There has not been one instant in history where the KORAN HAS brought peace. It is their culture. Christianity has evolve, just like barbians eventually became civilized, so did Christianity. Even moderate Muslims are swayed by the JIHAD CHApter. The offspring of these moderateds have already carried out attacks in England and have tried in Canada and AMerica. What is amazing is how they are influenced by the Iraq war. They turn on the T.V and become enraged. There only hope to strike back is JIHAD. Remember Muslims have been indoctrinating there own for centuries. They have finally perfected it. This chapter allows leaders to indoctrinate their people all around the world. The " Ayattolah" has used this doctrine on Salman Rushdie who is an INDIAN. The only way to deal with a nuclear threat, is in private. We should gurantee all countries FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS. However if the people choose an extremist government then they must know the consequences. IT IS THESE SAME CONSEQUENCES THAT have DETERed RUSSIA FROM USING THEIR NUCLEAR ARSERNAL AS MUSCLE. WE WILL Annihlate YOU if you threaten with nuclear weapons. That is why the Middle East Government threaten Israel because they know better. The same goes for pakistan, any government that takes power after Free and Fair Elections, will be delivered the same message, In addition, they will assist us in the HUNT FOR BIN LADEN. Keeping Bin LADEN alive seems to be making a lot of people rich. We need to get Bin Laden and get the hell out of pacistan, let nations determine their own future. Nations cannot do that without a strong constitution that is followed like the KORAN.

WE NEED TO GET BIN LADEN AND GET THE HELL OUT OF pacistan. Let the U.N do their job. Let's use our force through the U.N. or through an ARAB===ISRAELI COUNCIL, which includes all countries in the region like INDIA, WARIKSTAN, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan. China and India have historically and traditionally had much more in common then uncommon, therefore the grounds for cooperation are naturally existent. We need to build alliances with these nations and let them put the pressure on their neighbors when the misbehave. We well then keep those force in check. It is a lot cheaper or "cost effective", to be smart and build alliances rather than unilaterally attacking these destablization issues, like the death of BHUTTO. The death of Bhutto was a direct result of the JIHAD CHApter. A young man subliminally indoctrinated to destroy his life and twenty one others including BHUTTO, was brainwashed by JIHAD to carry out a political assissination. You cannot seperate Mosque from state in the Muslim world. There should be JIHAD waged against those who misuse this doctrine like the Ayatolah and pacistani military leadership. It is obvious that these leaders knew their reign of power was over and that Bhutto was going to let the "AMERICANS" run the country. It should be no surprise that this assissination happened, in fact the victim even e mailed her own murderers. America needs to stop forcing the issue they should of brought BHUTTO back humbly. SHE SHOULD NOT have been parading. This is war, JIHAD means war. WHEN WILL WE UNDERSTAND THAT THESE people have declared war. BHUTTO is death could have been prevented if people really understood what JIHAD means.

Someone has given idea to divide Pakistan, how can one think that any province or place can think of being without Pakistan,Without Pakistan every province will be engulfed by the nieghbouring states;Punjab and Sindh by India, balochistan by Iran Pakhtoonistan by Russia or Afganistan. So accept the truth that Pakistan is the only lifeline for the Muslims of South Asia.

    • Posted By: karaswart @ 12/29/2007 4:00:23 PM

And why would such a division be wrong/

      • Posted By: Tamil @ 12/29/2007 5:01:44 PM

Then divide India according to what Tamil Nado separatists say and why you try to hold kashmir which has never been part of India?

  • Posted By: saj_alex@yahoo.com @ 12/29/2007 1:00:07 PM

It appears that the Newsweek article was quite prescient after all.
With Bhuttos death who really knows what is now in store for Pakistan.
Will it be more like "apre me, le deluge' for pakistan or more of
"a tale full of sound and fury
    signifying little" ?

As always and as expected....indians are active in Pakistan bashing. I dont understand why these indians are so fond of, jealous of and afraid of Pakistan?? Can anyone answer please?

    • Posted By: karaswart @ 11/10/2007 7:24:17 PM

Yes. Because a wonderful country and civilisation was torn asunder for a reason as stupid as religion. Especially, as the reqason for founding it was illogical- huge number of Muslims were left behind in India.Millions died. Why? Pakistan will collapse under its own contradictions.

