Does America rank number 2 or is this only a list of the so-called "3rd world nations"?

what happened to world after 9/11...who is Osama? who was Saddam (if he is dead)? very close to american government in 80s and even early 90s.
what happened to afgahns when russia lost? where was world then? did they not know that halfof the nation has left.
whats happening in afghanistan and iraq? have they been successful and if anyone says yes, then what a success it is for humanity!
the people the authors have met in pakistan...how valid are they.....

The fear the world has that its nuclear armed....and ofcourse as true american (if the authors are), they would be amnesic for hiroshima and there is no mention of vietnam in american history. and what have been achieved in iraq and afghanistan? the President of Afghanistan was living and lived most of his life is states....what a joke!
its very simple...MIGHT IS RIGHT...US feels that they would do what it pleases and suit them.
going into pakistan with army wont be a solution, it might become another kabul or bghdad...but wont be great fro the south asia including india which is on road to progression ......as they say it over and over again.
the democracy........certainly BB taking over does not mean that its democratic gov. because the daughter of east (as she call herself) comes from the most authoratarian background herself.

It is also time Paki politicians, Army brass, ISI realized that terrorism is a bad policy in Kashmir. Like an untamed lion, it is now turning on its own benefactor.

A good article

A nice article. Many Pakis here are being emotional. Bush said that Pakistan is now Ground Zero for Terrorism. That is where all terrorist related ideas are conceived and executed. Every terrorist act in the world has some links to pakistan. It is for Pakis to honestly acknowledge this and do whatever it takes to correct the problem. That might just save that nation. Otherwise i see Pakistan slowly withering awary.

I think the name of your magazine should now be changed to Weak News instead of newsweek or newsweak, infact ivery very weaknews should be more suiteable for this amazing fiction magazine. God knows how you can think of these things, you must be very clever people who can make such a big news out of nothing and can easily blame other nations for nothing and say nothing about your own evil rulers and the evil nation who elects these monsters.

I am no extremist. I am just deeply sorry that millions of our countryen died because of something as stupid as religion. God must so hate religion..See how every religious country gets screwed, whatever be the religion. We nned to rejoin our country. In fact the appraoch to disarm militants is not correct. The writer has accepted that militants were trained to fight Soviet Union in Afghanistan. For this purpose Ziaul Haq, who lead the war, received huge funds from the US. It means militants in Pakistan and Afghanistan were trained by Pakistan with the complete support of the US to defeat the Soviet Union. After completing its mission of disintegrating the Soviet Union, the US left these militant forces un-attended. And it decided to disarm them after the 9/11 by force without realising that such approach would create more destruction and would make militants more infuritated. If the democtic institutions were streghten in Pakistan and the areas in Pakistan which were breeding ground for militants should be brought into mainstream of the democracy. Through democratic approach militancy could be wiped out in a decade. Because there is room for militancy in democratic societies like Europe and America.

I am a twelve year old boy from Karachi, Pakistan.I have read the article and I would like to comment that yes i agree that there have been some problems here and there by miscreants. But i go to school everyday and when i get out of the car i do not bother to even take a look behind me thinking that I am safe.I am not worried that someone is going to attack me, instead I live a completely free liberated life, go to public places,resteraunts etc. I speak for my whole family when i say that other countries mistake religious people for extremists/terrorists while in Pakistan there are good moderate Muslims who don't hate the west,yes there are a few groups of Muslims who give Islam a bad name and make Pakistan some thing that it is not (the most dangerous nation in the world).No one I know supports Al-Qaeda or the Taliban or any of the extremists what so ever.

I very much agree with Sheikh Rashid that the lawlessness, agencies and power craving politicians have given enough space to extremist from around the world to build and establish themselves in Pakistan. If we see from that prospective, yes Pakistan seems to be dangerous ( not saying the most dangerous ) but then if you see from the other side of the picture, we have lawlessness and that allowed these suiside bombers to get trained and explode themselves in our mass rallies, but why UK gave space to these people to get trained and attack there public transport system? why USA gave space to these people to attack there twin towers? why there is bombing in Iraq every 2nd day and US armed men die but still Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world?
All I want to say with these few and not all examples is that commenting is very easy but come up with your statistics if you are comparing otherwise you are ruining the credibility of the magazine.
As a silent protest I will not read newsweek from now on and I cancel my subscribtion from today.

If you are a Pakistani, then people like you are I am sure which are causing troubles in Pakistan. Your soul is so corrupt Mr. Rashid that you do not even know what you are saying. And, if you are not a Pakistani then please stay away from our internal affairs. Muslims overall, are in a state of problems. That does not mean we give up on each other. If the terrorist says that he gets pleasure out beheading people then that does not mean it represents the majority of the people in Pakistan. Mr Sheik Rashid why don't you go back to your palace and see what is going on. I will not say more to you, because I am strongly against insulting any muslim or Pakistan on a public forum.

Weakening the Pakistani Intelligence apparatus, and dismantling Pakistani nuclear program are the main objectives of key players of this game: USA, and Britain. Others, like India and Afghanistan are the support characters. Destroying Iran, and encircling China in the long run are the goals, in which a weak character like Benazir can be of immense help to the script writers of the current drama.

You dont need to write a long comment against this article. In short three words "west against Islam". The article is propagating and creating a wrong impression to the global arena. It seems after Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, Pakistan is the next target. Who ever wrote this article, please note that if Pakistan is the most dangerous nation than Americans are the most brutal people in the world. In recent history no natural clamity, no disaster and no femine killed as many people as the US forces killed...may be they can wipe entier nations and still call it colateral damage. A large majority believes that CIA was behind the suiscide bombing on Oct 18, 2007. To the author, kindly let us know whether US is the most brutal nation or not?
