Haunted By HIV’s Origins

New research on how the virus may have migrated to North America ignites outrage in Haiti.

    Comment: Read THE RIVER, a journey into the source of HIV and AIDS, Edward Hooper. He researched over 4000 scientific texts and did over 600 interviews, Arvid Noe, a bisexual Norwegian sailor, is the earliest european aids case, possibly infected in Kenya in 1964. He then became a truck driver and had contacts with German homosexuals. At the time, Haiti was a popular vacation spot for gays, Germans included. It was also a stopover for two archival airline steward who dies of aids. Since type B is not an African type but branched off them later, it is impossible to know who first infected who. Certainly, at a very early stage, the disease was traveling both directions. As to the we gave Africa aids comment, Hooper agrees. The medical community might stonewall, but the first cases of aids appeared after 900000 in central Africa were given the Wistar/Hillary Koprowski oral polio vacinee, probably grown in Belgium. Suggested, but never admitted by Koprowski, is the implication that the final substrait in the attenuation of the vaccine was chimpanzee kidney tissue. In 1985, bood smples taken in Stanleyville, Congo were tested for HIV. One tested positive. It is the ealiest. The year the sample was taken was1959, Stanleyville was vaccinated in 1958.

    Comment: There are a lot of poor countries, and most of it is due to internal corruption within their own country. I wish America could feed every person in the world, but to expect us to is ridiculous as it's not possible. The help needs to come from within, but if the powers that run these countries aren't willing to save their own people, our hands are tied. A lot of people expect America to solve the world's problems, but are the first to bash us. The reason why America is so great, is because the people that live here work together to make their country great. A lot of poor countries are run by dictators that suck up all the wealth and let their people starve. The people of these countries need to make their own governments change to work for them, instead of looking for other people to solve their problems. We can't do it all for them, without their pulling their own weight and accepting their responsibility for their governments.

Other countries tried to intervien to help the country the american government turn them down. Believe me if my country was in good standard meaning hospitals, electricity, infrastructure, jobs, universities and a good government of course supported by the american government i would definitely one less haitian man living in this country.     Comment: How do you find the origin of such deadly virus after millions of people died and continue dying from it? why any and every deadly disease(s) are usually originated either a third world country or the mother land AFRICA? Must i rise my child to believe that the white man can do no wrong, except inventing and creating goods . His-story teaches us that being black is a curse. Black people rarely get any credit but instead demoralising us. The haitians have absolutely nothing to do with the HIV/AIDS virus. I don't believe it's originated in AFRICA. If we really want to know where it came from, let's start questionning the american and the european government. must i say the " ILLUMINATI. " As a super power we predict the future, we arrange for the future. Why didn't we tackle this epidemy earlier on? There is a cure for the virus but remember that we are living in a capitalist system, special interest at its best.     Comment: It is meaningless to blame. If you want, yoiu can do something for those HIV patients, do something to prevent the spreading of HIV. If you can not do these things, you can simply go to blog of forum of HIV personal and support site like pozgroup.com to support the members.

    Comment: I don't think the research was being racist. Anyone who knows anything about HIV/AIDS knows it has nothing to do with race, religion, or creed. It affects everyone. The research is being done to help better understand this horrible Virus. In order to better understand something, you need to know where it came from, and how it has evolved since. Only then can they truly understand how the virus works. this is an attempt to stop this virus not spread blame. Those of you who think otherwise get a life!! If all you have time to do is pull the race card than you definately need one. oh btw b4 I get hate male my brother is poz and has been for years as have several of my friends and I emplore the research that is being done.

    Also, I'm wondering why a young haitian man is living in America, if he thinks it's the worst country in the world? You're not imprisioned here. There are plenty of imigrants that would be honored to have the opportunities you do.

