This is great!!! By dividing the Republican Party we can finally let the Democrats put a polarizing angry feminist into power. But wait, the Democrats are not happy with their front runner either so maybe they will split so we can have four small parties and with all of the current apathy in this country the only people that will go out to vote will be from Al Quida. I wonder who they want to win. Wake up people! This is not a time to divide our nation and let someone else conquer us. We should be looking for the best LEADER from any party, gender, race or religion to build up our country again. So far few have shown what it takes to lead us. We all need to learn the word COMPROMISE.

Right on pinkpanther!! To fully participate in the politics of the good ole U.S.A.,, the "Evangelicals," as is their wont, should have to pay taxes on their income(s), stocks, buildings, land, and other taxable assets--just like the rest of us!! Sic the IRS on the them: let the whining and knashing of teeth begin--in earnest.

A third party would almost certainly insure that Hillary would get in. We must vote for the lesser of the two evils. Just because the churches are tax exempt, does not mean christians don' t pay taxes. And although there are many charlatans out there who rake in money on a tax exempt basis and put it in their fat pockets. Not all christians do, we believe in helping the poor. I would gladly pay higher taxes if I thought they were going to help feed the hungry, provide shelter, and provide healthcare. We have the right the same as everyone else to stand up for what we believe in. And if there are so many people that disagree with christianity then it won't be a problem for anyone else, will it. The majority will win the vote. Christian faiths are very divided on their convictions and therefore the less than (20) percent may be divided on different issues. However, according to many surveys, 80 percent of Americans claim to be christians.

Evangelicals only want an Evangelical candidate. They are not tolerant of any others. I guess we are all God's children doesn't really include all. A third party with an Evangelical would be great. They could see from the embarassing loss how far out of touch with the country they really are.

I'm so tired of all the "value voter" press going to these ultra conservative mouth pieces. There is a whole center of Christians out here who are "value" voters. Our values are based on the Gospel of helping the widow and the oprhan - the poor, the environment, and health care. Not, like many conservatives, the politics of hate and judgement. Like the Bible says, we leave that to God. Let the media give us some attention and let's take back the word "values" from these hate radicals.

yes lets look at Jesus Christ, he hung on a cross and suffered, and today we have iv tubes to hook you up to make you suffer like Terri Schrivo! While Scott peterson dies with dignity, mercy, compassion, get the point i do not believe Jesus wantd man to suffer as he did, so we treat our animals that way, but not a human being, they can pay, for no quality of life for years and years as long as they have insurance! If all religions paid taxes, i would not have to say a thng, but they DO NOT so what gives them the right!!!

      1.1. Learn to spell.
      2. Use correct punctuation, capitol letters, etc.
      3. You sound very angry and I don't understand the entire Terri Shivro/Scott Peterson thing. He dies with dignity? Mercy? Compassion? He murdered his wife and unborn child. Get a grip.

Hey did everyone hear that Dumbledore is a pillow biter?

    • Posted By: Frost845 @ 10/23/2007 3:11:01 PM

This makes all the illiterate kids at my school who said that Harry Potter sucked and that Dumbledore was gay half right!

Basically the Evangelicals only care about evangelicals. They are not tolerant of anyone else and make no effort to be. I guess all God's children doesn't include all. A third party of Evangelicals would be just what they need. Only they wouldn't like the result of failure.

Wow. I thought this was an article on politics. Instead it seems to have invited pointless arguments about whether the country was or wasn't founded by Christians or Deists or whatever. I've always found this to be a spurious debate. At present, it doesn't much matter what religious world view motivated them. The election of 2008 doesn't turn on whether Ben Franklin was a Christian or a Deist, does it? As one of those deluded Christians to which an earlier post refers, I'm wondering why Land doesn't think its his job to promote the obvious candidacy of Mike Huckabee. He meets all of the conservative requirements for the Religious Right, and support for Land would go a long way to propel Huckabee into the first tier where he belongs. His refusal to do so is odd. Perhaps he enjoys the power of influence. Perhaps he doesn't like Mike Huckabee. However, if Land is genuinely concerned about supporting an appropriate candidate, his refusal just doesn't ring true. A third party will most assuredly bring about what he least desires: a Democrat in the White House.
    P. S. How is my spelling?

    • Posted By: sjfountain @ 10/23/2007 3:09:16 PM

Your spelling is great, your grammar and syntax enviable, and your thought processes admirable. Oh, God, you must be a democrat - or worse yet, a stinking liberal. (But you did forget the apostrophe in "it's his job.")

Let's form an Amercian Freedom Party to offer Americans MORE CHOICES on which party would be best to lead our country into the future.

This could be made up of conservatives and moderates who are dissatisfied with the present Two Party system.

Well u gotta tax preachers and churchs that get money from public people and use it to fund their families and new flashy cars! Also i dont think we live in germany so im not really worried bout what their taxs are used for!

  • Posted By: Leia @ 10/23/2007 3:06:49 PM

I am tired of being called left wing or right wing or extremist. And I pay my taxes and my church is not a trillion dollar business. We do not raise money for ANYTHING. Our members donate of their own volition, never forced. Yes I am a Christian, but I work for a living, have all my life and I listen to politicians from both sides to see who is the best candidate for the job. Sorry, much to your shock I am not a Republican, I'm a Democrat. Always have been.

  • Posted By: PatrioticMan @ 10/23/2007 3:05:20 PM

Let's form the American Freedom Party for individuals of a conservative or moderate "bent" which allows for MORE CHOICES in our political system.

When this coutry was formed, the Founders intended the government to gain its power from The People, the consent of the governed.

Many individuals are disatisfied with the current complicated tax code and the instrusiveness of the IRS. I support the idea of a FLAX TAX of 15% for every income level except those at poverty or below poverty. We need a gradual income tax from poverty 0% to 15% for those in the lower income brackets.

I also favor the consideration of a 1% national sales tax to cover consumption of goods by illegals and drug dealers who don't file tax returns or don't declare their full incomes. This might help to pay for Catastrophic Health Insurance for Americans who CHOOSE to have a government policy. Catastrophic Health Insurance should be OPTIONAL and not mandatory for citizens.

Let's GET GOING and form the American Freedom Party (freedom from the Republicans and the Democrats).

concerned citizen for CHOICE (3 party system)

Well the one good thing that the 13th Century had that we no longer do is Habeas Corpus

  • Posted By: pinkpanther87413 @ 10/23/2007 2:54:41 PM

A true Christian does not practice the Seven Deadly sins daily, not one, but all seven. ya even greed, gluttony and so on, even the good Christian Bush! If they want there own party, then they must ALL pay taxes to do so. No more free rides to anyone who wants to buy our governments highest figure heads position, not even the Church. If you want to play you pay, like the rest of us. You have been interfering for years, and now it's time to pay your taxes, and the religious right-left-center can pay for the childrens healthcare bill, with there taxes alone, as the Church is a multi-trillion doallar enity, who must now pay up to stand up in politics. So pay up, and quit whining we are broke cause our priest are not so holy, and warn the Pope he now is no longer tax deductable! You want politics, pay for it like the rest of us HAVE TO! You run you pay!!! Till you no longer exsist, and as we pay to come into this world, you will also pay to leave it, like the rest of us. No death till the bill is 10 million or more, and you must pay the bill like the reast of us! Tax Sundays income property all over the world and on donations as you will no longer be tax free!!! Goody another source of funds to play with for Uncle Sam!
