THERE IS NOT ONE AMERICAN INTREST IN THE MIDDLE-EAST WHO CANNOT DEFEND THEMSELVES AGAINST A NUKE AS WE GAVE THEM NUKES TO!!! SO WHY ARE AMERICANS TO DIE FOR ANOTHER INTREST? ISN'T ANYONE CONCERNED ABOUT OUR OWN AT HOME ON USA SOIL INTREST-NO, CAUSE WE NOT DYING FOR WHAT IS IN OUR COUNTRY ,JUST WHAT OUR COUNTRY WANTS TO OWN ON THE BACKS OF THE POOR-AGAIN-JUST FOR THINKING ABOUT IT, IS A DELCLARATION OF WAR? ALL EYES ARE ON US FOR THAT ONE.

the leader of iran does speak alot of facism and most of islam is facist. the nation of islam made of pact with hitler during wwII because they shared the same values. i know he answers to the religious leader who actually runs the country and i think they are both scary. i think aminijad could be a very dangerous person and talks already about building nukes and wanting to wipe out israel. he also denies the holocaust. i think he is a very narrow minded, facist, uneducated, stubborn, and ignorant fool. i don't believe all the people in Iran are bad, i'm sure a lot of them disagree with him. in my heart i believe the entire nation of islam should be labeled as a hate group, because they preach hate, ignorance, censorship, control, poverty, violence, and death. we want to preserve the free world. Most Americans despise George W. and his greed for oil, but many also fear Islam and their anti-Christ and anti-semetic teachings. Iran has also been interfering in Iraq and they really don't have any business their. if their government is really involved in arming and aiding terrorist that strike at the US, then they have already declared war with the U.S. and Israel. He already said that he wants to wipe Israel off the map. what are we waiting for? are we going to wait until they actually do strike at someone with a nuke? or should be have preventive measures? AS FOR THOSE BASHING THE REPUBLICANS, HILARY CLINTON VOTED FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ TWICE. I AM NOT A BUSH OR CLINTON FAN AT ALL, NOT EVEN CLOSE, BUT AMINIJAD IS THE WORLD'S BIGGEST FACIST. BUSH MAY BE OIL HUNGRY, BUT AMINIJAD WANTS TO DESTROY AND IS THREATENING TO WIPE OUT THE EXISTENCE OF ANOTHER NATION AND BELIEVES IT'S BETTER THEN EVERYONE ELSE. THE ISLAMIC STATE WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THE WORLD IF IT'S FORMED. IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT WORLD DOMINATION, FEAR, HATE, AND FACISM,. JUST SIT BACK AND LET THEM FORM THIS GIGANTIC HATE/TERRORIST GROUP. You know the biggest sin in the Qu'ran, above murder, rape, incest, and etc... is believing in Jesus. they hate the jews as well. they also don't tolerate anyone that goes against the Qu'ran and believe they are better then everyone else. If Islam ruled the world, the Christians and Jews would be pretty much wiped out, except those that bow down to Islam and pay taxes to them (submit to their every whims), any other religion will be gone (dead), gays (dead),. women (very limited rights in the world), free speach (gone). We will live in a Nazi society full of fear. No your history and beware. Russia is not to be taken lightly either, since they are on Iran's side. the U;S. shot down over 20 spy planes over Alaska from Russia throughout the summer, while Putin and Aminijad are meeting in private. I do think Bush should confront Aminijad publicly. At the same time, Aminijad is a nut job and thinks that he is some sort of prophet.

Rather than starting another very unpopular war with Iran, We should just make it very clear to both Iran and Syria that any nuclear use by them would result in massive nuclear retaliation against both of their nations. This is how we handled Russia and it worked just fine. We did not do all the ignorant things that lead to war as the president and vice president are doing now. Iran and Syria are a danger to both us and Israel but, If we let them and all of the people of the middle east know what will happen if they do anything stupid like attacking one of our allies many of them will help put a stop to their lunatic behavior. The way it is being done now many of the people of the middle east are on the sides of Iran and Syria just because they are standing up against us. It is sad that it has come to this but unfortunately when you have war mongers on both sides of the world this is what sometimes happens. The majority of the people of the middle east love life and just want to be left alone just like the majority of Americans. Once they are told that any nuclear action on the part of Iran or Syria would result in total devistation of their part of the world many of them would stand up against those two nations and they can control this better than any petty threats of war will ever. This way none of our military will need to be put in harms way just two or three nuclear subs fully armed and maybe bring back ten or fifteen Ground launch cruise missille systems, (GLCM) and set them out in the Israely desert should do the trick.

Besides, if Bush chooses - again - not to gather acurate first hand intelligence on Iran's nuclear program before we go to war, then you know that this is NOT about nuclear bombs at all. Hence, the "proof could come in the form of a Mushroom Cloud" is just a fear tactic to get people's support.

Look, I know what Amidinijad said he WANTS to do horrible nasty things to Isreal, but it's all a matter of CAN he do horrible nasty things to Isreal? And if he's so close to accomplishing exactly that, then why isn't the whole western world in an uproar? None of Bush's arguments make sense - not when you look at this in a world context. But his deeds certainly point to something else...