Also, the ETs are racist, they hate all humans, but especially the darker colored homo sapiens around the world. The U.S. was actually established by humans, which is why the Declaration of Independence is so good, and why the Constitution is so ideal. But ETs came to colonize this planet, and they decided the U.S. was the best base from which to launch world domination so as to exploit Earth's resources (including its people, which they still use as slaves). Also, the truth of the U.S. Civil War is that it had nothing to do with slavery or states' rights -- it was all about a dispute between two factions of ETs over which was the best way to create a race of human slaves on the planet, starting with the humans of the U.S. Since then, the ETs have made sure to foment race disunity, so whites and blacks will never come together as a single race, the HUMAN RACE, because if we do, we'll present a powerful opposition to the ET conglomerate.

    Comment: worldlastbreed is on the right track, but left out the part about the extraterrestrials who have been running the U.S. gov't since about 1830. The U.S. Civil War had nothing to do with slavery or states' rights -- the truth is it was fought between factions of extraterrestrials who were colonizing Earth, starting with the U.S. Both factions were racist, which explains why we still have racisim to this day. If it wasn't for extraterrestrial scientific knowledge the young U.S. would not have been able to create HIV in the lab. The virus was first used against slaves and former slaves, but quickly spread to the Caucasian community, which didn't bother the E.T's. because it makes way for more colonists to come from outer space.

    Comment: For me, the biggest take-away is that Americans spread HIV throughout the world. I'm not a scientist, but follow this logic. HIV began in Africa and mutated from monkey's to humans either through consumption of monkey meat or some other means. Infected people travel to Haiti and infected a few more folks. Then, infected people move to the US and the disease spreads rapidly. Worldwide contagion did not happen until after the disease spread to America. Therefore, Americans spread HIV throughout the world. I think Worobey's study needs to be re-examined carefully, but the obvious seems to jump out at me. Even if HIV originated in Africa and incubated in Haiti, it was neither Africans nor Haitians that spread the disease. I don't mean to point the finger, but if we want to look at the facts and follow "breadcrumbs" it seems the obvious is staring us all in the face.

    Comment: Since Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and has always had an unstable government with dictators, what is the likelihood of an African leaving his country to visit or live in 1969 or earlier? If AIDS did come from Africa to Haiti, the carrier had to be either a white European or American because they were the only one who had the means to live and travel during 1969. Most likely, they injected these poor Haitians with the disease similarly to the syphilis test they did on black men in America. I think we need to ask this "scientist" what other information does he have regarding how AIDS actually got into patient zero.

      Comment: In your comment, not only have you insulted Haitians by insinuating that no one would want to visti Haiti, but every other person who is not white by saying that only white Europeans or Americans had the means to live and travel during 1969. Haiti is a beautiful country with amazing people, even now being the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Under the dictatorships of Papa and Baby Docs, Haiti was a very popular tourist destination. Beyond that, there is a thing called diplomacy - embassies and consulates all over the world, which means there are people from all over the world in every country, no matter the economic or political situation.

      And in 1969, all non-white people were too poor to travel the world? Or did you mean too ignorant or too self-absorbed to look beyond their own neighborhoods? What ever the sense, it is quite offensive. Even before 1969 and the American Civil Rights Movement, there were whites and non-whites throughout the world who had the means and the interest to travel the world and experiment and learn new things.

And I personally take offense, as should every human being regardless of skin color, at the idea that you can make allegations of rich white people injecting HIV into poor black Haitians with absolutely no evidence except your own racist xenaphobia to back it up.

    Comment: Everyone knows that the AIDS and HIV outbreaks during the early 1980s were primarily among homosexual men. Furthermore, as everyone can recall, Haiti was a country virtually untouched by this syndrome and virus. For scientist Worobey to suggest that secluded, poor, and segregated Haitians unwittingly forwarded any health issue of this sort is unjustly biased with no scientific heed to what is observable. It is well known that wealthy, not rich, but wealthy, implying upper middle class and poor rich, homosexual men with the ability of vertical and horizontal mobility were the primary patient zeros of that day, with a particular focus on Gaetan Dugas. While poor, immobile, African heterosexuals is certain areas were devastated by AiDS, where could they have contacted such a devastation if it were not for the degenerate contact those wealthy enough for mobility to bring it to them. AIDS and HIV are a disease of the Caucasian middle classes, whose mobility to spread HIV from continent to continent is evident and demonstrable. It is devastating as well to know that any scientific community could hold any kind of credence in a report of such obvious degree of abusing one's scietific position to promote the widespread acceptance of bigotry under the cloak of science. It must be known that humans are not the originators of HIV or AIDS, but are mere carriers of this virus-- a virus attaching itself to humans by environmental contact. How typical for a racist Arizona scientist to scream his zenophobia through his work. I am just in shock that he did not blame Mexicans for the spread of HIV. How interesting that this scientist does not regard AIDS and HIV patterns of origination and of migration in Asia: Russia, Japan, and China in particular. Worobey is a bigot, not a biologist, and certainly not a scientist. And of course, look at the source: Spinweek, Inc. How did I get here? I am sure Worobey can answer that with his bigotspin.

