Comment: I happen to like mrs. clinton and I will vote for her. If she doesnt get in I will write her name in rather than vote for Obama. You obama are probably as unamerican as his pastor is. Are you going to tell me that for twenty years of belonging to that church that some of the pastors anti-american speaches did not sink in . It did with his wife , wasn't it obvious when she made her anti american remark ? I was an obama supporter until the truth about him and his wife came out.

Comment: The only people supporting Hillary is her campaign workers. When will she learn she cannot fool the public. She hired people to run behind her shoulders, as she marched in New York during a parade. They were yelling her name behind her to drowned out the booing. Most people hate her and a few are still confused. All over the internet her supporters are people she makes support her. America does not need her self-centered experience, and the only change she brings is gender. Why would I pay higher taxes to be made a fool of, huh?

Comment: Clinton is by far the best. She will win this. Forget the Clinton/Obama combo. It won't work. He doesn't have the experience. God forbid something happened to Clinton and then we would be in charge of our country. We need a strong combo - that would be Clinton/Biden 2008!

Comment: Voting for a candidate because they are the electable candidate is ridiculous! Vote based on experience and who YOU consider to be the best qualified. I???ve seen what the Republicans are capable of and it isn???t much. Perhaps the reason we have no diplomacy between our administration and foreign nations is because Bush can???t hold his own amongst these figures without coming away looking like a baboon. He truly is a puppet for the Cheney regime. If you disagree, try reading Conservative without Conscience by John W. Dean, Takeover by Charlie Savage and War on the Middle Class by Lou Dobbs. These authors are just some amongst many you have helped to shed light on the motives and tactics of the Conservative Right and how their thinking is pervasive. The result, they come across as amoral and hypocritical. If you can???t see that, then you are truly blind and closed minded. All these outlandish and false statements are based in fear. Simple psychology really. Barack is inexperienced and Naive, Edwards inexperienced and too much of a pretty boy, Biden is reactionary and divisive, Dodd is eloquent and effective, Clinton is eloquent, experienced and the best candidate for the job. Our Nation would do well under her tutelage and regain our pride and respect. Hillary Clinton for President!

Comment: We need an extreme change in Washington...we need HIllary and her experience and expertise. We need health care reform, import and export reexamination, alternative incentive to oil, we need to help the middle class which is declining. We need someone in office to stand up for the American people not insult them and tear them down by allowing business to rip them off. I want my government to watch my back for a change...I want a government for the people (not big business) by the people. I want decent helath care, guards against lending frauds, out-sourcing, off-shoring..let keep jobs in this country. We need someone to clear up the southern border mess. A woman certainly couldn't do any worse than what has been done....Look at the trillion dollar debt that has us beholden to COMMUNIST China..We need this mess cleared up....How can we buy imported items from China when our jobs are going away...who here in this country will have money to make their balloon house payments?

Comment: I really do not know what Democrats the pollsters telephone to continually place Senator Clinton 20 points ahead of the rest of the field. I have spoken with very few Democratic friends who prefer her as the nominee; that's putting it kindly. At the grassroots level, we'd all like to see an honest to goodness progressive Democrat who will lead this country forward into the new day we so desperately need to face. Senator Clinton's history and continuing rhetoric show her to be considerably more conservative than Democratic voters and increasingly more conservative than the independent eletorate. With all the moral and political failures we've witnessed this decade, Americans are hungry for someone to stand up and speak truth; we have been utterly flummoxed by the inexplicable collapse of the new Democratic "led" Congress in the face of an increasingly fascistic executive. Too bad Senator Clinton cannot decide where she truly stands on anything for fear of alienating potential "swing" voters; that approach really does alienate people all the more. In 2008, I will vote for any Democrat vs. any of the little Mussolini's the GOP is fielding, but that does not mean I have to be happy about the Big Media and party insiders from the DLC prematurely circumscribing my options. Americans deserve an honest choice, and I fully expect us to unveil some surpises when caucuses and primaries start in earnest.

Comment: This is absolutely ridiculous. Now day after day, after witnessing the true Hillary, we have to see articles about how she was undamaged, how her poll numbers were not effected. How in the world can someone like this be president when this kind of stuff just shows her weakness, wimp. The face that she, her campaign must put out these articles about how she is the 'still winner', just shows she is doing nothing but crying like a little spoiled brat who's golden spoon was taken away, as she stomps and kicks on the floor screaming until it is given back to her. She is not a leader! She needs to stop all this crap, she needs to step aside and stand behind Obama, a true leader, true strength, the only candidate who can bridge divides not only between the American people but throughout the world. Please, stop these articles about how this damaged female 'survived'. No she didn't survive that debate or any others for that matter because if she did she would not be putting out these minute by minute articles and poll numbers from the caves.

