What an ideal picture of India painted here by Karaswart. India is the country where Babri mosque, Golden Temple and brutal incidents of raping nuns and burning them alive took place.
However, the discussion here is about Pakistan and the fact is that the more Mr Musharraf is trying to impose his so-called ENLIGHTENED MODERATION on people , the more they slide towards religion. Pakistan was a country where people were always moderate in religious ideologies and lived side by side. The attempt to bring people from the moderate middle class to liberalism actually takes more people into living their lives more strictly according to their religion.
Aggression is never the answer to political problems and they are always solved through dialogue and discussion. I can't understand why Mr Musharraf can't understand that but then why do i foget that he is an army General.

Now you are addressing them as sick people why Indian government did not thin about sick people those who has attacked on Indian Parliment, why that time India put one million army on Pakistan border. I do respect journalists either they are hindo or mulim but whole government of India tried to hide this. 2ndly i do agree with you that partition is not good. Demand of Pakistan was correct but partition must be taken place as per the percentage of muslim in India. So all the muslims should be on one country and hindo in other.

  • Posted By: karaswart @ 10/27/2007 11:19:15 AM

MA Rana: Tehelka did a great job in exposing the sickos. That is the greatness about Indian democracy. There are sick people all over the world- in a secular democracy they are thrown up and ultimately punished. Please do remember that people fighting the cause of Muslims in Gujarat ( including journalists of Tehelka, Teesta Seetalvad etc. ) are all Hindus. That is why I hate partition, it somehow resulted in the alienation of a lot of Muslims in India, as more Muslims stayed back in India than went to West Pakistan. People were peacefully living together before, the great melting pot that is India.

However, whatever I said about Muslim achievements in India is true. Remember, India is a huge, huge country way beyond a couple of cities in Gujarat.

if pakistan has had a handful of suicide bomb attacks it's not because of Taliban, it's pakistanis who hate the present government in pakistann. the same government america is supporting. why are there sanctions and talks on boycotting countries on which dictators rule ( mugabe in zimbabwe) while pakistan's dictator is given full support

we demand an apology from newsweek for declaring Pakistan as the most dangerous nation of the world. For editor's info when he published this document at that time American Ambassador to Pakistan was visiting Karachi without any fear so if this is the most dangerous country of the world then why your ambassador moves so freely. Can you ambassador to iraq move without any fear? The answer for sure is NO......but in Pakistan American Ambassador went to different sectors including a private television office without any fear

  • Posted By: karaswart @ 10/27/2007 11:03:56 AM

Umair: That is entirely true. However, we Indians love the US. Plus, they need us there..33% or more of Silicon Valley start ups are by our people. Plus we run most of their IT systems- top to bottom. Good ol' USA. There is no hypocrisy in India about the US. It is a great country and we love it. As we love Israel.

karaswart if usa asks for 10 applications then according to you 10 million will apply but to get your facts correct we have a population of 160 million so its almost 1:16 persons who is interested in usa green card and that's a big difference....in my opinion if same thing is said abt indians almost all of them will apply for the green card :)

This is regarding the artical in your issue about Pakistan.
Sir, I would like to request you that this type of media trials about our country must be stopped since it will harm relations of both of our countries. As you know that Pakistan is front line country alongwith America fighting against terrorism and we have always extended our full support in this fight to you. Please be informed that we are one nation and are always united to repel any aggression against our country. Therefore I request you and all other American media to please, please dont release any article about our country which could heart our sentiments.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

That is not true old chap. The Americans never really loved you, and you were never their 'allies'. They used you whenever they needed you- in exchange for payment. Like some men do when they are staying away from home..you know what I mean. The choice to be used and abused was entirely yours. At least the whore can blame the pimp...

  • Posted By: M.A.Rana @ 10/27/2007 10:46:51 AM

Mr.Karaswart: i think you did not see the Thalka.com stin movie about Gujarat. Please go and see before writing any thing about Muslims in India.

  • Posted By: AhmedQuraishi @ 10/27/2007 7:06:35 AM

It's quite obvious the Americans have started creating a global opinion about Pakistan that would ultimately justify taking action against this country. This is the same psy-op campaign that we saw against Afghanistan and then Iraq. My advise to the Pakistanis is this: See the chaos in your country today? Your troubled regions are only those that adjoin an American-ruled Afghanistan. And these regions became troubled only after the Americans came to the area in 2001. I rest my case.

    • Posted By: karaswart @ 10/27/2007 10:38:21 AM

True old chap. But it will begin from Iran and end in Saudi via Pakistan.

  • Posted By: RehanMasoodBhatti @ 10/27/2007 4:21:30 AM

    To All the Pakistani Fellows:
Newsweek will never apologise, neither will they take back the issue. So there's no point in insisting that again and again. We all should better counter the false and baseless argument forwarded by the writers of this article.

    For the Bloody Indians:
Go, and plan to kill more Muslims there. You are born for this purpose.

    • Posted By: karaswart @ 10/27/2007 10:35:37 AM

Calm down old chap!!! We have more Muslims in India than you have in Pakistan. All our Bollywood heros for instance. Our main classical music gharanas for instance. The richest man in India for instance. Incidentally, the best Durga Puja in Calcutta worshipping Kali ma is held in the muslim music maestro's house. As for me? Damadam Mast Kalander!! In serach of the great infinity...

Realy sad reading this article in a US based magzine "NewsWeek" , the country who claims to be the champion of Democracy and who claim that truth should come out in the form of 'freedom of expression'. But by this articloe they have proved that they are totaly baised about the truth and freedom of expression..........
They have their own standards of declaring a state failed or successfull and one should't belive on such analysis, articles and stories. All pakistanis and muslims all over the world should take strong notice of this and condemn this act of poor reporting and geournalisim.

