Alter forgot to discuss Pon Paul. He's got a great pro-American message and is raising major league money and will win the New Hampsire primary. Ron Paul is the only Repulican that can beat Hillary. It's freedom and liberty vs. Hillary. Freedom wins.

I was fortunate to attend the first debates at the Reagan Library. Although I am a "Rudy" supporter, Huckabee is my second choice. Perhaps by the time the election comes around Huckabee may be my first choice.

Forget Huckabee. You're neglecting the most obvious rising superstar of Ron Paul. Ron Paul has a more zealous and inspired group of supporters than any other, is winning straw polls and debate polls, and is the only candidate who has the integrity and the wisdom to save our democracy. I am one of many who have joined the Republican party to vote for Paul. Do yourself a favor and research Ron Paul!

What a blockhead. He completely ignored the one candidate who has drawn more zealous and inspired competitors than any other. Ron Paul has brought thousands of people to the GOP and has a following that is almost Revolutionary. Forget the hokey Huckabee. Do yourself a favor and research Ron Paul!

The first time I heard Huckabee speak several months ago, I said, "Now THERE'S someone I could vote for. I still feel that way. As a middle-aged, middle class white female, I belong to a large, ACTIVE voting block. Mike is inoffensive yet capable, and his simple approach belies his appreciable intelligence. I read recently that voters tend to choose some one they can identify with. That's NOT Hilary. Let me say it here: I LIKE MIKE!!

The first time I heard Mike Huckabee apeak several months ago, I though, "Now THERE'S a man I could vote for!" I'm a middle-aged, middle-class white female, and as a class, we vote regularly. There's nothing offensive about this man, and his simple speech belies his appreciable intelligence. An article I read last week noted voters elect someone they can identify with. That's NOT Hilary. Let me say it: I LIKE MIKE!!!

Mr. Alter, thank you for such a thought-provoking article. I can only hope that the GOP leaders are reading it. I, for one, had given up on Newsweek many years ago, but their recent open-minded, fair coverage of Governor Huckabee's campaign is winning me back, and I'll read your column any day!

It's a shame that you neglected to mention a gentleman who is far more conservative than Mr. Huckabee; One with a great deal of success in straw polls and fundraising. Ron Paul has been cleaning up in straw polls in comparison with Huckabee, and if folks like you would start mentioning him in your articles, stands the best chance of a win for the Republicans.
