Mredshottie, I really disagree with the comment you stated, ???Age is like "mind over matter"...If you don't mind, it don't matter.??? I can almost garentee that it will matter if someone hooks ???up with a kid who claimed to be 21 and they were really 14, It will matter to Mom (I hope ) and Dad ( if he???s there) and to the local police department. Sorry. Age does MATTER.

I can't believe that people are on here actually blaming myspace for ruining their kids lives. I have a teenage son who has a myspace account, as I have one myself. Its actually fun sometimes just to browse around. Everyone has choices and parents can choose to either block or monitor their childrens sites. I use to have a report sent to my email address of everthing my son did on the internet everyday, and I could view blocked sites, view chat times, how many instant messages, etc. he did in a days time. So people quit blaming myspace for problems that you are having with your child. It sounds like there are more serious underlying things going on. Some people are prone to addictions, and yes you can be addicted to things like myspace, but its not myspace's fault. Try counseling and quit blaming a great place to hang out and talk to your friends.

My 18 year old daughter is so obsessed with myspace she didn't study for school she stopped talking to her family she never came out of room . she dropped out of college and ran away from home when i took internet out of her room . the myspace has ruined my life and ruined my daughters future .

I hate to tell you Kimberly S, but myspace didn't ruin your life or your daughter's life... Your daughter ALLOWED her life to be ruined... And really if it wasn't my space, it would have been friendster, or facebook, or any one (or more) of the thousands and thousands of networking sites out there. The problem is your daughter... not the internet.

Is it any different for Tom to lie about his age to promote his product than for marketers to misrepresent the truth about a "new and improved product " when all that has been done is the pakaging is changed? We see this all the time and it's just about money. My space is a place to interact with people... no different than a club or bar when it's all boiled down. You can choose to believe someone or you can choose to ignore the lie and just have a little fun out on the town... you're not commiting your life to this person. So, yeah, Tom lied about his age... so what! Women do it all the time.

Has anyone ever looked at the age some of these kids claim to be? You can never tell really how old some of these people are. Who cares how old someone is?.....Age is like "mind over matter"...If you don't mind, it don't matter.

  • Posted By: Skott @ 11/02/2007 9:08:22 AM

Honestly who really cares, this isn't news, don't you have better things to do than find out how old tom is. What a waste of time.

  • Posted By: SENSI_ational @ 11/02/2007 9:07:09 AM

Meh..... It's not like there aren't already thousands upon thousands of mini-thugs and cam whores who lie about their ages. At least he's accomplished something with his life.

  • Posted By: somethingsimple7_9 @ 11/02/2007 9:05:58 AM

You have to be kidding me. So what what his age is now. I understand why he lied but then what does it matter? It is ridiculous stuff like this that American's have their priorities screwed up.

  • Posted By: Now-u-know @ 11/02/2007 9:04:11 AM

Why should anyone be surprised? Myspace is nothing but a place where you can lie about you age, sex, and anything else you choose. Hello people! There are 15 thousand registered sex offenders on myspace; do you think they are telling the truth? I can't get over how some people let their kids on that site?

Get a life people. If this guy's age is all you have to worry about then maybe you need to re-evaluate things. My kids use MySpace and they would tell you the same thing. GET A LIFE!

To the first poster - "Linda001" who whined about how her teenage daughter has been ruining her life by becoming obsessed with the site, not studying, getting involved with boys, etc... My question is this: Why do you let her? There are ways to block sites from children. It's very simple and effective. You can also mandate that any and all computer time be done in your presence. I too have a teenage daughter, so I do know what I'm talking about...

Ah...hello???!!! Nooses hanging from trees in the 21st century, inflation, a corrupt government and demended society, global warming, war, fires, hurricanes....who gives a damn about how old Tom is...he is doing what all capitalists in this country do...make money! Grow up America...MySpace is a great networking tool. ...I should know, I have a MySpace page and I am over 30! Thanks Tom and Happy Birthday!!!

  • Posted By: kananiu @ 11/02/2007 9:02:11 AM

I cannot believe these idiots blaming myspace for the failures in raising their own children.

  • Posted By: SMCARLTON @ 11/02/2007 9:01:32 AM

Get a life people. If this guys age is all you have to worry about then you really need to re-evaluate your life. My college kids use MySpace and they are more mature than that. They would tell you the same thing. GET A LIFE!

  • Posted By: Buggs @ 11/02/2007 8:59:50 AM

I don't think it matters how old Tom is. Like previous comments made, wether or not he was 27 or 32 when he started the Myspace site he was just doing like most any of us would. He started something to make money. Not everyone is totally honest about their age. We've all lied about that and other things at some time or other. We do have more to worry about than this. Wildfires, high gas prices, the stock market going down etc.

  • Posted By: makilaf @ 11/02/2007 8:58:30 AM

amberina he said his age was 32 and his birthday will be next week making him 37 not 33. I guess you don't need to go to second grade to learn how to read newsweek.

  • Posted By: Linda001 @ 11/02/2007 8:56:40 AM

I'm sorry but myspace.com is a horrible site. Have a teenage daughter. They are so obssessed with this site it is ruining their lives. You spend years raising them and you have a site that they become totally obsessed with they don't study, they get involved with boys they wouldn't have ever met because of it. We should have a class action suit against this site.

  • Posted By: ce3277 @ 11/02/2007 8:56:12 AM

Who cares?...... I have a question, How old are the reporters that chase stories like this? You will never make it to CNN, if you cant get out of high school...

  • Posted By: bobbyk1999 @ 11/02/2007 8:55:29 AM

I mean does it really matter if he was 18, 27 or 40 when he started the site. Who really cares! He knew how to market his product to the youth of America and the world and he did. He didn't harm anyone by doing it. He didn't do it to try and meet some underage person. Leave it alone, I mean really people! Lets talk about something that matters to us like the support for our troops abroad and trying to get them home!