I am a proud American of Pakistani origin. I am suprised to see how our conutry is interfering in other natiions' internal matters by openly supporting a candidate whose govt was the world's most corrupt one during her power, and she has corruption charges not only in Pakistan but in Switzerland, UK, Spain, and some other countries. I do not think that we would appreciate if Russia, China or any other country interefers in our election process, that is why we should stay neutral in other countries matters too. If we support democracy, then let the people of Pakistan make the choices, and we should not dictate them what to do or impose a leader of our choice on them. I am sure that if free and fair elections are held, Bhutto will win some seats but not enough to change the constitution to make her eligible for prime minister's pos. third time. I hope that all the leaders of Pakistan would be allowed to come back and participate in Pakistan's politics and work togather under the leader ship of Pervaiz Musharraf, overwhelmingly elected President of Pakistan. Pakistan is a very strong Nuclear power, and its assets are safe. It does not matter how much politcal differences are there, all of the leadrs are patriotic, and none of them would allow those assets to go in wrong hands. Pakistan has nuclear bombs as deterrants, and has never ever posed any threat to any nations. The world is in danager from the countries which has used the atomic bombs in the past and are capable of using it again.

      But Pakistan bashing is fun!!!

  • Posted By: rabiashahid @ 10/26/2007 2:45:50 PM

karaswart ur so full of nonsense, i have come to conclusion that there is no point in trying to talk to a person who is STUCK IN THE PAST. get over your mommy india philosophy!!! u might have made india for what ever holy reasons (ya! a caste system is holy) , but something better came out of it accept it!
its better to turn to a place more rich in culture and tradition (Arab) than turn to some cow worshipping, pis drinking and believers of a ugly discriminating cast system practicing society.
u know somebody tell me something where did indians jump into this anyway, they are such big attention seekers, everything is about them. i bet they think sept 11 was planned by isi to kill a few indians in world trade centre. india is not even imp in this war of terror, stop trying to divert attention to your trivial and petty issues. this discussion board is about a totally different issue i.e how judgements should not be passed on a nation and the urban cities of Pakistan are far from talibanisation.
by the way i have this Italian friend i am showing him around and he LOVES Pakistan, may be you can come down here to Lahore and see how amazing Pakistan. but dont go back in tears and regret cuz i know one thing would be looming in your mind after seeing Lahore, why is such a great city not a part of India, but hon! thats precisely the point its great cuz its not in india!
    :)

Dear Pakiatanis: I see you have all got your collective knickers in a twist over this article. But everybody (barring Muslims) believes this already. But in your heart of hearts you all love the USA. As a test of this if the US asks for 10 applications for Green Cards in Pakistan, I am sure 10 million will apply. It is a question of ' Yankee Go Home - ( but pleeeese take me with you).

Save some of your literary abilities for the events about to unfold on your western borders...

Pakistan has provided the highest number of peace keepers to the UN for its efforts in all troubled areas. It has also suffered the highest number of casualties in such efforts.Pakistan undoubtedly, is the most effective and useful US ally in its war against terror. It has proved through demonstration being a reliable and safe nuclear power which has capabilities since over eleven years. This is enough proof of its nuclear arsenal being in safe hands.
This Newsweek report defies all ground realities. According to a similar study by the magazine Forbes, which has published the list of most dangerous countries of the world, Pakistan is in the middle of the list. Interestingly, according to a survey conducted in the US universities, United States of America is considered the second most dangerous country in the world, trailing North Korea. Following excerpts should interest readers about the truth or deceit of the American high profile media.:

"Almost one third of faculty lists America as the 'greatest threat to global stability.' About 29% name the United States, second only to North Korea (70%). The third choice was Iran, 27%. China was named by 19% of faculty, Iraq 13%, Israel 12%, Pakistan 8%, Syria 7%, and Russia 4%. Faculty see the United States as a greater threat to world stability than Russia by a ratio of 7-to-1. Nearly half of humanities faculty, 46%, see the United States as a threat to international stability, as do 34% of social science faculty."

Pakistan bashing has become a norm for the American media. Above excerpts would prove the extent of deceit in this policy. Perhaps, it has covert designs, like those for Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq under Saddam.

I think the cove story is very much result of sensible and ground reporting
If Pakistani and v ISI,s did not support Taliban in 1994 , Alqaeda wouldn???t be able to make planning in Afghanistan under Taliban regime to attack 9/11.

it clear like crystal that still Pakistan is a hub of Taliban, Alqaeda, extremism and that is casing worried for rest of the world.
Attacker in 7/7, Spain, Germany all have back link and routes with Pakistan and that why I think the headline of the Newsweek was pretty much accurate.

Typical biased American media's Article backed by Right Wing War mongers. . A Biased American Journalist is twisting stories from the failed American policies in Middle East and in Afghanistan.
Who created a mess in Iraq on the name of finding WMDs? CIA
Who supported Saddam Hussain to become a monster? CIA
Who created a mess in Pakistan in 80's to Defeat Russians in Afghanistan by creating all these Jihadi groups including Osama? CIA
So Pakistan was a Good ALLY when it played a role in the dirty politics of War Mongers in Washington?
Newsweek's Shameful attempt in ignoring the actual causes behind a mess in that Part of the world and it is also an attempt to Brainwash American public opinion like FOX News by Islam bashing and ignoring FAILED policies in Washing DC.
