THE BATTLEGROUND

Iowa’s Field Of Dreamers

When nominating contests were squeezed into January, it was to ease Iowa's impact. But in an ironic twist, the Hawkeye State may now be more crucial.

Comment: 2008 Presidential Candidate Weekly Poll

  • Posted By: I_Tank_Reservoir @ 11/19/2007 12:35:41 AM

Comment: The essential focus of the presidential campaign has only been kept with Hillary. I am a very conservative person with a short liberal agenda. The ability of Hillary to negotiate in voter sophistication of America personally impresses me. When looking up at what America is; fundamental American values are in Hillary. Forgiveness, the good fights and respect for life that encompass the grandeur and the street of this country. The solution for America is believe and succeed. She is sharp in contrast opposing provincial leadership of George Walker Bush. I will believe in America again with Hillary. Amen.

Comment: Am I correct in assuming that Evan Thomas and Richard Wolffe are from the East Coast? As someone who grew up and went to college in Iowa (which is one of the best states in the nation to earn an education, thank you) and who still has a large family there, I found this article highly insulting. It seems you did your best to perpetuate the myth that Iowa is nothing but a vast wilderness of corn and soybean fields sparsely populated by unsophisticated rednecks who neither know nor care anything about the outside world. Did you even walk into one of Iowa's several cities? Speak to anyone, other than the former governor, who may have gone to school beyond 12th grade? Or post a picture of something that wasn't, I don't know... a field? Thank you so much for failing to look beyond the tired stereotype of midwestern life. Your shallow article was truly a joy to read. (those last two sentences were sarcasm, by the way. Not all Iowans are "too nice").

Comment: As an agressively voting Iowan, I am appalled by this article. Your views, tainted by this ignorant woman, portray all Iowans to be stupid and indecisive! I believe I speak for the majority of Iowans when I say we proud ourselves for being considered "nice" but when it comes to the future of our country, we are far from innocent! For Iowans, like the Vondraks, who don't vote in the caucuses because they don't believe the results will matter-you are completely wrong!! As stated in the article, Iowa caucuses have predicted the parties' candidates about sixty percent of the time which is also why the three-leading Democrats have spent far more money in Iowa than in any other early-voting state. I hope Iowans and all voters reading this realize the importance of all the caucuses, regardless of state, and get out there and vote! Our country depends on it.

Comment: Former Senator Fred Thompson is the only candidate that gets it. He makes decisions based on principles. Principles don???t change. You have to stand for something and not change who you are based on the polls. That is what Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani have done and all of the Democrats do it. Give me a leader that will stand by his principles anyday versus someone that stands for everything.

I know many Republicans and conservatives that will stay home if Rudy Giuliani is the candidate. He does not represent our values as conservatives, and never will. Millionaire Mitt Romney is a Republican-in-name-only (RINO ) that simply has everything else and nothing to do. ???I guess I???ll just try to buy the presidency???. The White House isn???t for sale! Conservatives will simply stay home and the Democrats will pick up additional seats in the House and probably get the 60 seats in the Senate they need to completely destroy our Country. Nice picture huh?

However, I think Fred can bring America back together, if that???s even possible. America needs a rebirth of patriotism and honor. Republicans also need a rebirth. President Reagan was our last rebirth and he can never be duplicated. Fred Thompson will bring his own down-to-earth common sense to this country. If a conservative runs as a conservative, he will win!

Think of it this way: Eight years of another Clinton White House? Now if that is not a sufficient enough reason to pull together as a nation, and fight this socialist liberal takeover of our government, what is?

Folks, we are in for the fight of our lives, just as our young men and women are fighting for our freedoms in Iraq and Afghanistan, we must fight for our nation right here and now! I truly believe Fred Thompson is the one man who can pull this nation back together! Rudy Giuliani will just tear us apart.

Comment: Rudy has poured over 5 million dollars into Iowa and New Hampshire yet the media plays right into what his campaign is feeding them by lowering his expectations. Newsweek does what it can to discredit Mitt's leads as strictly a result of advertising while Romney has been by far the most diligent campaigner and has the best ground organization. Newsweek has it out for Mitt Romney.

Comment: Newsweek is a corrupt liberal news organization that is determined to de-rail Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee. Mitt is way ahead in Iowa because the folks there like him and his message. Yet in the liberal propaganda piece Mitt gets less than one sentence. How much more corrupt can the "den of liberals" at Newsweek get?

Comment: Newsweek is one of America's most corrupt liberal MSM wolfpack press members. MItt Romney is beating all the GOP candidates in Iowa "because" the people like his message. The corrupt liberals at Newsweek gave Mitt Romney less than "one sentance" in this story. That's because they are working hard with their lies and propaganda to "de-rail" Mitt. Notice to liberal Newsweek. Won't happen. Clean up your "den of liberals" Newsweek! Come clean!

Comment: I don't think the Dean Scream is what imploded his campaign. I feel Dean peaked earlier, people felt he was a one note candidate who would be too much of a chance as the nominee. In some ways this was good as he has taken this party from weak to strong and made us much more viable. He has been a fantastic leader at the DNC.