  • Posted By: RuthieM @ 11/04/2007 10:57:46 AM

Comment: This is unbelievable. The Clinton people just can't deal with hits against their poor wittle gurl....This should not even be allowed, for her to post article after article that she was not 'damaged'. Have their been article after article that Obama has not been damaged from his 2nd place? Hell no!! I am so sick of this Clinton garbage. How in the world can someone like this be president when she keeps acting like a soft, weak wimp by trying to assure the people day after day after day that she is a 'winner', that she was not 'damaged', that her poll numbers were not hurt? No, she does not come off strong by trying to justify her own shortcomings, bashing other people when she is questioned, and then having her people put out these kinds of articles. She just needs to go away and what she really needs to do is stand behind Obama, the true leader, the true strength, the true American for all the people!!

Comment: People forget that Hillary is a US Senator and was reelected for a second term in a major US state. Wherease Edwards is a has been, and Obama is a comer who remains to be proved. What he might have done in the Illinois legislature doesn't really count in this nomination campaign. So, why wouldn't Hillary come out on top of the canddates for the democratic nomination. Let's face it, the democratic nominees are head and shoulders above the republican candidates who seem to have a cumulative IQ of close to 800.

  • Posted By: Pacrat @ 11/04/2007 10:50:39 AM

Comment: People seem to forget that Hillary is a Senaror, served one term and was reelected in a major US state. What damage could a former unaccomplished former VP candidate and senator, and an untried senator really inflict. Edwards is a has been, and Obama is a comer - but really untried. Love his rhetoric though and would appreciate a solid plan to accompany it. He seems to be the only serious competition for Hillary.

As for the republican candidates - putting them all together doesn't equal either a Hillary or an Obama. What a bunch of losers.

Comment: Maddie, I for one am terrified of citizens like you...easily influenced by the scare tactics of the left. I would recommend that you formulate your own opinions based on real information versus the spoon-fed garbage that the liberal media has obviously been piping into your head. Of course, if you are unable to make your own decisions (healthcare, economics...the list goes on) than keep pushing for the wimpification of our nation. Go ahead...vote for those that slowly and methodically take your rights away. I would also hope that anyone that reads your note would see how foolishly you contradict yourself...a common trap someone like yourself falls into - trying to justify an uniformed decision using unsubstantiated, empty reasoning. I certainly hope that you don't limit your choices to a woman or an African American. You may find that these choices would mean that you're voting for incompetence.

Comment: The other day I was driving down the road when I got rear-ended by an unlicensed, uninsured, illegal "squatter" in our country. The person claimed they were injured so I also (since they didn't have money to pay for the healthcare) had to pay for his hospital visit. I think I'd rather pay $10 more to get my lawn cut by a legalized, insured citizen than have to keep paying to support these freeloading parasites.

Comment: Are you kidding me...Hillary is done. Nobody I know even watched the debates let alone realizes how stupid Hillary looks right now - even the liberal media is beginning the process of finding a new candidate to promote. They realize that Hillary sucks - she can't lie nearly as well as Bill. He was their ideal candidate - he can double-speak, lie and get a hummer all at once and everyone still thinks he's a genious. Hillary on the other hand looses her cool at the drop of a hat. I think she needs a good hummer herself.

How many re-counts and boxes of ballots will suddenly appear in the losers name? Anyone who was in or near Florida while they were carrying ballot boxes to be added to the count, just to get enough to be more than Bush, knows what I'm talking about. There were men willing to do serious bodily injury to honest poll workers and voters.

Comment: Hillary reminds me of the Helen Reddy song "I Am Woman". Here are some of the lyrics.

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

You go girl. Hillary is a steamroller. She's the best. This song was written for you Hillary.
Another verse in the song says " I am invincible". Oh how true. Sock it to them Hillary.

My wife has concluded that she will ultimately vote for whatever the democrates put out there, but I just can't do that. It seems that everyone but the voters have a say in who gets the ticket. Comment: The two terms of Bush's presidency has been dedicated to deceit of the American people and squandering the surplus built by the Clinton administration. During the current administration we entered into a war that all the reasons proved inaccurate. Even today our sons and daughters are being killed and injured. If we could define a "win", what would it be? Oil prices have soared, and cost of living for many people have declined. Are you better now than your were at the beginning of this term? I'm not, and just maybe a woman in the White House is what we need.