      • Posted By: ODOYO @ 12/29/2007 7:08:52 AM

When Pakistan collapsed India will inevitabaly.because India gives some rifgts to Muslims there with fear of Pakistan specially after nuclear Pakisatn .without Pakistan Indian Muslims will rise and totally I see no India

    • Posted By: Lahaina @ 11/09/2007 11:35:42 AM

Am not an Indian, merely rebutting some factual errors and misstatements made by others.
Moreover, if you read all the responses, you will see that Pakistanis blaming India was what motivated others to come to India's defence.
Plus, there was no need to drag Fareed Zakaria in this and pointing out his Indian ancestry. He is an analytical, calm and logical person, who can go beyond his family religion and origin of birth.
Dr. Zakaria has at times, correctly poined out flaws in the Indian system as well, which did not cause all this angst amongst Indians. Infact, tons of Indians are protesting any wrong doings with their own country.

Plus, if the U.S. govenrment can give you billions of dollars in just a few years, and billions more in the past decades, you might as well accept the fact they feel you are obligated to them; the US can expect Pakistan to toe the line and that they can criticize events in Pakistan that are contrary to their objectives.
The sad fact is that most of the money has gone into the pockets of corrupt individuals and not for the betterment of society/economy.
A peaceful, democratic and tolerant pakistan is in everybody's interest . InshanAllah

No indian is bashing pakistan. They dont need to.Guys are bashing yourselves.Jealous?of the situation pakistan?,some of us might be enjoing the bashing pakistan is getting, but are not directly bashing it.if you have noticed ,currently indians are busy stengtening their economy and going forward with nano tech,IT and space tech.we are not the one dealing with dictators, terrorist and interferance from the west in our internal affairs, indians are strong enough to take our desisions .i know the truth hurts, but thats what you get if you play with fire of terrorism.i wonder which country has the following.
      a) Instablity and dictatorship
      b) Terrorist training and support.Currently Al Quida, taliban and other schools of terrorist thoughts.
      c) Stolen Nuclear tech and Prolifiration in to the black market (at the highest level,so called father of the watever )
      d) Corruption at the highest level (Prime minister level)
      c) Puppet supporting of the Amerian dreams
Must be the Indians ,i am sure ,oh or is it swedes?
i can belive People who just live in such denial and hatered of other religion. Cant you people think out of the box and try to fix all the troubles you have landed yourselves.stop blaming everyone else, its you polticians who are bashing you ,not the indians-israel-american federation for destruction of pakistan council.

well realisticaly, Pakistan seems to be a dangerous place in western prospective as such voilence never happend there in recent times.Pakistan been going through a rough patch ever since its formation, so its not a big thing for people of pakistan to tackle such problems but yes People are serious this time and they will definitely bring that uncertain condition in pakistan to an end and a happy begining, Moreover, question rises, who has let pakistan to this situation? so answer is so simple, its Pakistani people itself who never come out against the dictators either they come from establishment or from the people themselves. so the day people will come out will be the day to end the voilence and ambiguous situation in Pakistan.

Every Corner of the world is dangerous now.Because CO2 reaches to every place whereever in the world you produce ,whether in Pakistan or India Salvenia or South Africa or New Papua Gini.
CO2 is more dangerous compare to Al qaeda

Pakistan has faced the international geoplitical politics in the Cold War era and then with India over Kashmir which has given space to the Non Governmental Militant Organizationa(NGMOs) .Pakistan is not most dangerous but the growing international political senario and the up coming another cold war between Russia and America is the most dangerous things which craft the national politicsof Pakistan.
Pakistan itself is peaceful Islamic State which can even brings a pure Islamic government may not affect an ything but is the international factor here.

Islamic Revolution in Pakistan according to the wishes of the West
    "When bleeds it leads",they say
What US or Pakistan does inside Pakistan is only to strengthen the Islamic forces.Becuase in the air strikes against the Teliban in NWFP an FATA regions have left manyi nnocents lifes dead.As areaction the joining people's number is multiplied day to day.And I see the day not far when this will spread all over the country ,which slowly has entered Punjab in rawalpindi fro the far North Western border region with Afganistan.
The result inevitably is Islamic Revolution according to the wishes of some international powers who want in Pakistan an Islamic conservative regime which would not shy to launch any SUICIDE NUCLEAR ATTACK on any of infedal country in its reach. And at the first hand are India,China and Russia which are the largest threat now for the Powers who are at war agaist the terrorists to empower them.

Comment: Sure, Al Qaeda had one of their soldiers kill Ms. Bhotto. They knew she would be strong and they caught her at the right time. Unfortunitely, this will cause complete meltdown of the political process in Pakistan. Musharraf is going to lose the elections and a terrorist government will be installed. With that terrorist government is going to be the first strike on America with a nuke. The government fails, the nukes are placed in the hands of radical Islamists and they will be distributed to terror networks world wide. Its a very sad day for the world. As time goes forward, our civilization de-evolves. Between war and all the chemicals we are releasing into our planets atmosphere, we are a doomed civilization. I just hope it doesn't happen in my childrens time because its coming sooner than expected. Pray to God for change.

