This is very exiting stuff. Anything we can use to learn a little more about our past. Still, I have to wonder how I'd feel about it if it were my ancestors burried down there. Does our need for information really outweigh the need to respect the dead?

Those who believe in global warming being a crisis are most likely the same dumb fools who believed the world was going to end on 1/1/2000. Well.....DID IT??!!! Do your part and walk to work everyday while Gore flys his private jet all over the country and riding around in SUV's. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!!
Oh, by the way, this archeological find is incredible!!

When I was younger, I didn't realize how fascinating history was...I liked history but when these kind of finds are written about, I just want more...This is a very exciting story and would love to be able to actually go see for myself....Kudos to those that are putting the effort and hard work in preserving these ships and artifacts...Hope to be able to read more about it!

How wonderful this discovery! I wish I could see this site and learn more about the history of these ships. Perhaps National Geographic will cover the story. I hope Italy will do what it takes to preserve this man and his poor dog! There is so much factual information supporting the fallacy of Global Warming. Note the definition of fallacy is: "an often plausible argument using false or illogical reasoning.", but of course this is the basis of liberism whatever the subject. I think we should all respect our plant/enviornment and not abuse it. The universe will cycle at God's command not ours. P.S. What does all this Global Warming have to do with this find anyway?

Did you ever take any geology classes at all in all your years of schooling? Of course there has been global warming and cooling all thru the history of this earth. Gore is a bozo

This find could add important and relevant FACT to the issue of sea level and naturally occuring global worming we are experiencing. Why? Because these bots were obviously in the water when they sank 2,500 years ago, so the sea level undera much warmer period can be calculated, not just guessed at (VP Gore says 200' rise, were these boats 200' above current sea level?) Simple math - simple convenient truth -
Nice historical discovery - but pictures are always interesting to place the entire site etc in context.

before gobal warming there was global cooling and before that there was global warming and before that there was global cooling sooo, I say global cooling/warming is caused by global warming/ cooling and one more thing the sun is hotter now than is was fifty years ago so put a big sun shade over the earth for lets say two hours a day and that should fix the problem for now. Also (fact) in the 1200 it was warmer then then it is to day I wonder how they fixed the problem I remember! They killed all the dragons damm hunters.

i didn't mean to set off a firestorm. i was just confused. they found ships under a train station? and we're worried about the sea levels rising a little now? well anyway, i think the find is very cool too, especially that it is so well preserved.

This is very interesting and I feel it is a great break through. It is always interesting to know and understand exactly what happened in that era. Kudos for all the archeologists and there good work and not to mention there help, because it's a wonderful team like this one to uncover such findings. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey people the story is about shipwrecks, you can all love up on Al Gore somewhere else

volfan: Agree completely.....How the h does an article regarding an archeological find inspire a political debate/argument about global warming? I suppose that Boston's winning the World Series is the result of global warming, too.....

  • Posted By: AcesHigh @ 11/01/2007 5:58:27 PM

Very interesting artical. I would go to see those in a museum if the opportunity presented its self. Some more pictures in the article would be nice. The Italians sould soliciate the people wasting money on global warming reserch to finish there dig efforts. That would be money well spent.

volfan: I was wondering about that one myself. What does global warming have to do with the incredible find at Pisa.

  • Posted By: TucsonSunrose @ 11/01/2007 5:56:44 PM

Global warming may be a real issue; however, I am more interested in all of the "recent" archaeological finds! There is an inordinant amount of knowledge to be gleaned both historically and geographically, let alone studying the socio-economic behaviors of our ancestors.

What, the is no such thing as a caveman???????? Or Ice Age?????????///

  • Posted By: Deldevil @ 11/01/2007 5:55:06 PM

I thinks it is fantastic that these ancient ships have been found and the Italians are trying to save some for posterity. It gives us modern citizens a small glimps of what life was like1700 to 2600 years ago. So little is actually known about the people of those time periods. Hope the Italians can save as many as possible for their own history.

  • Posted By: Newsweek Reader! @ 11/01/2007 5:54:39 PM

The ice age never happend either?????? No such thing as a cave man???????

  • Posted By: Tig4667 @ 11/01/2007 5:54:39 PM

This is incredibly interesting. What a phenomenal find! The wealth of information that can be obtained from these ships, artifacts and the human remains is priceless.