Newsweek knows that Hillary did not do good and therefore is out there trying to tell the public that even though she did bad America still loves her. The media will do what ever it takes to get that loser in to office aand this is anther example. Any chance they get they will do a poll or an article to tell the world owmuch America loves Hillary. Wake up America. This Woman will say anything, and do anything to get into the Office

Comment: I never usually respond to these, but I feel I must correct 'Maddie' in her tirade. At the very end of her own special 'rhetoric', she states that 'we ned to wake up and start taking care of our own', yet she goes on to state we should then vote either for a worman or an African American. There is nothing that annoys me more than someone who feels they are intelligent spout such ignorance. Do you feel your vote should be based on someone's gender or ethnicity? That is what you call intelligent? What about their positions on key points this country faces? You would vote for Hillary because she is a female and ignore the fact she is a complete and utter Socialist? And as a Socialist, Maddie.....she does not want you to 'take care of your own'..she wants you completely and utterly dependent on the government so that she controls all. She is a power hungry female who wants nothing more than to tell you exactly how you run your life. That is not the American way to me. And as for the African American....show me one with some wisdom and experience and I'm on board.......however that is not Obama. Should Colin Powell have run, I would have been ecstatic. A true, intelligent voting American does not vote based on age, gender or race, but on the qualifications of the individual seeking office. That is how you 'take care of your own', by researching the candidates and voting for the best person you feel can do the job. As for President Bush...I simply wish everyone would stop jumping on the 'Bash Bush Bandwagon'. We voted him in office twice, therefore obviously the majority of this country believed in him at some point. Do we not stand up for our decisions anymore...whether they be right or wrong? Do we not show respect for our President as true, loyal Americans should. No, this society simply follows wherever the latest 'trend' takes them. No thinking for yourself.....just follow the yellow, bouncing Hollywood types. Like they have some level of knowledge we don't because they look good on television.......please......vote with your head......not what is popular.

Comment: ABC, Anybody But Clinton. What an opportunist. Has she ever believed in anything? It is said that people deserve the leaders they get, a sad commentary on the electorate if she is considered the best the democrats have to offer. If elected, perhaps emigration to Canada is an acceptable alternative. The first Clinton was bad enough, now we can get another one. Hopefully the electorate is lucid enough to exercise and exorcise some judgement.

Comment: So let me understand the polling process. The pollsters randomly call about 1000 Democrats on land lines, not cell phones, and then ask them who from a list of candidates they will support.
Is there any surprise that most Democrats, who haven???t been following the campaign up until now, are going to go with the name they know ??? Clinton? Sadly, there are many people in this country who are not that well informed.
This changes as we approach an election year, as people get to know the candidates. That is why Clinton and Obama are neck and neck in Iowa. The importance of the debate will not manifest itself in a few days. That???s way too shallow. In fact, the debate will be remembered as a defining moment. This will become obvious as the aftershocks multiply. Just last night, it had its effect on Saturday Night Live. Go to the New York Times Caucus Blog page and watch it. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/
If I were Clinton, I would be worried. Those who truly know Obama really, really like him.

Comment: Americans are tired of being the laughing stock of the world. It is high-time we elect someone to the Presidency other than a white man; obviously they are not gettng it done for this country. Bush should be brought up on war crime charges. If someone invaded our country for our natural resources and killed tens of thousands of our people we want want their neck in a noose. His rampant disregard for our country and his rule by cronyism is evident by his no-bid contracts to Haliburton and the lack of oversight on mercenaries groups like Blackwater. Our own military are being brought up on murder charges for making bad decisions while under immense stress in Iraq, but Blackwater can kill Iraqi civilians without any provocation and Bush grants them immunity. What the hell is that about!!!! America doesnt need a dictator like Bush we need a leader, one who inspires us to goodness and promotes peace throughout the world, not war. All one has to do is look at any Republican gathering and see that it is a party of, for, and by white men, period. Anyone one else who thinks otherwise is just being fooled by their empty rhetoric. I for one look forward to the day when we can get rid of this uneducated, unsophisticated President, and replace him with someone who cares more about this country than lining their own pockets. If Bill Clinton can be brought up on impeachment charges for getting a blow-job in the White House, yet we let President Bush get away with murdering tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis, use our military to help his corporate friends get rich, torture people in secret prison camps, spend America into bankruptcy, and fail to provide funds to keep our countries infrastructure from crumbling, then we as Americans have failed ourselves and our country. We need to wake up and start taking care of our own or we will continue to see our country decline as a leader of the world, and our standard of living continue to spiral downward. I encourage everyone to vote either for a woman or an African American in 2008, the good old white boys just aren't getting it done!!!!

I am all for a woman president, just not that woman. Hillary will end up circling the republican wagons and costing us the election. We have some great choices in all of the democrates running, we need to give all of them equal time to present their potential for our country as the next leader. Don't let Iowa or the press make the choice, we need too - all of us.

