Just for your information Mr. Editor
MULLA was trained by whom, it was USA
MILITARY is aided by whom, it is USA
MUSH is a pet of whom, it is BUSH
Now if the MULLA , MILITARY and MUSH are making troubles for you, who needs to be blamed. At least be a little realistic before spreading such shameful reports

You Are very right Mr. Editor to the fact that Pakistan is becoming the dangerous most place on the face of the earth, but we need to know who is putting fuel on the burning deck. It is America and its Preasident who wants to see another Moron like MUSH grow well and become more stronger. MUSH is double crossing every one you can follow his track record and it wont be difficult for an average person to find out that the fellow started with a coup to wrap up a democratic government illegally and then using thieves of gujrat and Bush made a succesful entry into the worlds politics. On the other hand he has been asking other group in his own government to create a havoc just to keep the Europe and Bush thinking that they can still look for the spares in this junk yard. Mush is a great double crosser but Mr. Editor greater part of the problem is your country which is preaching democracy but excercising Monorchy. Its a shame is'nt it

I find this article offensive. When was the last time Newsweek reported on something good happening in Pakistan. Unbiased Journalism? I'm afraid not.

Where is the historical perspective in your article? What has led to this situation? The U.S., in their quest for global domination, waged a war on Afghanistan thirty years ago. We are still dealing with the consequences of that war - in terms of drug infiltration, refugee crises and the growing population of extremists. Don't forget that you funded these terrorists and still do so. Thirty plus years of inconsistent policies by the U.S. has led to this situation and unfortunately cannot be rectified on a short term basis.

I am a mother of two. I do not want my children to grow up in a country labelled as "the most dangerous Nation." Pakistan has many positives to write about. Why can't you do stories on Dr. Adeeb Rizvi, Abdul Sattar Edhi or Dr. Ruth Pfau. Cover the arts, the movie/art festivals held in different cities.

Stop being so morbid about Pakistan. And stop portraying this country in a negative light all the time. Send your reporters Ron and Mike to investigate some positive elements. Your responsibility is to cover all aspects of society - not just one.

pakistani prisedent gen.musharraf has imposed emergency in the country by saying that ... pakistan's stability in dangour... in other words an atomic country is unstable.... pakistan's governoment and millitary has proved it that pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world.... there is no warranty that pakistan has not sold it atomic weapons to alqaeda or taliban or iran or any other extremist groups. enough is enough its time to unite and break this un-natural and unstable a threat for the world like country ..... with the existence of pakistan no peace in the world .... then waiting for what just erase it from the globe....

c(4): We, a nation of a hundred and fifty million people are suffering at a war that is becoming more and more unwinnable by the day. The war on terror is never won by weapons and fighting but by winning over opinion.

Do you think that by blindly supporting Israel while they trigger happily use American made aircraft to steam roll Palestinian neighborhoods, annexing Iraq in a most imperial manner and the haphazard operation in Afghanistan and the Pakistani Tribal Areas is going to make you friends- you are seriously wrong!

Thanks a lot people ??? Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world. I know ??? I live in it.

c(3) There are stories of our soldiers giving up or deserting on your front lines because they???ve been at it for years watching their friends get mowed down by guerillas. Our soldiers who years before 9/11 were mobilized on the border with India are now fighting a war that America waged because they didn???t have the common sense to realize that it might bite them in the ass years later.

And yes back in America, we have everyone screaming ???THE PAKIS ARENT DOING ENOUGH???!

Just what the *** more do you expect out of us America? I don???t give a rat???s ass if Obama wants to send your people over to bomb places in Pakistan because???brrr???. Osama might be there. To hell with your rhetoric people ??? don???t bomb something nearby me indiscriminately ??? its probably somewhere on the way to the place I work.

c(2): So our pro-American government which has been fighting the war in Afghanistan with an army that wonders why its doing so ??? making us do all the dirty work while some jackass US soldier opens up fire on a wedding with a gunship ??? it only makes you more hated.

We have been blindly fighting your war and have been losing people ??? civilians
and military both. ???Terrorists??? become terrorists because some jackass operation has been conducted in one of our tribal areas because incredibly faulty intelligence led someone to believe that Osama was hiding there. In the process the terrorist becomes a terrorist the second he loses his home, a relative, a friend, his means of living because of indiscriminate ???cleansing??? operations that are performed either at the behest of the Americans or done so themselves.

C(1) : Here???s something to the people who call us that ??? we???re fighting YOUR stupid war on the Afghan border.

