    To tmtd
I would only change one word in your comments. Your sentence beginning with "I have always been a republican" I would change republican to democrat and still fill same as you. National politicians today are only concerned about getting reelected no matter how. F,E.B.

apparently no one really read this article...... this is proof that Mike Bloomberg can do a better job than any other candidate so far..... wanna compare his pros and cons? see that he has more success and achievements in his life and as a Mayor that Hillary as a senator, rudy as a mayor, romney as a governor, etc..... open your eyes people.... media says that americans are stupid but you still dont do anything about it....

Texas? You gotta be kidding. Same with the other red states Bloomberg is rerentlessly and aggressively anti-gun. Guliani can be forgiven because he limited his efforts to NYC. Bloomberg sent his minions to sue gun-stores in Virgina.

True, to New Yorkers, the only use for firearms is for yound inner city males to fight duels. Lacking expereince, In more civlized areas, an antigun position will cost you 3-7% of the popular vote, no matter what the other issues are. This is enough to swing most elections. .

George Bush is now president because in the '94 election the incubent Texas governor Ann Richards was not sufficiently pro-firearms so George dubya beat her. And she was very popular otherwise.

"He is pro-choice, pro-gun control and pro-gay rights." Now I am what many refer to to as a swing voter. I am a christian conservative who typically votes Republican, but won't this time because of the war. There are many like me. We don't mind status quo on abortion. And having to have a license, to show competance before owning a gun makes sense. So, we can bend there. But Pro-Gay rights too? Three strikes and your out. A centrist would not choose advocacy for the three social hot buttons of our time. If Mike believes in all three of those thingds, then he is not a centrist. I am.

And many of us are looking for a centrist. I am.

    • Posted By: centriststation @ 11/05/2007 2:59:34 PM

lol..... you think the rest of the country cares about a failed development or congestion pricing. You NY'rs really do think you are the center of the country. Bring on Bloomberg!!

    • Posted By: Greg Sekellick @ 11/05/2007 2:37:25 AM

You call yourself a centrist, but you're ant-choice, anti-gun control, anti-gay rights, and a self described Christian conservative. Wow, that's mind boggling to me. Why don't you stop deluding yourself; you are not a centrist. In fact, you sound like, well, a Christian conservative. By the way, you should check out Ron Paul. He is a Christian republican who does not support the war.

theboltguy, thank us New Yorkers along with a few other chosen "liberal cities and states" for the little prosperity found in the US today.

If Bloomberg ran for president I would most definitely vote for him, even though I'm tired of seeing an old, white dude in that office. As much as I would love to see a woman, minority, post-op transvestite - heck, anyone who's not a member of the good ol' boys club - become president of the United States, I just can't stomach the two-party system anymore. We need a BIG change and we need it now. Our country is starting to crumble before our eyes and no one seems to notice this. We are making some of the same fatal flaws the Romans made and we are not learning from our mistakes, we are making them over and over again. Here's a clue people, Rome fell and so can we. Maybe not tomorrow, but it will happen if we don't get our *** together and learn to be adaptable and change with the times. I think having an Independant win the election might just send the wake-up call we need. And did I mention the fact that I also LOVE the fact that Bloomberg doesn't have to kiss the a@#es of the lobbyists! He doesn't need your money Beeotches, he can run for office and run the country the way HE sees fit without pressure from you a@#holes. Wow, wouldn't that be nice...

    • Posted By: tmtd @ 11/05/2007 2:03:35 PM

I agree with the two party system being worthless. Most politicians are affluent and use smoke and mirrors to keep themselves voted in. Ask yourself this--how many politicians ever keep their promises? Do you even know what they promise to do when elected? The debates are a laughable comedy. The questions that are never answered directly or indirectly. The candidates use the questions to spout their agendas or points that they think will get them elected. Our country needs the voters to march on their municipalities and capitals and demand the politicians become accountable fiscally and ethically. The corruption starts at the local level and goes straight to the big white house. I have always been a republican, but have come to a point where I am disgusted by all politicians regardless of their affilitions. These people continue to improve their financial situations while depleting middle and lower America of the American dream. Banks give out credit cards to young adults and people who are fiscally irresponsible. When bankruptcy occurs, the tax payer pays the bill. Let the banks pay the bills. Elected officials stink worse than many of our waste plants. They have lost the concept of what public service is all about. I wish I could run, not because I am perfect as we are all flawed, but because I have ethics and do not feel backroom bed deals and favors are the way to govern our country. Shame of the political leaders including George, Hillary, Obama, my governor, Corzine. All these people believe they are wonderful and they care. Ask George why the war was not run by competent Generals, ask Hillary how she used the televised town meetings with desperate people expecting socialized medicine what they received, ask her about the people in Arkansas when she was a lawyer and how many families she financially hurt. Question Obama why he needs to use his skin color to garner votes? Ask Gov. Corzine why he used his lover's position at the union's president to push through a contract. Politicians lack ethics and yet we feel that we need to vote for someone regardless of the selection. It is a terrible day when most people select who they think is the least harmful (commonly stated "the lesser of two evils). I say the politicians need a message--Let us march together on voting day and not vote. That will show that "We The People Know that our votes have stood for nothing in the last few years...... Americans need to unite against our corrupt government.