It is ridiculous to accuse Mrs Clinton for "calculating" - Mr Obama is doing the same thing.
As for "electibility" - Being a white man from the south didn't help him as Vp- candidate back in 2004 - not even in his home-state!

Her decisions with regard to Iraq and Iran should give any critical thinking person pauce to think about is she really the best the best the country can come up with for president. 28 years BCBC. I think the country deserves better and real change. Not more of the same divisivenss we have had for the last 12 years. 50% of the electorate are ready to vote against her. Comment: Personally, I find these poll numbers hard to believe since all Democrats with whom I speak, (here in NYS) even those who support her, feel that she took quite a beating in the debate. The final blow was certainly the doublespeak answer concerning the issue of driver's licenses for illegals but she was no more sustantial in trying to define herself on her Iran policy. She was downright duplicitous when talking about the archived documents and was obviously pandering to the right with her hands off approach to Social Securinty ( we all know that a 'bipartisan committe' is code for doing nothing). All in all she was not only ineffective in presenting her positions but she confirmed many people's prior opinion that both she and her husband will always pick expediency over principle when expressing their intent. The Democrats would do well to think carefully before supporting Hillary as their nominee because even if she wins (which is questionable) she will not represent the change that many of them wish to bring about in Washington.

Comment: I'm no Statistical Wizard, so perhaps someone could explain to me -- simply, now, simply -- how Senator Clinton's huge lead in this poll against her Democratic rivals translates into a statistical dead-heat against Giulani (4 points, with a margin of error of +/- 4), while Edwards (at 16% vs. Hillary) absolutely crushes Rudy in the party-against-party match-up.

Now, I'm an independent who doesn't give a tinker's damn about John, Hillary, or Rudy; but, on the face of it, either Americans are either schizier than I thought, or this poll is a fairy tale of the very highest magnitude.

I also think the republicans have to bow to the extreme right wing... and the democrats have to bow to the extreme left... which means america gets hurt when it comes to elected officials

Few people actually watched the debate and it will take some weeks until the impact of the post-debate discussions begin to have some effect. Like so many ask, I also wonder, who did they poll? Hillary is a double-talking politician who has lots of skeletons in her closet (Remember Clinton-Gate?). Republican will have a heyday with her if she wins the Dems ticket. For him to attack Hillary as being an insider is just ridiculous. He too is an insider. As for double talk, I think this argument is bogus as well. The main problem we have with Bush is that he never changes his mind. Giuliani has been spitting more venom at Iran then even Bush has, and he has surrounded his campaign with the same Neo-cons who pushed the war in Iraq, and are now pushing to bomb Iran. If you want another George Bush in the White House, by all means be foolish enough to vote for Giuliani. If you want an end to the pointless war in Iraq, a tuff diplomatic solution to Iran, better healthcare, and a better 90's era economy, you best vote for Clinton. Most Americans realize this, which is why she continues to spank poor Rudy in the polls. This poll shows that despite the best efforts of bias blowhard's like Tim Russert and Chris Matthews....Hillary in unstoppable.

The problem I see, is that she is in bed with AIPAC and would in all probability start a war with Iran, if Bush doesn't do it first.

Comment: Hillary Clinton is the best choice for the Democratic Party. John Edwards is just a lawyer, who trying to act like he cares for the poor. He claims Hillary is an insider and he is not. This argument is ridiculous. He has a 10, 000 sq ft home, likes $100 haircuts, has been a senator, and has twice run for president. Now does that sound like an outsider to you? As for Obama, this two year old senator is extremely unskilled. He hasn't performed well in any debate. Also his biography, is extremely shoddy at best. From his attacking of Hillary Clinton, he clearly has gotten rid of the politics of hope, and is gladly promoting the politics of desperation. Obama is good at hamming it up with Jay Leno and David Letterman, but he absolutely has nothing serious to offer America. Hillary Clinton is the democrats best shot at the White House. If Democrats are foolish to choose someone else, then we deserve to lose...because we will!

Guess who pays for all of these "great" ideas of hers? You and I. All of our taxes will go up to pay for her stupid ideas of universal health care and let's not forget she is for illegal immigrants.

Shes backs the governor of New York, who wants to give licenses to illegal immigrants ... does anyone understand how assinine that truly is? This would allow people who aren't from this country to vote in our elections!

By telling the uninformed public this, they basically just jump o her imaginary bandwagon, without even giving the other, more respectable candidates an in-depth look. Whoever will keep pumping money into a failing capitalist system is who the major corporations want. Oh, wow, Newsweek is part of a huge media conglomerate..what a surprise. We are nearing a civil war of epic proportions because the voices of the lower classes are no longer relevant to the powers that be.
