Al Gore is an idiot and if you believe him why are you still driving, smoking, cooking outside etc. Before you open your mouth and show your ignorance ask Al Gore why he still does.

vinciespop, thank you very much. It's about time someone notices what we're talking about.

  • Posted By: boticelli @ 11/01/2007 6:41:18 PM

Why do people keep hating on Al Gore? He won the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE. He is making a difference by alerting people to what's happening to our planet. I don't understand how you all are actually arguing that we should keep dumping our nonbiodegradable trash in the oceans and keep destroying the rainforest. Think about it: what is the main bypoduct of photosynthesis? OXYGEN. What do we need to breathe in to live? OXYGEN. We NEED trees.

Saying that global warming is not a problem is like saying that pollution is not a problem. Yes, there has been natural heating and cooling of the earth throughout time. But during the last period of heating, there was no civilization, humans weren't cutting down massive amounts of forest, creating huge landfills, driving cars and releasing tons of carbon into the atmosphere every day, or throwing the entirity of Earth's ecosystem out of whack by causing hundreds of species to go extinct. Just because global warming may not have a huge effect while you're still alive, you have no right to dismiss solid evidence and continue your selfish and irresponsible practice of hurting the planet. You are a dumb fool for being so ignorant.

ohhh another planet freak.. who gives a *** man.. youre gonna die no matter what. who gives a *** about cutting down trees and pollution and so forth. what, you're gonna live in a cave, in the rainforest, not using electricity or driving a car. drinking water from the river, eating wild animals.. so you can save the planet. you buy toys man. cars and trucks and boats and whatever else you can in your lifetime. enjoy life while you can.

boticelli, would you give it a rest, already!!! All this talk about GW and I'd bet you aint doing a darn thing about it, are you? Though I think this is all overhyped, I, for one am. I've always believed in shutting my mouth and openning my hands. Maybe you aught to try it sometime. Beside, this is about the great work of some great scientists.

The best way to preserve it is to pave over it ,then someday hundreds of years from now someone else can dicover it and deal with the financial aspect of it. The article clrearly states that there is no fundage for it right now.In the future when radical Islamic fundamentalists rule the world I am sure they would make a major find like this one of their top priorities!!!

  • Posted By: boticelli @ 11/01/2007 6:36:41 PM

And what does global warming even have to do with this story? I only made that comment before because someone else brought it up. I'm just saying that people should do some research about it before they post self righteous crap about the climate crisis not existing. Look at the annual hurricane records from the past hundred years and then tell me that nothing is going on.

  • Posted By: dtrain81 @ 11/01/2007 6:36:12 PM

Amazing find! I hope everything can be preserved. Also, global warming does exist according to Earth's cycles, but people are so dumb to give credit to Al Gore, because humans are not the only contributors to every global warming thing.

  • Posted By: suckit @ 11/01/2007 6:33:09 PM

you people have nothing to do huh. just write some crap on here.. you think youre going to change anything. al gore, global warming. big friggin deal. why do you waste your time reading and writing to this crap

  • Posted By: volfan @ 11/01/2007 5:55:25 PM

Just what do these comments re: global warming have to do with this article?

    • Posted By: suckit @ 11/01/2007 6:29:44 PM

you're kinda dumb arent ya. where the hell does it say this has anything to do with global warming. you probably got redirected from some site and ohh wow.. haha sucker

  • Posted By: positivo @ 11/01/2007 6:28:46 PM

Archeology has nothing to do with Al Gore, tsunami and/or natural disaster have always happened with or without melting poles. Though, Al Gore is right.

  • Posted By: suckit @ 11/01/2007 6:26:12 PM

just some old crap, thats all. who cares.

I don't know how a question/comment about global warming ended up on a site about archeological digs in Pisa, but you asked, so here I go. It is impossible to talk about gw without bringing in politics because it is a totally political fabrication with as much validation as the trickle down theory. First, a history lesson. As maggie Thatcher was taking office in the late 70's (don't hold me to the datyes, but the rest is factual) Britain was in the midst of a coal miner and oil worker strike. In an attempt to discredit the unions involved and break the strike, she formed a group to find ways to discredit the coal and oil industry. Well, what they came up with was anthropogenic (ie man-made) gw. Well, the strike ended without the whole gw thing taking off and was forgotten about (because in didn't exist) until the "Iron Curtain" came down in the early 90's. When the curtain came down and the Soviet Union pretty much dissolved, communism didn't go away. It found itself an accepting friend in the environmental movement. This is where large corporations (ie those that can only exist in a free market economy like in the United States) are over fishing, over building and overpolluting everything and the only answer is big government regulation of these businesses to keep them from doing all these things. Hopefully, in the end the business will be regulated out of existance or the government will virtually control every aspect of the business, in the process, making it weaker and less able to turn a profit. Well, enter gw. Essp. man-made gw. Now, the governments of the world, essp. those of modern industrialized nations, may some day be required to regulate just about everything that can be linked to gw. And what might that be? Well, the most popular view is that an increase in atmospheric CO2 causes an increase in the green house effect, which in turn causes an increase in temperature. Well, what creates CO2? Just about every living thing. Taking this train of thought to its end point, then the government will have to tax your breathing in order to get you to do it less. A couple of other quick points. Consensus does not make science. A few years back, it was the consensus of leading scientists that the Earth was flat and the Sun orbited the Earth. When a Lemming sees another thousand Lemmings running somewhere, it has a tendancy to join the "consensus" as well. The night before Al Gore recently received his Nobel Peace Prize, an English court came to the consensus that prior to showing his unfortunate movie in a classroom, they must state that some of its contents are factually inaccurate, like 10 of his 11 major points.

Global Warming has nothing to do with the article. Some people have just gotten up on a soap-box. Pisa will definitely have more tourists now!! Wow!