      Comment: Calm down down dude, the study only involves how HIV came to North America. I'm sure there will be similar studies on how it got to other parts of the world. Nowhere oin the study does it suggest Haitians are the source of all HIV. If the molecular genetic evidence says that the strains of HIV in North America are most likely descended from the strains that were found in Haitian immigrants in the 1960's, then that's what the evidence says. I personally know many scientists and politics is the last thing on their mind. They simply tell the truth as they find it.

I believe it has been proven over and over again that there exist absolutely no scientific evidence anywhere in the world that HIV came from Haiti or had anything to do with Haiti.       Comment: One more time...The study does not state that all HIV came from Haiti. It simply follows the trail of breadcrumbs that exists in the genetic evidence of the virus in North America back to Haiti. Someone had to get infected first right? Haitian immigrants going back before the 1960's showed HIV in their blood, and that HIV is the ancestor of all of the virus in North America. This is not a political statement. Should France be mad at England if it is found that A French citizen was the first to bring it there? No. You are ridiculous for attaching supposed political underpinnings to an otherwise scholarly investigation. The timing and migration patterns make sense, Don't use this as some excuse to hate white people - the racist conspiracy theories are wearing a little thin.

    Comment: I would assume the Haitians are as insulted as the homosexuals in America were/are, when they were told AIDS is "punishment" from God, and that they deserved to get the "gay cancer". And I can't wait for the continued squealing about gay sex in bathhouses as the cause of AIDS. Think about this, heteros of America: Do you think that encouraging gays, with both the carrot and the stick, to mainstream themselves, come out of their closets, and settle down would have minimized or accelerated the wave of death and suffering that is AIDS in America? Can't have that same sex marriage thing...since heteros have the lock on successful marriages...
    Of course, around the rest of the world the tendency is for AIDS to be a hetero disease, which is ok to talk about, provide cheap, CHEAP meds for, etc. But, even then...let's talk abstience, etc. etc. rather than acknowledge that humans are sexually driven creatures, and instead of treating sex as dirty, sinful, immoral...treat the soul so it doesn't feel the need to seek sex in such voluminous amounts.
    Can't cure that with a pill tho, can you?
    Ultimately, don't we need to understand how this disease blew up into the massive epidemic it did, not just from a sexual ecology prospective, but also from the epidemilogical? Regardless of "who started it first"?

    Comment: I was struck by the irony of the date of 1969 cited in this article. In 1969 the Gay Liberation movement began after the stonewall riots. One of the manifestos of the movement declared that heterosexual morality was immoral. Liberation became a death sentence for too many young men with the emergence of aids seemingly at the same time as the emergence of apparent triumph.

Once it is force to your brain, it is become a part of your life and you as a people become label. For example, there's no such thing as black and white (it's a make beliieve). During the american civil war, i strongly believe the american government which at the time was and still a racist government with the help of the american scientists created this virus( HIV / AIDS ) to destroy the black race. They started to spread it in Africa because Africa was the heart of civilisation which dominated the world. Haiti is a huge threat to the american government of becoming the first black republic in 1804. We chased the (Americans) and the (French) masters out of our country in retribution they infested us with all type of viruses, diseases and forcing us into poverty. Now Haiti is labeled as the poorest country in the western hemisphere but only three hours away from the world super power. " DO THE MATH PEOPLE"
