great reporting job. And you wonder why I stopped my subscription to Newsweek, or should I say the DNC newletter and promotion journal. By the way, what is the definition of propaganda?

  • Posted By: abrook8 @ 11/04/2007 4:34:53 PM

Dems: the accusation party: the party of liars. Everything is GW's fault. She says they are secreive, yet Bill is caught flat out lying and the press is sitting on a story about Hillary's lover who travels with her. Let's see: If a Republican pinches his sixth grade theacher, then Newsweek will sniff it out. If a Democrat like Bill and Hillary lies at every turn, no story.. Media
Bias? LA TIMES release the story! Here Bill and Hillary are caught red handed out right lying and no one bothers to call them on it.

  • Posted By: Theresa1001 @ 11/04/2007 12:24:33 AM

Hillary should have to disclose it all. She needs to realize some folks will not vote for her unless she does, and I am one of those individuals.

There was a song during the 40's/50's. The line that plays over in my mind is"The Rich get rich and the Poor get poorer". Seems like history is repeating itself. Whom among you were not better off 8 years ago? The answer has to be the multi billionaires that our current adminustration has produced.. How has that helped the majority of the people in our society? And where does those billions come from? I can remember a time when there was no homeless other than those whom chose to live like that, they were called hobo's. Just about anyone could afford to see a doctor and dentist and even go to the hospital. No insurance needed. With a few years of saving, you could buy a home and some did it without borrowing. There also were families with a parent at home to oversee their childrens upbringing and activities and the morality was such that crimes common today were rare then. Juvenile delinquency was only in the big cities and even then not as bad as it is today. People did not see a need to lock their doors. So what happened? Big business. Big business is not concerned with how much damage they do to this country, only in how much money they can garner from it! So we want to know all about what is in the Clinton White House Archives. From a political point of view I can see why that is of a big concern. But irregardless of what is there, are you better off since they have left the White House.? If you are then how much money do you have?

  • Posted By: wooliewonka @ 10/21/2007 3:07:52 PM

The Clintons are afraid that their true colors will be disclosed; the fact that their many years in politics have not been spent in promoting the common good, but in enriching themselves and their cohorts while letting the means justify the ends in their quest for power. The American people should be wary of these two. When Hillary said that she wasn't just some little woman standing by her man, and then did the opposite to preserve her viability for her future runs for public office, she showed what her true principles were--anything to get to the oval office. She and Bill are afraid that their pasts will come back to haunt them.

Have you ever heard the song "Ain't We Got Fun" It was popular in the 40's. One line that sticks out in my mind is "The Rich Get Rich and the Poor Get Poorer." I suppose it would be good to know what is in the Clinton papers, but would that change the fact that most of us were better off than? That after 8 years of Republican power our country has sunk so far? This favoring of the Special interest and creation of multi billionaires, while the ordinary person finds it more and more difficult to live a normal life. How do these obscenely wealthy people get there money. From us! It is practically getting to a master and slave society. Yes, I have lived during the time any one could afford a trip to the doctor or dentist, or even the hospital. There were no homeless other than the hobo that chose to live that way. You actually could easily save money enough to buy a home and buy it outright. Most families had a parent at home to raise and oversee their childrens activities. Morality was a given in most of society. Most people did not even lock their doors. So what happened? Big business is what happened and the Republicans are an advocate of this. For those of you that are not the recently SUPER wealthy class, are you better off today that you were 8 years ago?

    Dear TN Hillbilly -
Clinton didn't balance the budget. The rep/dem congress was split - thus spending bills didn't get through.
It is not a credit to the Clintons -
Hillary wants to drive this country into the worst debt we can possibly imagine with her fanatic socialism program. What a nightmare! Why can't people see this her as the sleezy, weasle lawyer that she is. She has slime up to her eyeballs, and can't give straight answers. Americans would be FOOLS to vote for her. She is NO GOOD FOR AMERICA!

It would be nice if Newsweek would put a feature on its pages as some others do that make it easy to change the font size for the reader. In my case, I can not read the font on this page unless I copy and paste it into a Word document.

