Do you own or can you obtain a thermal imagery device? If so, go to the Petty Products Warehouse in Coshocton, OH. You won't just see them coming, you'll feel them just prior to their arrival.

If you don't believe me, prove me wrong...

angelo, if in the beginning there was the word, how did they manage to write it down on any kind of paper with any kind of tool and without any kind of language as there wouldnt have been any at that time, as it was the beginning. i guess they just had to club it into each other the good old macho way?

I am a college student who has taken several in-depth classes studying Biblical literature. Firstly, you're quoting from the book of John. In this book, "the Word" is a title/metaphor for God, particularly for Jesus Christ, second person of the Holy Trinity, who is so called because he came to preach God's words. "In the beginning there was the Word" means that in the beginning, there was God. Assuming (at least for argument's sake) the existence of a Creator God, this is a fairly obvious statement to make at any point in time.

Secondly, if you're referring to Genesis 1 and 2 as well, I would note that Genesis 1 is extremely poetic and structured. One does not necessarily take poetry as literal history; one rather appreciates the point and superior truth the poetry means to convey. The point of Genesis 1 is not that God created the world out of nothing (in fact, based on the literal text, one can actually argue that He didn't create water, but as I said, you're not supposed to take poetry literally). The point is that He created order out of chaos. Genesis 1, at the very least, is arguably not literal history. I do not say that holds for the rest of Genesis. Secondly, Genesis wasn't written "in the beginning." It would previously have been oral tradition.

True, science can't prove that spirits and ghosts don't exist, but rememeber this: Failing to prove that something doesn't exist doesn't prove that it exists.

If spirits and ghosts really existed I believe that everyone would know it. I mean, come on, there are nearly 7 billion people on this planet. Every single day 7 billion people live 7 billion separate lives and yet we hear very, very
little of paranormal activity. Usually when we do it's from someone on the shifty side of the fence. I think the only ones who believe in spirits want to believe it so badly that they wish it to be true.

And for those of you who talk to dead loved ones, you're dreaming. Dreams can be realistic and horrid, or realistic and wonderful. A human can reach orgasm in a dream which tells me that they can be very true to life.

Wow this disscussion jus sparked a reason for a holy battlefield in what i guess alot of people view. And yes i would agree the guy ranting on about christianity has no clue what to do with our faith let alone should be left alone with it. Christianity is about leading by example and not throwing stones. next to the beleivers that have posted most of what i read was a compleetly biased oppinion that has no holding. what they are saying may be true but they arnt throwing away the whole ghost idea all together. and yes u can see patterns out of almost nothing. i would love to see the raise of hand of people here who have gotten that e-mail that has u read words that are jumbled. you can read it perfectly because the first and last letters of the word are in the right order and your mind finds the pattern. I am a christian. I am a logical beleiver in science. I am a sceptic. and I am a beleiver in the paranormal as well. Please people post only if you have something worthwhile to contribute, not if you want to rant about how your religon is right or how these people are wrong because you say they are, because you saw something. thats what this article is. Thank god there are some intelligent people in this conversaion arguing both sides though.

When I got married my Mom had already passed away 7 years before, I couldn't even remember the sound of her voice. I few night's later I had a dream and it was like she was right beside me, I heard her sweet voice, felt her soft skin as she hugged me and told me that she would alway's love me and that I had got married and that she was so proud of me on the day I said I do. My new husband tried to wake me because I was talking to her in my sleep and I told him to leave me alone because I was talking to my Mom, It's now been 17 years since she died and not once have I had a dream so real. I believe she's in a better place without pain so I'm ok with her not being here, but I sure wish she'd visit me again even if it's only in my dreams.

Aoi78: A lack of education leads people to think that things CAN be proven. The scientific method is utilized to disprove a theses, until one cannot be disproved, at which time it is considered to be plausible. This does not mean it has been proven, rather, that there is a lack of available evidence ot disprove it. Therefore, nothing is "irrefutable", not even concepts that are now taken for granted such as, say, "the Law of Conservation of Energy". Reality is subjective, which means that there will always be room for "facts" and "superstition" - the viewpoint (shaped by personal experience and interrpeted through social interaction) of the individual actor weighs heavily in whether phenomena is viewed as "scintific" or "mystical."

So lay off the "educational" insults - it doesn't seem to suit you; no person "knows" more than another, and one person's reality is another's delusion. Isn't it enough to just say that?

Hi, I would like to set this straight. The scientific method is not just to disprove/ challenge a theses. It is also used to provide more evidence in support of a particular theses/ hypotheses/ assumptions. It depends on how you construct your hypotheses. A hypothesis is borne out of some available evidence; having been able to see some relationships from two seemingly disparate phenomena/ concepts/ ideas. The words prove/ disprove is seldom used in scientific discourse until you have accumulated strong evidence in support or contrary to the theses. Furthermore it is false to say that since you cannot disprove the original theses then they are considered plausible. (Can we just have a thesis at a time?) Until there is a direct experimental evidence to support the theses, only then can you say they are plausible (and as far as the available evidence would allow you to). This is the main reason why science always present a scientific fact in the context of the available evidence. Beyond that, it is mere speculation/ conjectures. I would like to add that the Law of Conservation of Energy stands as it is not because there are no evidence that can disprove it but because of hundreds and thousands of evidence that support it. As I typed these words I have converted the chemical energy in my muscles to mechanical, sound and heat energy. To say this is one thing, but to measure everything if they add up correctly is another. If the values are off a bit, it is what you call uncertainty, the limitation to the available technique. Thank you.