There is no way Bloomberg could get elected outside of New York with his anti-gun sentiments.

  • Posted By: redsky @ 11/05/2007 1:30:16 PM

that's it Mike592? your entire political outlook on Boomberg is based on one issue? Rather myopic. I think his goal is for you to keep your gun to yourself and keep them off the streets of new york. Not exactly a big picture guy are you?

  • Posted By: theboltguy @ 11/05/2007 1:27:36 PM

its funny to me that a gun hating liberal referal to the founding fathers when his illegal attempts into making honest gun shop owners look bad is a total joke. he had a convicted felon working for him trying to make a straw purchase. like the gun shop owners knew this. the person who actually bought the weapon was legal to do so. then he climbed on his soapbopx and chimed to the world that these gunshop owners where knowingly selling to convicted felons. what a total joke blookberg is. id vote for binladen before id vote for this clown

It's ironic (and disgusting) how much this article discusses Bloomberg's supposed affinity for patriotism and the ordinary citizens that won our American Revolution, given the fact that he is one of the most active zealots obsessed with stomping out our Second Amendment rights. The founding fathers that he claims to admire are spinning in their graves due to his (sometimes illegal -- see Virginia gun dealer lawsuits) attempts to deny law-abiding, ordinary individuals their innately held right to keep and bear arms for their security that our Constitution guarantees. Perhaps he needs to read up on Paul Revere and our nation's history a litle more.

Any GOP member gets into office will bring only more blood on our hands as they want to rule the world, not the country!

    • Posted By: bob j @ 11/05/2007 12:23:08 PM

to pink panther,,,,not Ron Paul,,hes against the war ,,bring all our troops home and tend to our own affairs.

It's ironic (and disgusting) that so much of this story focused around Bloomberg's dedication to "patriotism" and the heroic, ordinary citizens that fought for our freedom during America's Revolution. This billionaire elitist is one of the most active zealots in our country trying to stomp the Second Amendment out of existence. The founding fathers that he supposedly admires are spinning in their graves thanks to his (sometimes illegal) attempts to remove the cornerstone of our country's freedom -- an individual right for every law-abiding, everyday citizen to keep and bear arms for their security.

Bloomberg will not give the election to Hillary but ensure a GOP victory. die hard christian conservatives will vote Republican - since they believe it is their god given duty to stop gays and abortion.

    • Posted By: aChristian @ 11/04/2007 1:27:23 PM

Your right , it is our God given duty to be true to the God in whom this county was formed. Sin is sin, no matter if you call murdering babies (abortion) and sodomy being gay.

      • Posted By: angelus1967 @ 11/05/2007 11:32:30 AM

You die hard christians are NOT the founders of this country. The founding fathers were deiests at most and some were down right agnostic. You dis hard christians are trying to hijack this country and exclude a segment of human beings and take control of womens bodies. I do not wish to live in a christian theocracy so I will vote against the far right/religious right at every chance I get!

    • Posted By: aChristian @ 11/04/2007 1:22:39 PM

Us die hard Chirstians are the founders of this wonderful free country. GOD is the foundation of it. God called gays and muder ( abortion ) sin.

Never! Whi in the world would we vote for yet another rich billionaire elitist and expect anything to change? There is nothing in this guy's record to indicate he would by anything except more of the same. I want change, real, lasting and radical change.

  • Posted By: gberges @ 11/05/2007 9:54:20 AM

No more elites, it amazes me that for over two decades we have elected two presidents from two different dynastic families. Now we are talking about electing a billionaire to run the country, truly, if there ever was class warfare, the rich and powerful have won. May this not last, it probably has to get worst before it gets better.

  • Posted By: newsveek @ 11/05/2007 9:05:00 AM

Fageddaboudit! He's a sure no-show. However deep his pockets may be.

Mayor Mike had an appealing no-nonsense style going for him for a few years there. But he's made some bad moves since then that have taken the bloom off the rose. That ill-conceived west-side development project was a major mistake; it carried a stong odor of Mike doing a favor for some of his wealthy developer buddies, And this new congestion tax has a lot of ordinary people p-o'd at His Honor. Not to mention the stacked-deck of a commission that's charged with evaluating the proposal. Bloomberg for President? Neva happen!

I am a recent Iraq war veteran. I am also a college student majoring in International Relations. For the last year or so I've been following the possibility of a Bloomberg candidacy, and at this point, if he makes the decison to throw in his lot, he has my vote. Neither of the traditional parties says much to me other than that I'm in for more-of-the-same mis-government. Their candidates are stale. Traditionally I have voted Republican ( two for Bush, to my chagrin), but that has been for a lack of better options. I sincerely hope that in '08 Mayor Bloomberg runs for the Presidency. He has my moderate vote.

This nation needs a chief executive who is more concerned with what is right and just instead of what is most popular. We need someone who can govern toward real results and true progress instead of party rhetoric and political agendas. We need someone who has the vision, experience and passion of a true and demonstrated leader. Bloomberg08nyc.com
