Comment: Just because one is raised in a "Christian" home does not mean that they cannot turn out to be insane and violent and commit terrible crimes. In fact, some of those wonderful homes are worse than living with Hannibal Lector. And more violence and death is committed in the name of the Lord than for any other reason. Some people are born without any soul and this guy certainly was.

Comment: Being raised in a Christian home does not assure that one will not turn out to be a monster like this man. More violence is committed in the name of the Lord than any other excuse. Like some, he was born without a soul. It does happen

Comment: Just because one is raised in a Christian, peaceful and loving home it is not guaranteed that he would not have still turned out so ill. More hate and violence is committed in the name of the Lord than anything else in the world. Some people are just born monsters and nothing is going to change that.

Comment: This story is terrible to hear. One of the worst thing i've ever read in my life. I don't know why this person whould ever do this to someone else. I think this started by his childhood, and the way he was treated back then. I'll bet this had been involved by the satan.

Comment: I think this is the worse thing I've ever heard in my life. I don't know how it happens, may be it's some hatred still lying beneath his childhood or the way he was treated by his parents at childhood. If he had been raised up in a christian, peaceful and loving family ,this will never happen to him. This kind of behaviour shows the real path of satan and his followers.

Comment: To Atlanticobserver... calm down. I just read through the comments and I didn't see anyone asking to set this man free. Noone is disagreeing that what he did was horrific, and no punishment could ever fully atone for the sickness he inflicted on this community. No words can ever diminish the pain and loss bestowed upon the families of those young women. And while I would and could NEVER condone his actions for any reason, one must be able to think about the poor little boy he once was and feel at the very least a twinge of sorrow for what he has become, not just for what he did. Our very humanity is embedded in our ability to empathize, lest we become animals and monsters ourselves. Does he deserve our punishment? YES. But as a mother, my heart breaks at the thought of being so cruel to an innocent child.

Comment: I seems to sense that most everyone here see the tree inside the forest. In this case, the ???cannibal??? is the tree, and the rest are members of the forest. This guy bore his marks of abuse that made him a monster is not the question here ??? but us. This guy is not the product of himself but of his outside influences ??? and that???s you and me. In each of our own communities today, right at this very moment, the tiniest monster creating molecules of hate, bigotry, prejudice, racism, intolerance, bias, narrow-mindedness, chauvinism, discriminations, spewed its venoms that some originate from us and some from others whom we tolerated. What makes a human kind whole is; love, care, tolerance . . . . .

What???s going to happen when you kick the dog too much? It bites.

What???s going to happen when you care and nurture the angry and sick dog . . . .?

Too much hate is going around and there is no wonder that our ozone layers are depleted overtime.

Do we, as individuals for our won right, contributed for the positive effect towards our fellow men, and women of course, or do we sustain the chorus for its net outcome of MONSTER CREATION.

    Any taker, somebody out there?mbl

Comment: I agree that a cra--y childhood is no excuse for his actions. However, what he went through contributed - probably a great deal - to the adult he became. No question, he's a monster. Monsters aren't born, they are made.

I don't feel sympathy for the guy that slaughtered 3 women. I feel sympathy for the little boy that he once was. I guess I can't help but to remember that at one point, we all came into the world pretty much the same - tiny, helpless, prone to all sorts of horrors. I refuse to believe that any of those kids in my son's kindergarten class was born a psychopath. Any of them might become one, but they aren't psychos yet.

Again, I don't feel pity for a guy that will hopefully be executed for what he's done. But remembering that he was once a little boy just makes me wonder what the hell happened to warp him so much.

Comment: I cannot believe my what I am hearing from people. Why do we continue to excuse the barbarous nature of those who have brutally, viciously, and knowingly commit these haneous crimes. Why do we continue to give them the excuse to say "well he had a hard life". Are you honestly that naive to think or propose to think that by them saying they are sorry for what they did and that they did it because people were mean to them, that this constitutes releasing them from a just punishment. It is not about revenge!!!! It is about restoring the balance of humanity. Yet we see murderers, rapists, torturers who have taken a life!!!! They will never get that life back!!!!! It is gone, snuffed out, denied existence in this mortal life forever. What about those who invested all of their love, affection, friendship, money, and time???? What recourse, what justice is due!!!! These are the true victims. What happens as we think that people of this barbaric nature can possibly be refined, helped???? They have commited a crime that cannot be paid back. It cannot, no matter how many rights are done by this person EVER repay what they have taken. It is a choice they made. No one forced them to kill. No one forced them to hack of the arms and legs of that womans daughter and eat them. This is sickness that cannot be helped. This is a choice that was made. How many ways does it take to help you understand that a person that has gone to these extremes cannot be reintegrated into society. While these people are one persons son, brother, uncle, grandfather, teacher, or any other beloved association...the fact of the matter is...they made a choice and a punishment must fit their crime. They all had the opportunity to get help. They all had the opportunity to choose not to murder, rape, or dismember. This is only an indication of the millions of victims that go undefended while the perpetrator gets away with murder!!!!!! Who will defend the real victim?????? Who will bring justice to the woman who is now 6 feet under. A mortal life no more. It is not about revenge. It is about justice. It is not about revenge. It is about the real rights of freedom. When you upset the balance....somewhere a price has to be paid. Why should the victims pay twice by letting these animals go free????? If murderers were put away for life....perhaps people would be more afraid of murdering. If not, they will have a life time to think about the others who no longer have a life-time. Defend the innocent....not the guilty.

