Comment: In response to thoughtful: You cannot understand what I am saying unless you believe in Christ. And, as far as Christianity being akin to Islam, God forbid! My religigion is one of peace. Obviously, you have never read or studied just exactly what the goal of Islam is. Christianity is a religion that reaches out to the lost, including Moslems. Islam will force conversion by any means, including death. If you doubt me, check out what occurred to the Afganistan man who converted from Islam to Christianity."
Actually Realistic, I've studdied both Christianity and Islam. They are very similar in their essential message of peace and compassion.
"War in Islam as regulated by the Qur'an and hadith has been subject to many distortions by Western scholars and even by some Muslim writers. These are due either to misconceptions about terminology or - above all -using quotations taken out of context.2 Nowhere in the Quran is changing people's religion given as a cause for waging war. The Qur'an gives a clear instruction that there is no compulsion in religion (Quran 2:256). It states that people will remain different (Quran 11:118), they will always have different religions and ways and this is an unalterable fact (Quran 5:48) - God tells the Prophet that most people will not believe "even if you are eager that they should" (Quran 12:103)."

And for the Christians:
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. . . .
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." ~ Matthew 5: 38-39; 43-45.
They are also very similar in the ways that their followers can corrupt them. The Islamic Jihad of today is very similar to the Christian Crusades of the middle ages in that the rhetoric is the same, but the tactics were different. So yes, True Islam can be perverted just like true Christianity can. What's needed is to remind people of each religion that this is not what thier founders intended...
So with Matthew in mind, how do you justify bombing Iran? It doesn't sound to me like Jesus offered any exceptions...
Understanding one another is the key to truly bringing about peace.