It???s your fault that weapons were handed out like candy during the Afghan war and after it was over you packed up and ran off without cleaning up any of the mess that you created.
You decided to attack Iraq on flimsy grounds not us. Knowing fully well it would have jeopardized all the good will the sympathy the US got after 9/11 in the Muslim world which it previously didn???t have; you did it anyway because someone out there wanted to make a buck.

What appalls me the most, God help us all, is that my own beloved country just might be the most dangerous nation in the world. Our stupidity and arrogance just may be the cause of WW III. And I do mean stupidity, not ignorance. Ignorance simply means a person does not possess the requisite information to speak knowledgably on the subject. Stupidity, on the other hand, means the person actually does know better, but they simply refuse to operate on that information. Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and consciencious stupidity."

[ part II of my comment ] On another dimension of thought and policy making, I wonder US and UK have spent billions of dollars in ' fight against terrorism ' in Pakistan. If they could have directed even half of that amount of money in building infra structure, jobs creation and supporting the economy, the civil well being could have achieved. By strengthening the economy of Pakistan rather than selling them arms only could be an option worth exploring. I hope that the American and other journalist do a better job in learning about Pakistan from educated people than shamefully illetrates who have ' Osama Bin Laden is a hero ' kind of understanding of current regional politics. If they cant, they better give Pakistan some break.

It is obvious that the editor and other writers of this report are either ignorant or oblivious of underlying currents of different terrorist elements that spring sporadically as flash points in Pakistan. We have a very well known history of a porous border with Afghanistan and Iran and a large area in the NWF province quite out of administrative control of Pakistan government and military. Pakistan has suffered at the hands of smugglers and drug lords coming from an almost lawless state like Afghanistan spreading drugs and guns for over last three decades. At the same time, the intrinsic small but loud element of Islamic fundamentalists who are pitifully so unaware of the global politics and its impact on Pakistani interest, actively continued tarnishing the image of this state embroiled in long standing multidimensional geographic wrangling. However, the link between such evil elements is nearly non existent. Pakistan as a country and Islamic nation has been an ever swelling target of cross border sponsored terrorism, political corruption and western prejudice with little interest in knowing - facts - first - judging later. I saw the video clip on the website of MSNBC of the report related to this article and got the striking impression that when these guys in print media business in US and west dont have anything to do, they turn to Pakistan and resume talking and writing the same story they successfully sold tens of times over the past few years. They do not, like in this report both written here and on the newsvideo clip, fulfill their obligation to fair journalism, which they do most of the time while working at home. The situation in Pakistan is mostly over sensationalised mostly by throwing the nuclear bomb, Islamic fundamentalism, Afghan and NWFP terrorists in one pot to make a stew. It is ironic that while there are quite a lots of regions in the world that are targetted by terrorists of different regions, the hunger of the press to isolate their roots is quite little. The media follow what governments of US and UK point at, mostly. The world is still not provided any concrete evidence of US and UK governments and their allies description of terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda. What people see is that literally speaking every act of terrorism around the world is blamed on Al Qaeda. Everybody in the world want the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay be presented and prosecuted in the court of law and justice. That would be the opportunity for the world to see who are really terrorists and who are innocent victims of the extreme heavey handedness of powers of US and UK and its allies. That might put the super powers in a place where they might appear rather more dangerous states than poor countries like Pakistan. [ Continued in part II since I ran out of space here. Please print both parts together. Thank you so much. ]

Completely false report. Very much biased and prejudice. The fact is that Pakistan is the ONLY country which is using all its resources to combat terrorism and being neglected due to muslim country. The economy going excellent despite all the neighbouring enemies around her. The neighbours like Afghanistan are being influenced by Indians to destablise the country. World know how Muslims are being killed around the whether it is Afghanistan, India or Palestian. It is most ashamed that Muslims are most scattered today than ever and therefor being used against each other.
USA is responsible what is today Taliban Gangsters using in Pakistan. The arms used to be supplied to these people by US allies to destablise USSR.
World will not remain the same inshallah. God gives courage to those countries who are on right track. Pakistan is going in right direction. I believe most dangarous country on the earth would be India after Indians given civilian nuclear deal. SHAHID AHMED ahmedsh80

Completely ridiculous report. Based on partiality and prejudice.
Pakistan is already doing more than its strength and strange very very very strange; west always leave Pakistan after victory or defeat. In fact most dangerous is US and those peoples protecting "EVILS" killing innocent children, women and old man by USA-allied occupation army. This is the Reality.......and shameful!
The more shameful fact is that USA/UK/NATO having modern arsenal, trained-army, well equipped network is still failed and now blaming Pakistan to save their NAME / FAME, instead accepting their vulnerability and non-professionalism !

