I have recently discovered something more amazing. It's called Creative Visualization and Relaxation (CVR) used with light and sound technology. The lights put you in a very relaxed state while you listen to sessions in whatever area of self-improvement you want. 20 minutes of this is like having a 3 hour nap. You wake up feeling really, really refreshed and energized. Its absolutely amazing and works very well if you are trying to lose weight, quit smoking , just shift to a positive way of life plus any other self improvement things you would like to do. Check it out at www.newreality.com. It can change your life!!!
I've recently come across something even better than a nap. Its call Creative Visualization and Relaxation (CVR) combined with light and sound therapy. 20 minutes worth is like having a 3 hour nap. You wake up feeling so refreshed and energized. You can even do sessions of all sorts such as weight loss, quit smoking, motivation, magnetizing money , pain management - everything you can think of. Check it out at www.newrealitytoday.com. Its very, very amazing
Doing work with your brain also uses up a lot of energy, it's a scientific fact. But then again, you can't even spell the word "CUBICLE". I guess we can't expect you to understand anyting more than the macho idea that only physical labour is exhausting.
oh yeah! well you can't spell "anything!" It's called a typo.

I've got a CD called "20 minute power nap" loaded into my laptop and iPod. Actually, it has a 17 minute "induction", then the narrator/hypnotherapist says "you'll sleep for 20 minutes", "you'll wake up refreshed" and so forth. Then there's 20 minutes of white noise, then the white noise abruptly stops and I wake up. If I take a late lunch --- healthy, homemade is best --- then lay down or even put my head down on my desk and listen to this CD, I'm "way under" in sleep and pop right back up after the 20 minutes. It almost feels like morning again! Somedays, I can do the CD, eat, and get a 10 minute walk done within a 1 hour lunch time. Colleagues and my supervisor admire this, but no one else does it.... they're "too busy" AND then fall asleep in meetings later in the day! The mind can be a hard thing to change! (Note: a former supervisor did try this and loved it... it made a lot of difference to him, both at work and home. He said he had more energy even when he got home at night AND also noticed that his running was easier, endurance-wise).
What I don't understand is the country's obsession with alarm clocks. Why not let your body rest until it naturally wakes up. When I get enough sleep, i'm not groggy the rest of the day. People are probably groggy after an hour or 2 nap because they actually need more sleep. American's have too much "sleep debt", but the fix to it is not forcing less sleep in your nap, because an expert says its right.
What a relief it would be to have 20 to 30 minutes of quiet to clear my mind...guilt free...in the middle of the work day! Does anyone really think America (corporate or otherwise) could handle even a short period of quiet rest...and call it a nap?

in some countrys lunch is 12-3,people go home and sleep a couple HOURS then return to work and work until 7pm!!
I still say there should be a mandatory 20 min cat-nap for everybody per day in the office. Equivalent of 10 min Smoke Breaks. Then watch how Performance Escalates.
This is the best article I've read in a long time! My friends and Co workers are constantly making fun of me for the need to take naps in the middle of the day. I have a blanket in the bottom drawer of my desk and pull it out to take a quick snooze as needed. Top three favorite snooze areas: under my desk, behind my desk (no one will find me there), and my bosses truck...lol YAY for naps!!!
TO THE SECRETARY /RECEPTIONIST, TAKE A SHORT NAP ON YOUR LUNCH BREAK. MAYBE SCHEDULE YOUR LUNCH BREAK LATER IN THE DAY SO YOUR NAP WILL BE CLOSER TO YOUR NEED TO REFRESH TIME. I HAVE ALWAYS CLOSED MY OFFICE DOOR AND TAKEN A 20-30 MINUTE NAP ON MY LUNCH HOUR AND I BELIEVE IT WAS TO THE COMPANY'S BENEFIT BECAUSE I ALWAYS WOKE UP WITH TWICE THE ENERGY AND THE NEXT FEW HOURS FLEW BY. I READ ONCE THAT IN CHINA, EMPLOYERS MAKE ROOMS WHERE THEIR EMPLOYEES GO TO NAP. THIS IS NOT DONE ON LUNCH TIME BUT EVERYONE IS GIVEN A 15 MIN. NAP BREAK IN THE AFTERNOON.
I love naps. I have always been a napper--it helps me get much needed rest. Plus, I can be upset befor a nap, and when I wake up, I feel refreshed and able to think more clearly about the problem because I am not as tired as I was.
I think the day of employers allowing naps is a long way off, but if Dick Cheney can fall asleep in a press conference about the CA fires, maybe Bush will implement an Official Nap program before he leaves the White House.
I had the good fortune to work for a company that actually provided 2 rooms complete with sofas and nap sized chairs for employees to get some sleep during breaks and lunches. It was really nice working for a company that realized taking care of employees was in their best interest. I frequented the "Quiet Break Rooms" on a regular basis. I was never so productive or happy on the job.
I love this article! I have been taking short naps for years and my friends laugh at me. I always feel refreshed when I take a 20-30 minute nap right before going to the club or to a movie. My friends call me crazy and wonder how I can get up after such a short siesta. Now I have proof it's a good idea!!!!!
I think that a nap is a good thing! I am lucky to work for a Company that has a massage chair in a quiet area. I have been using this chair for years during my lunch hour. It helps me to de stress and relax my shoulders. Only a couple of others here do the same. I honestly think that each employer should take a hard look at how to put in a place and area for employees to close thie eyes, even for 10 minutes, I think we would all be better off.
Besides, did'nt I read somewhere that the most accidents on the road happen between 4-6PM, hmmm???
I DID A CASE STUDY ON THIS WHILE IN COLLEGE, 1994. EVERYBODY THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY AND THAT MADE NO SENSE. GUESS I WAS AHEAD OF THE GAME AFTER ALL....?

It was an ok article, however... how does one get away from their desk (except at lunch which for me is in the noon hour) when they are the receptinonist/secretary/catch all for anything that needs to be done? I would LOVE a nap around 1:30 or 2:00 but with some jobs it just isn't possible.
I keep a "pillow" (something soft) in my car to use as my pillow and bring a throw blanket folded up in my car to use if i get chilled during our winter months. It does wonders for the nap. You will have a harder time trying to sleep if you are not comfortable. As for the alarm, most cell phones have that built in. Happy Z's.
