There is no way he would win. He may be a very successful mayor and businessman and have a lot of good ideas for leading America back into the limelight. The problem is his religion...there is still too much hatred and anti-semitism for us to have a Jewish president. I wish it were otherwise, and that religion did not matter, but I am afraid it still does. Too bad, he seems like a very good man.

If I was a American I would think He would be a logical choice.

Yet another example of the media whores blowing up a worthless politician's skirt, which in this case is for Bloomberg.

    • Posted By: clikdawg @ 11/04/2007 6:59:01 PM

Slight correction, schratboy: Politicians are the whores; the media are just pimps; and someone behind the scenes runs 'em both.

Check out the Independence Party of America!

  • Posted By: georgies @ 11/04/2007 6:52:30 PM

We have been encouraging Mr. Bloomberg to run. Independents love Bloomberg because he does not have to be controlled by ANY special interests and if he can run a billion dollar empire, he can certainly help clean up the mess Washington has become. I joined the Independence Party of America because they are pushing Bloomberg to run. Frank MacKay is the Chair and he is a working to make this happen. Also check ou out Draft Bloomberg.

I know many people who would vote for Bloomberg in a heartbeat. Mayor Bloomberg has every attribute voters seek in a presidential candidate. Mayor Bloomberg has the smarts to deal with the problems facing this country. Neither Republicans nor Democrats will vote for Julanni. He is joke.
It is disgusting to most Americans when we see the wannabes line up for the country's most important office.
I do hope mayor Bloomberg loves our country enough to consider a higher calling to public service. he would be a shoo- in. MW

Let's be realistic though, America is not a progressive country, and candidates like Obama, Clinton and Giuliani face significant obstacles (ethnicity, gender, religion). Tolerance is not one of our strengths, and for Bloomberg, being Jewish will end up being a liability, unfortunately.

hey second amendment 'ers ,,he's anti gun too!

    • Posted By: abfabinri @ 11/04/2007 4:44:28 PM

Nothing wrong with gun control, after all no one needs machine guns to hunt. The 2nd amendment refers to militias and that was it..read it.

      • Posted By: bob j @ 11/04/2007 5:56:43 PM

it means the whole body of the people ,who could form a militia if need be .the comma makes it a 2 part sentence ,with 2 separate meanings ask any english major or proffessor . and yes we do need machine guns if we are to stand against tyrants ,besides this new world order ,one worlder scum like bloomberg ,would totally disarm us if they could .

      • Posted By: bob j @ 11/04/2007 5:47:46 PM

the second isntt about hunting at all its about personal protection and standing against an abusive and tyanical govt.

As what I like to call a "real" Republican (as opposed to those Republican Party hijackers who belong to the Christian Right and who have been ruining the GOP), my first choice for 2008 is Rudy Giuliani. I live in NYC, and I've seen firsthand how the policies of the Giuliani administration have made/kept this city great. So far, he hasn't shown evidence of pandering to the Christian Right, so I see no reason to change my vote. However, if he isn't chosen as the Republican nominee, or if he does start pandering to the Christian Right, then I would most definitely vote for Bloomberg (assuming he ran). He's done a very good job of keeping this city on track, and remains very popular among people and groups of all types. My only concern about his candidacy is that it might end up giving the election to Hillary.

The policies of Guiliani made New York Great---hahahahahahah--that is laughable.

Christians are not the founders and name me one president who adheres to the seven deadly sins and then vote if you can!!! sin is sin including the seven deadly sins which every politician breaks daily and that is what they are elected to do!!! If you want die hard Christians in office, all women quit and get back to the kitchen, as the bible tells us so!!! Never forget God did not give women the right-mankind did!!!

Right now, I am undecided about who I would vote for but I would definitely vote for Bloomberg if he ran. I hope he does.

  • Posted By: KenBJs @ 11/04/2007 1:35:41 PM

Who is "Arnorld [sic] S.?" If you mean Arnold Schwarzenegger, please READ the Constitution -- he's not a native-born citizen, and would be ineligible to serve not only as President but Vice President, too.

As far as a Bloomberg candidacy goes, thanks but No thanks. His opportunistic, partisan flip-flopping over the past several years clearly demonstrate that Michael Bloomberg is more interested in ???Michael Bloomberg??? than he is interested in ???public service.???

He???s the billionaire mayor of New York, and his NYC mayoral candidacy was about adding another feather to his hat. Today???s (filthy) rich, after becoming bored with the money, like to use that money to run for public office precisely because they can use their obscene amounts of cash to overwhelm an opponent.

Moreover, WHAT has Michael Bloomberg actually done for New York City as mayor?

    (nothing)

The (much-needed) improvements to NYC were started by Giuliani (and I???m still not going to vote for Giuliani), not Bloomberg. Bloomberg just continued Giuliani???s initiatives ??? big deal. It???s like Bush ???41??? after Reagan??? where???s the beef?

In any case, Bloomberg is, essentially, a LIBERAL, and all he would do is hurt the Democratic nominee???s chances of winning the Electoral College, because the fact of his liberalism would be plainly evident, and Bloomberg would not carry one ???Red??? state.

Newsweek need not foist its fanciful love affair with Bloomberg upon the rest of U.S., masquerading as ???news.???