It is a paradox that the United States and the Bush Administration will such a strong stance against Iran. In their minds, they may be calculating to go to war against the Iranian but the impact will be so devastating for all of us. I hope it is just the rhederic from both countries as they are shooting each other with stong words. Perhaps, we have to rely on the words of General Abizaid that if Iran supposedly gets a nuclear weopon =, it will not make much of a threat because according to him we will be able to live with it as we have lived in the past with other nuclear nation.

Also, take the situation in Iran that the present Ahmadinijad's administration is not popular either, if we happen to drum up the rhetoric wit war, he may be getting a boast from it's citizens and will help him to stay in power for ever so long. Instead of leaping towards the war footing, give it a chance with the diplomatic footing, see if the Iranians back of from enriching Uranium of which to help make nuclear weopen. Also, iif the Administration decide to attack Iran, you will see the Russian and Chinese reaction of it that will not only make them happy but will give them an opportunity to get back to be stronger militariely not withstanding the economic threat that we are going to inherit. So, the right and prudent thing will be to have the Europeans in conjunction with the Russian and chinese see if we can put pressure on the Regime in Iran. If it helps to curtail the threat of war we should not shy away from it.

Here we are in the middle of two wars right now and the hardliners want to start a third one! Given their track record on war strategy I am not too confident that we'll have a whole lot of success in Iran. Pardon me but are Republicans drunk all the time now?

Jaws, so you are saying you are guily of a crime before you commit it? What would Israel do if Iran attacked them? You know Israel has about 300 nukes right? Hey the Soviets said they would bury the U.S. when they had 40,000 nukes but did we have to attack them becasue of thier words? that was for thier domestic conumption just like Iran.

You make good points Jackson. The only part I disagree with you on is pointing the finger of blame for not finding WMD's at Bush. EVERY intelligence agency of the west believed and reported that Iraq had them. Bush went on the intelligence he had - no President has ESP and all of them act on the information given to them by others."


That's not true Kas. Joe Wilson went over to Nigier to investigate the claim that Iraq was buying yellow cake himself since the intelligence on the subject was so vague. He came back and said after much investigation that the intelligence claim the Bush Administration was using was completely false. And in retaliation Valerie Plame (a key nuclear counter-proliferations CIA agent) was outed thereby ruining her career and any use of her vast experience in stopping exactly what Bush said he wanted to stop - nuclear proliferation.

Otherwise there was no first hand intillgence gathering by America on Iraq. Our intilligence was 10 years old from the first gulf war. Meanwhile the UN weapons inspectors that were IN IRAQ and IN SADDAM'S FACILITIES, said there were no traces of anything like nukes being developed. They also were getting very good at tricking Saddam's soldiers and randomly appearing at facilities before things could be moved. Sure, Saddam might have wanted nukes, but wanting nukes and being able to get nukes are two entirely different things.

We could have gone with the weapons inspectors to find out the truth for ourselves if we really wanted to. There was ample opportunity and it wouldn't have even needed to be covert. But we chose not too, and when Joe Wilson went to get first hand information, his family was punished for it. And THAT should tell you a tremendous amount about how much the Bush Administration values the truth.

Before we enter into another war, it is NOT too much to ask that we have genuine, first hand proof that they actually have a nuclear bomb - or are close to it. And I want a truthful - unintimidated intelligence community consensus about this. Bush's word is simply not good enough.

I agree that the United States must focus more on domestic policy. It is worth going to war with Iran to prevent them from obtaining the bomb. You can't take Amadinejads words lightly when he says that he will wipe Isreal of the face of the earth. He's telling us ahead of time what he is going to do with the bomb once he gets. Just like Hitler told everybody what he was going to do once he was in power. People ingorned him and look what happened. You must be crazy to think that Iran wouldn't use the bomb if it suited them. People don't think that Iran wouldn't use the bomb in the name of Islam and than justify because it was for a religious cause. I'm not a big Bush fan, but he's doing the right thing by keeping the heat on Iran. He might have been wrong on Iraq but not on Iran.

Two more comments, and then I'm out.
1. To those who say we should have irrefutable proof that Iran has the bomb before we attack, I ask, is that sufficient? We have the bomb, as do Russia, G.B., France, China, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Israel. I think maybe the criteria that would justify an attack should be if they USE the bomb. The only time that has been done (by us) was during war, not before. Should we start a war, do we then grant Iran its own justification for that use?
2. To the veterans: I joined the Marines when I was 17. I did it voluntarily, and served my country. This is not about disrespect for the men and women who serve in any regard, but about my children, their nation, their future.

bruno12: it is true that much of our operations ithese days nvolve using airstrikes, however, i'm pretty sur we have a hundred thousand ground troops in Iraq right now. These soldiers shoot at insugents, who also shoot at them. What started as a "shock and awe" missile fest, has ended up a ground war. You cannot effectively take out a regime relying on airstrikes alone. So where do we get the amount of troops that would be required for such an invasion? That is the question I was posing. Keep in mind that Iran is a HUGE country (geographically), and they have a pretty decent military (in comparison with Iraq at the time of the invasion).