strange very very strange the article is writen by newsweek editor but pakistani brain washed people are writing against west specially uk and usa . This is also a prove that pakistani products (brained washed people) are spreading all over the world. it is true " kill the mother of evil = pakistan to stop the birth of another evil ". yes editor i agree with you PAKISTAN IS THE MORST DANGEROUS COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

  • Posted By: Mr.Baloch @ 11/01/2007 6:27:26 PM

I am Pakistan , no I am Satan , no I am Pakistan , no I am Satan . Don???t worry folks Satan or Pakistan anyhow I am the evil.
Unbelievable I have not thought that I will see such a truly justified and a wonderful article from any western news paper. Yes now we balcoh can hope that usa and Europe will stop their funds to Pakistan or at least will try to find out where the funds are being used. I think now the worlds civilized nations will understand when a baloch says Pakistan is killing the innocent balochs by its terrorist acts after occupying the land of balochistan . I hope now the world will understand a baloch's voice when he says Pakistan is backing Taliban???s (its own products) to kill baloch nation. I know the west will understand why baloch nation is struggling to kick out the invaders ( well trained terrorists =Pakistani military) from balochistan.
First as an atomic power stability of a country is must. Which is not true in case of Pakistan? When a country like Pakistan which is administered by terrorists , extremists , talibanized military becomes an atomic power it becomes more dangerous than an earthquake because an earthquake only do physical damages which could be rebuild but terrorism , extremism and talibanizing erases the human brain and changes a person to a cruel killer animal.
I appeal to the civilized world please unite to stop this uncivilized extremists worlds most dangerous country the killer animal Pakistan before it gains the target (changing mankind to killing machines). Please stop human bombers (products of Pakistan) before its too late.

i agree with the newsweek that pakistan is the most dangrous country in the world few examples of pakistani products extremism, terroim, talibanization, selling of atomic veapons, traning of pakistani stamped jahadis, killing of innocent people, martial law in other words no law instead of rule of law, cheating, corruption, etc in total you call pakistan is equal to evil. result no peace in presence of evil so if the world wants peace the should unit to fight agianst evil

    continued from below..
people from all over the world come visit Pakistan every year and they are surprised by what they see.. nice weather, beautiful architecture, rich culture and history, exotic food, loving and welcoming people and what not.. THAT is the real Pakistan and not the tens of crazy fanatics who blow themselves up for anything andandeverything.. the blasts did happen and that was very unfortunate but they could have been avoided and still alot needs to be done to that end.. we need to start bringing the the divide of the liberals and the fanatics to a possible close and engage them in discussions.. we cannot entirley blame the west or the zionists or even the current Pakistani establishment for that matter.. we have to take responsibilty for our failures and shortcomings and then work on them accordingly keeping our objectives in mind.. now with all that said i would again like to say that i detest the reporter`s and columnists` assumptions and would like to say that it was extremely unprofessional of them to join the bandwagon and not do justice to their work which has affected so many people adversely.. i`d like these men and others who think the same to actually visit Pakistan and interact with it`s people before writing such a ridiculous article.. i`ve gone through some comments below and it`s obvious that every1 wants to push their agendas and try to bring in their personal grudges with issues that are compltely irrelevant and out-of-date like the balochi attrocities (which is again a myth) and the fact that indian were killed by freedom fighters in kashmir which is again stupid cuz it`s the indians who have occupied Kashmir wrongfully and have killed millions of Muslims there so how could one not expect some form of a freedom struggle in that troubled valley to emerge?.. anyway, that`s a separate debate.. in the end i would just want to convey my displeasure with newsweek on this rather pathetic story that they`ve come up with.. i`m sure they`ll be losing their credibility and alot of their readers in the near future if this practice goes on

  • Posted By: ShahiKhan @ 11/01/2007 5:05:55 PM

I am appalled and obviously disappointed.. as a young Pakistani I interact with a lot of people on a daily basis and almost all of them don`t care about being extremists or liberals.. all they care about is how to provide for their families and make both ends meet or probably if they could manage to go watch the next film being released...This preconceived notion about Pakistan being a terrorist haven is frankly getting old now.. pppp ppppppeople from all ove rthe the blasts did happen and that was unfortunate but that`s just the work of a