Comment: I have no sympathy for this guy. he had none for these women or their children they left behind. He deserves everything they give him and more in my opinion. Its to bad he can't get the death penalty then the government wouldn't have to support him for the rest of his life. I'm sick to death of all these people defending him because of his dysfunctional childhood. Lots of people have had hard lives but they don't go around killing people and least of all eating them. He is really SICK!!

  • Posted By: Sweetwillywhiteshoes @ 10/30/2007 2:06:43 PM

Comment: This story is very sickening, I feel sorry for the mother who sensed somehting was not right from the beginnging but I wonder if she ever made it known to her daughter what she felt about her boyfriend. I don't know if they have a death penalty in Mexico but they should hang him as his punishment for killing those ladies.

  • Posted By: Turkey1 @ 10/30/2007 1:32:01 PM

Comment: Really crazy story. I also agree that we should not think about revenge for those who were killed. I feel bad for all parties involved. The cannibal must have already had a horrible life. I can somewhat understand how he felt, though I would have never taken it to the level of murder/cannibalism. When all you have is misery, its hard to focus on anything but pain, and that obviously had a very adverse affect on the people that did come into his life.

50 YEARS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That in itself is a crime!

Comment: Yes, this man is sick but are we any better? Wishing upon himor in fact bringing upon him, torture is not going to change what has happened or make him realize how wrong his actions were. The best we can do is keep him seperated from the rest of the world and hopefully learn some warning signs about whatever mental and personality disorders that afflict him.

  • Posted By: DesRose @ 10/30/2007 12:08:33 PM

Comment: Some of the comments here lead me to believe that as a supposed civilized people we have not progressed very far. Are we so simple minded that all we can think about is exacting revenge? Yes, this mans actions were horrible, viscious and sick. But we cannot do anything to bring these women back nor change what has happened. No amount of punishment or act of cruelty will change who and what he is. All we can do is keep him away from the outside world and hope we have learned something about the sick minds who do things like this.

Comment: I agree about possibly studying him. From what I've read about serial killers, I had a LOT in common with them myself as far as the types and extent of abuse. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't turn out just like them. Other than those stories, I have never heard a similar tale from someone else that turned out "normal", though lots of people had suffered physical, sexual, or emotional abuses at some point.
Obviously those experiences aren't excuses for behaviors, but they contribute a great deal. I never killed anyone, but I was rather violent in my early teens. I got therapy. That didn't keep me from spending 5 years stoned out of my gourd later, but I think it helped with the rage part.
Maybe I, and all those I might have hurt or killed, got lucky by having me finally come into contact with people who would at least pretend to care about what I had going on in my head.
I still wouldn't rule out execution, though. It would actually probably be a more humane treatment in his case than the other options available. And if I had to live with having done things like that, I would probably want to die.
I also noticed the eery resemblance between two of his alleged victims and his mother. His mother became a single parent of at least 3 children, and at least two of his victims were single mothers. The unidentified prostitute may also have been a single mother, or maybe she was just easily accessible.

Comment: This man is sick indeed, though there is blame to be placed on the abuse of his mother and the neglect of a community and school district that had to have seen the results of the abuse much earlier in his life. I do not condone his actions but realize that he was turned into this monster through circumstances. As for his siblings they should speak out to either confirm or deny the accusations against their mother. Cultural differences could also be to blame for the lack of action of family members not getting involved. I don't believe a young child is born with the desire to kill but have learned to kill through the need to survive what the feel is an only option to a devastating cituation

Comment: This story simply freaked me out. couldn't believe this sort of thing could be done so cold bloodedly! He's a sicko - no question about it. No punishment could make up for what he's done but at least for starters he should get solitary confinement for the rest of his life with a restricted diet of just his own limbs, cut into pieces and lightly fried!

  • Posted By: Junecleo @ 10/30/2007 10:51:32 AM

Comment: Horrid, and there's no excuse for his actions, but if what they say about the mother is true, she should be thrown in jail right along with him.

    Comment: SIMPLY PUT. LOCO!!

  • Posted By: abc354 @ 10/26/2007 12:42:20 AM

Comment: Made me actually nauseaus. Nothing short of being sent directly to hell - alive - to live in his worst nightmare day after day, after day, after day, after.... where he could be fried, yet not have the mercy of death. He should be sent to general population in prison to let the inmates deal with him in their own justice, as they did with Jeff whatshisname, another cannibal/murderer. Since he's so afraid to be alone, solitary confinement might be good for awhile, too.

  • Posted By: abc354 @ 10/26/2007 12:31:54 AM

Comment: Made me actually nauseaus. Since he hates to be alone, solitary confinement would be just fine until he's put to death. Although, allowing the adult population in prison attack him (which is what would happen, since he's such a freak, inmates would exact their own revenge, I would think) would be a good thing, too. I, too, don't think any public monies should be spent for his defense. I'm not sure there is anything that could be done to him that would even begin to affect him like he has affected the poor women and their families - not unless he were sent directly to hell to experience his worst nightmare day after day, after day, after day, after....

Comment: Crazy story...I would personally say life in an enclosed jail cell so he would have his life to think that hes never gonna see anything outside his jail cell, and he would eventially go insane(hes already there). But if I was a member of the family of the victims I'd wanna see him be "put down."

  • Posted By: Old school @ 10/25/2007 1:29:35 PM

Comment: Anything less than the death penalty is too lenient.

No money should be spent to keep him alive.

Comment: Any sentence less than death is unacceptable.
No money should be spent to keep him alive.
