I'm guessing that YESMAR1965 is really Mike Huckabee :)

It's about time , get religion out of my country's politics and back under the rock from which it came. Go you're own way.

Was not the US Constitution written to include the seperation of Church and State? Did not our Founding Fathers leave a Land where they were persecuted for their seperation from the Church to form a new church-less government? God is NOT in the Consitution for a reason! This is America people. Remember our Freedoms. Having a religous third party would destroy the political fabric of this Great Counrty and throw us back to the Dark Ages.

    • Posted By: kw200 @ 10/23/2007 2:40:45 PM

Actually nbsinca, the words "separation of Church and State" are NOT in the Constitution.

      • Posted By: nbsinca @ 10/23/2007 3:01:03 PM

I was not quoting the Constitution. The Constitution affords us certain freedoms as Americans, one of those is choice. The choice of practicing a belief or NOT. This prevents the government from telling us WHAT to believe.

I wasn't quoting the Consitution. The Costitution allows us freedoms and one of those is choice. The choice to practice a religion without it being shoved down our throat by a government.

amen nbsinca!! You've got it absolutly right. It's a shame so many americans forget what this country was founded for. Keep religion out of politics, out of the courts, and off my money! You're all free to believe in garden fairies for all I care...just keep it to yourself.

Wow, Michael9012, you sound just like the terrorists. I'm very upset about these pathetic non-Christains here. You give all nonChristains, like me, a bad name. You disgust me. You use poeples spelling and grammer and insult them with it because you lack the eductation to counter their arguments. The most of you sound no better than the Christains you hate. And they say it is the right-wing Christains who spread the hate?
Read up on history. Whether you like it or not, Christains founded this nation and they most likly hoped to keep it a Christain nation. Just because they wrote the Consitition doesn't mean thats what they personally believe.
Oh, and please grow up. Bush is not a good President nut he is not the worst we have ever had. We have had far worse Presidents. I'm starting to think my fellow liberals are even more ignorant than the conservatives.
Religious groups actually do have good ethics and sometimes much more than non-religious groups. Of course sometimes they do not.

    • Posted By: science4pres @ 10/23/2007 3:00:46 PM

Hey t9900...Have you heard of Thomas Jefferson...He wrote a little document called the constitution. He was an atheist. While many of the founding fathers my have been christians, many were also deists and atheists, but abouve all they believed in secularism.

I think it's you who has some history reading to do.

  • Posted By: nannoo2003 @ 10/23/2007 2:59:52 PM

When are you god driven ,Right wing people going to realize that your position represents less than (20) twenty percent of the American voting population. What ever it is that you small minded Baptist's are trying to sell is not SELLING...!!! Get a clue !! Better yet, Get a life !!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand that Huckabee is the Christian Rights choice for the nomination, but doesn't Fred Thompson fill that role as well?

What about Ron Paul? He is Pro-Life and believes fervently in a strict interpretation of the Constitution....Why a third party when an experienced Legislator and Doctor who served his country is running?Enter Your Comment

Biggest mistake the Bible thumpers could make. They would assure Hillary's victory.

  • Posted By: willtyndal @ 10/23/2007 2:57:49 PM

Is Huckabee's success there a harbinger of things to come? Is he starting to gain some traction?
We'll see. Everyone says he does great when he speaks; everyone says he does great in the debates. But so far that hasn't translated either into fund-raising success or into a surge in the polls. " I am surprised by those who will not support the candidate that clearly, sincerely, and articulately defends the principles they claim to hold. Governor Huckabee has more experience than Mitt Romney in governing, and Arkansas is certainly not a Republican haven. If those who are leaders among the conservative Christian movement will not support Governor Huckabee, I think the people they are representing will. Check out www.mikehuckabee.com and see what has happened to his fund raising the last few days. Better yet, research for yourself who this man is and what he stands for, then "give him some traction" before the primaries start with your support.