  • Posted By: robert90804 @ 12/28/2007 2:13:02 PM

The Musharraf government is pro-American and is therefore doomed. The Islamists are in control in that region of the earth and there is nothing America can do to rectify the situation. With Bhotto's death, the Islamists will gain strength and Musharraf's party will lose and a pro-Islamic government will be installed. This means an atomic terrorist group will come of age and the USA is going to be the target. The Pakistani government needs to place their nukes in a secure environment before this happens or all out global war will result. Seems as though the peace process is in reverse as time goes forward. I pray that something is done before a major scale world disaster happens which will set in motion the end of civilization as we know it.

Somilia, USS COLE, First trade center bombing, embassy in Tanzania ect... duffle. The extremist movement against America begam after the first invasion of Iraq. American troop presence the root cause. I am not saying Hillary is not capable, I just think that Barak Obama has the right instincts and skills to tame that region. He is part of a movement that is very determined to succeed. Hillary Clinton will be an asset to the OBAMA presidency. Hillary Clinton is not a figure that will be welcomed in the traditional Muslim world as president, as a member of OBAMA's presidency YES. WHY?because it is a different culture. This is the first time a woman actually has a chance to become president. That is cutting edge even for our culture, imagine how it is perceived in the Muslim world, they are not ready yet. OBAMA just represents unity, it is what this country needs now. The Clinton's are my second choice.

Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister, and an extremely strong one, for 17 years. The Indian muslims loved her. Tansu Ciller was Prime Minister of Turkey. The late Benazir ws PM of Pakistan twice. Sheik Hasina was PM of Bangladesh. Begum Khaleda Zia was the other PM of Bangladesh.Raziya Sultan, a muslim queen ruled a large swathe of India a few centuries ago.

Where do you get your facts from???

Talk to our allies, cut the necessary deals to assure their particapation , and crush by whatever means necessary this threat to civilization. These are rabid animals need to be put down.

First of all being a Muslim and then as a Pakistani I am proud to be a Pakistani. As far as the report in question is concerned, I think it has been prepared with a hidden motive to defame Pakistani and create doubts about our ability to guard our nuclear assets. President Musharaf has clarified this time and again that nuclear installations are in safe hands and we have the safest strategic command and control system in the World. However, the USA , Israel and enemies of Pakistan wish to deprive Pakistan from nuclear status. The ongoing propaganda is a part of their plot to first create stir and panic in the world society and at the same time divide Pakistani on the basis of sectarian and linguistic lines. Pakistan is being urged to crack down on militants not because they consider them a threat to their existence but their main purpose is to broaden differences. However, the Pakistanis are aware of this evil design and we are prepared to sacrifice every thing to retain the coveted status of nuclear state. This report is baseless.

How do you feel about your safe country now? Now that a good person has been killed in cold blood in front of the world. Its sad how certain elements will do whatever they can to acheive the evil goals they have. The fact that your Pakistan is a newby with a nukey, is not very comforting in the least. We now wait to see what transpires and who is dumb enough to claim responsibilty for this ignorant and sensless act. Its evident someone didnt want a WOMAN elected....I guess Pakistan isnt so warm and fuzzy after all. My heart goes out to all the victims and famlies of this aweful event.

    Response to Syed Aliyazdan Raza.
First, I seriously doubt that Newsweek has no hidden motive to defame anyone. Their goal is to sell magazines and advertising to whomever will purchase them with whatever currency they choose to buy it with.

Second, the article does address the millions of dollars the U.S. funnelled into Pakistan during the Cold War. However, the article is not titled "The History of Pakistan." It's title "Where the Jihad Lives NOW."

Lastly, in reference your final paranoid line about evil design. The only evil design is that of extremists and terrorists. The only 'sacrifice' is to murder women and children in their efforts to take the world back to the days of ignorance and mud huts.

Interesting article but I have the following problems with it.
-In the article Pakistani leaders were blamed for creating Islamist monster. Let???s not forget that the Taliban was in part support by the CIA when it started operations in 1979. Conveniently the authors forgot to mention this important fact
-The article also failed to mention the main reason why the current President is so unpopular. It???s partly due to America???s involvement in internal politics and demands for continued support in ???War against Terrorism???