Bruce Lindsey is the Clintons' attorney--so much for "transparency"

  • Posted By: Skipper50 @ 10/26/2007 1:35:17 PM

It's the Clinton mantra...stonewall, stonewall, stonewall.

  • Posted By: b_leonhard @ 10/26/2007 3:46:43 AM

The Clintons are their own worst nightmare. If they weren't two of the most corrupt politicians in Washington then they wouldn't have anything to worry about. The only person that Bill has to protect Hillary from is Hillary. She will be her own downfall. I just pray it happens from her Senate office and not the Oval Office. They've duped the Democrat party, don't let them dupe America. We won't have Bush to blame for our probelms if we elect her, only ourselves (since they won't own up to their mistakes anyway).

  • Posted By: greboo46 @ 10/23/2007 8:52:36 AM

you know, people are going to do what they can to make the clinton's look bad again and again. and you know what now adays you can make anyone look bad. so the clinton's like alot of other good people doing there jobs well. will have to endure this garbage that is printed now and again. greg boone

    • Posted By: hoopes_az @ 10/25/2007 7:22:41 PM

The Clinton's make theemselves look bad...nobody else is doing it. For Clinton to come right out and blame the lack of release on BUSH while he is the one who is actually behind it. Tell me, who's fault is that? Clinton is no more honest than Bush, he's just better at hiding his dishonestly.

  • Posted By: Michaelrf @ 10/23/2007 6:28:57 PM

....I support the Clintons decisions to keep records private. Those desperate conservatives would do just about anything to rid the world of the Clinton's. If it were not for Bill and Hillary, the republicans would have controlled everything in this country for the past 30 years. We need Hillary to clean up the second Bush mess. Keep up the great campaign Hillary. November 2008 cannot get here fast enough!!!
    Clinton/Bayh 2008 !

    • Posted By: hoopes_az @ 10/25/2007 7:18:58 PM

Desperate conservatives would do just about anything...? Is that the same conclusion you want people to draw about liberals and their relentless campaign to ge the Bush administration to open up? I think they should BOTH open up, but I don't see how folks here can be so strongly support both sides of the same issue.

Republicans established a whole industry dedicated to smearing her reputation. Go to a bookstore and you'll find a whole bunch of books smearing her. These people have worked for 15 years to smear her as a *** communist who doesn???t share our ???family values???. Cal Thomas insists she doesn???t believe in Christianity (she taught Sunday school). They insist she is an acolyte of Alinsky (she rejected his ideas). They say she hates full time moms, will impose abortion on demand, take everyone???s guns, cut and run in Iraq (she already said exactly the opposite).
They falsely accused her of murdering Vince Foster, JFK Jr and Ron Brown, violating ethics rules with her book deal (the GOP-run ethics panel cleared her). They accuse her of crime when she makes money on cattle and she loses money in Whitewater. They accuse her of crimes connected with the travel office, of using the FBI to hunt down her enemies (independent counsel cleared her). Republicans spent 50 million trying to dig up dirt, and failed.
Judicial Watch, which launched the jihad against the Clintons in the 90s, launched a new suit, demanding every one of the millions of documents and emails from her first-lady days, so they can troll for dirt to smear her with; also diaries, phone logs, day planners. A magazine, Insight, accused her of complicity in the Black Panther protests in 1970, and of smearing Obama as a radical Muslim. Giuliani calls her a socialist and condemned her health plan before he had read it; he ran an ad claiming she took part in the MoveOn ad on Iraq. Romney equated her to Marx. McCain claims she ignores terrorism.

Bill is protecting his wife from the savages. Good for him.

    • Posted By: hoopes_az @ 10/25/2007 7:14:26 PM

For every book lambasting Hillary, there are 10 taking shot at Bush. I'm a fan of neither, but believe in full disclosure so that we can make a decision based upon her record. This isn't about Bill protecting his wife (he's never been concerned about her before), it's about the Clinton's trying to protect their political future. I can't imagine what there is to be afraid of. She needs to put it behind her and just open it up.