Wm D who is illiterate? The USA had Christian religion in is forming, do you really know the American History of this country? This country was based on Freedom of Religion. This would indicate a worship of a God, not Athiest. If you prefer a non-religion government, move over to the Soviet Union, etc. They will love you there. I look forward to the rapture, thank you very much!

Actually through out most of Europe and many other developed countries God is not mentioned in their political bids for office. Since they went through seperation of church and state, having seen first hand the corruption of the church. But that is a history leason and I suspect you haven't read a lot.
The people who bring up religion a lot in politics are the US, developing worlds, and of course many of the countries we have been demonizing in the MIddle East. Odd the correlations there...

Does it mean that if someone is anti-bible that they are anti-family? Please peter fill us in.

Why do you have a problem with Mitt Romney's religion? Do you know anything about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? Did you know that is really our name, not Mormon's!! We too worship Jesus Christ of the old and new testaments. Did you know that we believe that the Bible is the word of God? Why persecute Romney or anyone else of our faith? If you have studied anything about our religion you would know these things, if now, whose word are you accepting at gospel? If you wanted to know something about a ford vehicle, would you ask a toyota dealer???? Not likely. Either you stand by a man who believes in God, the same God that you believe in and has morals and ethics much the same as you or you choose to stand by the immorals that are running against him. Get your facts straight before you start dishing someone for their religion.

    • Posted By: nonnie64 @ 10/23/2007 2:55:59 PM

And you ALSO believe that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, which IS NOT TRUE! I'll bet even YOU don't have all the facts about your religion. Ask your elders sometime why there are so many different versions of your "gospel" out there, and why all those changes were made. Get to the bottom of your own religion--you'll see why REAL Christians believe it is a cult of the highest order.

Good riddance to the trash of the country. Maybe we should give them their own state too - then they can regulate what their willing constituents eat, how they think, and what they dream too.

This guy Land is a real character. He talks about hating racism and bigotry and then has the nerve to equate JFK being a Catholic Christian and Mitt Romney being Mormon as past and present issues...as if these facts should even be part of the conversation. Listen, we already voted for Land's guy and for the past 6+ years we have had illegal wire taps, systematic trampling on the Constitution, soldiers and border patrol agents betrayed, persecuted and jailed by our government...and of course, let's not forget...the worst Commander in Chief...ever...no clue about strategy or an end game to this abomination of a WAR. Let us not forget that when W could have volunteered himself during the Vietnam conflict, he chose to fly his expensive planes around the US while 10s of thousands of young soldiers were being shot up in Asia.

The pretzel logic of the anti-gay movement rears its head again. How can you say you are "pro-marriage" then run a campaign to amend the Constitution to stop people from getting married? Either marriage is good for people or it isn't. If marriage is a good thing it is good for straight and gay people both.

    • Posted By: Mr. 101 @ 10/23/2007 10:57:05 AM

It would be easy to follow your argument to the following conclusion: "Either marriage is good for mammals, or it isn't. You should be able to marry three people, or even your dog, as long as it is mutually agreeable." To call what gays are asking for "marriage" does violence to the meaning of the word.

      • Posted By: stellamom @ 10/23/2007 2:53:20 PM

Mr. 101: That's pretty offensive, don't you think? Two people that decide to get married should be allowed to do it if any other two people are allowed to get married. You just likened gay people to dogs, other mammals or polygamists. Sixty years ago these same arguments were given in political debates to prevent whites from marrying blacks. "If we do not learn from history we are doomed to repeat it."

You mean like heterosexuals have. Look at divorce rates, adultery , and spouse abuse to name a few. Yah, heterosexuals have done wonders for marriage.

You mean like heterosexuals have done to it. Look at divorce rates, adultery, spouse abuse and other things. Yah, heterosexuals have done wonders for the institution of marrage.

I wonder how many so called "pro-life" evangelicals who put Bush into office realize how many innocent people died as a result of their moral vote?

  • Posted By: jimjimjim @ 10/23/2007 2:51:18 PM

Personal and/or religious beliefs are useless to anyone except oneself. However, to the ambitious, they are very useful to create/divide groups of people. $$$. Actions are useful.