UUUMMMmmm........I'm not really meaning to argue, but I read the article twice and didn't feel there were "educational insults" in it. As a matter of fact, I felt it was pretty informative, although I do agree with you that one person's reality can be another person's delusion.

Comment: I believe in ghosts 100%....I've had experiences, I've had relatives with experiences...its real. I believe we are all still trying to figure out WHO WE ARE. We only use 10-15% of our brains...imagine the possibilities. I believe that civilization is getting more and more sensitive, and what our true point in life is to find our inner selves, and love. Children nowadays are popping up more and more with phenomenal abilities such as talking through our minds, or telekenises. I think we are all from other planets, and we've come to earth to preach about the true inner self and love we all have...but I believe we've lost it along the way. Soon enough we will remember who we are, and from what far away galaxy we came from...evolution will prove us to be amazing creatures with unimaginable abilities.

Comment: Um.. this article, pertaining to random fixated studies in bad brain activity is a waste of precious time. Psychology nor Physics can explain the mysterious anomaly of the world. And this article is a joke! None of these so called experts have ever experienced anything I have or any other countless americans felt concerning ghosts. There is no such thing as fixing a patten in your head or hearing sounds we want to make out as a voice when we (The real People, and not a by-product of science) no exactly what the hell we are seeing and hearing. Science is cynically entertained by its will to become self-appointed Gods, and limit any other lay person that may lay claim to anything that is not explainable in their eyes. We are living in a reverse Galileo!! Where science, instead of the Church is fooling the masses. Get a life!! There are things that exist that not even your measuring rods can measure; tin heads!!

My Father passed away with out my ever getting to really know him. He left My mother and I when I was a couple of months old. And he had re- married. I did try a few times to contact him and his Wife stood in the way. The way I found out my father had died was in the news paper. His wife did not even list me as a serviving daughter, no mention of my existance. I had such hopes that someday I would get to know my dad. As long as he was alive I believed that I would be given that chance, but when he died that chance was gone. I was devistated. I was sick over it until I had this so real dream. I walked outside a train station and sitting on a bench was my dad. He said hi honey, come sit I have something I have to say to you. I was over whelmed by the way he called me honey and he smelled so good. He was wearing old spice cologne. He told me that alot of mistakes had been made and he just had to tell me that he did love me. He was to blinded by things and never realized what the important things in life were. And he couldn't leave without telling me, he really does love me and he was so sorry how things turned out. Then he gave me the warmest hug I have ever had and I woke up. The room when I woke smelled so strong of old spice. Even several minutes after I left the room and went back and it still smelled. I know my Fathers came to see me. Some how he knew I needed that! I told my mom about the experiance. But I first started out by asking her if My Father ever wore cologne. She said that he always wore old spice. Why? She said. She freeked when I told her.

To discover mind we need something superior than mind which I believe, is not acheiveable. Because, one cannot make something better than himself. However, we can seek guidance from something that is already there and superior than mind i.e. religious literature. And that also confirms supernatural things. But If we talk about science, this discussion may never end.

Personally, I know when I got married and my Mother had already died a few nights later I had a dream so real I heard her voice, felt her soft skin once again it was like she was right there, she had been dead 8 years and not once did I have a dream like that. She told me she loved me and was proud of me and that she knew I got married.and was with me that day. My husband said I was talking in my sleep and tried to wake me and I told him to leave me alone because I was talking to my Mom. I know she is in a better place without pain so that was so awesome to know she is still with me in one form or other. Just wish she'd visit more often even if it's just in my dreams.

  • Posted By: Orenda @ 11/01/2007 12:15:14 AM

ANYWAY.....This is a discussion on whether science can prove the MIND creates what it wants/expects to see or whether what the mind sees actually IS. I've done everything from Pentecostal to Atheist to "Liberal Spiritualist" and still dabbling. I tend to agree with frodogenic's comment. not just because it's a logical observation but also because I myself have come across the unexplained several times in my life and probably will several more times until I am PART of the unexplained. Let's play nice and remember this isn't a forum to argue about religion. Wars have been started that way. Thank you.

hmmm well how bout the people who can see and talk to ghost, or remember past lives? there is a whole lot of things tat i can keep goin on about...there are many people who can do this but won't tell everyone cuz they'll think tat they r wack or somtin. like my lil brother, when he was only just being able to talk he was talking about my mom's childhood like it was him talking to her. for example, my lil bro woke up and started talkin 2 my ma with a different accent and then asked her if she remembered when he would buy her ice cream cones (he was only like 5 or 6!). my ma couldn't think of what he was talking about until later that day. then she remembered about an old man who worked wit my granma and was always visiting her. my mom told me about this later that week, i believed it because ive had my own little 'supernatural' encounters. there are many 'supernatural' things that happen when u believe in them and accept them. people have a certain 'aura' about them depending on their psychic ability. i don't really know how it goes but many medicine men that have seen my family have said that we r very strong. my grandma's aura was a purplish color and my brother's is gold. i don't remember loads of what the elders say but i do remember that much. there is lots of stuff that i can talk about but don't feel like writing that much sooo...ya

This article is backed up by a good effort to unfold the mystery about super natural but it is not neccessarily the truth. Basically, to discover mind completely we need something that more superior than mind and to us that something is not acheiveable. So, this discussion may never end. There are people who see supernatural things but most of us do not believe. Most people follow the rule - Seeing is believing. So, it is a longway to go in t his regard.
