Michael Bloomberg brings in the much needed Washington "outsider". The country is ready for Mr. Bloomberg and with (a) Obama, or (b) Arnold S. CA., he may very well become our next President.
This is very encouraging.
I can't believe the stupidity and gullibility of the public that they'd even consider this billionaire ***.
This story reads like a paid advertisement. Bloomberg may be phenomenal for all I know, but I can't remember the last time I read a pumped-up encomium like this in a supposedly "objective" publication. The language used is over the top: "Patriotism???of the merit-badge-earning, flag-waving kind???was in his blood." And: "Bloomberg is among the best showmen and leaders at work in American politics." And: "What is not open to question is Bloomberg's steadiness, self-confidence and apparent sanity." The writer calls on the ghosts of Paul Revere and Norman Rockwell to keep spiritual company with Bloomberg. We learn, from no less neutral a source than his sister, that Bloomberg is "a towering intellect."
The writer asserts "that he wants to overcome such divisions of religion, race and class is a tribute to his determination to make the most, and the best, of everything." The writer even did enough research to be able to say "He has been a good father to his two daughters." Come on, guys! In one sense it's refreshing to read a journalistic piece about a politician that does not cynically imply he is venal and manufactured. But surely there is a middle ground between that and a a panegyric.
that's why i said time will tell not one article i listen to people not read what has way to many ways to interpet!! time is still on the voters side!
I would vote for Michael Bloomberg above all existing choices. Add either Obama or Arnorld S. as VP
and they could win in a landslide. The country is ready for a strong and qualified contender.
WELL PUT EC! BUT I WILL HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON BLOOMBERG. AS HE IS A NEWCOMMER, AND TIME IS STILL ON OUR SIDE, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE EDWARDS AND GORE FOR NOW, TILL I SEE AND HERE BLOOMBERG SOME MORE!! TIME FOR THE VOTER IS NOT SHORT YET SO I LIKE EDWARDS FOR NOW IT CAN CHANGE. ALL I WANT IS THE BEST WE CAN GET FOR THE WORST TIME THEY WILL HAVE!
Bloomberg is a great success story, with a strong sense of what the nation needs to repair its broken systems -- we need him at this moment in time and I hope he does run for President.
If Bloomberg ran for president I would most definitely vote for him, even though I'm tired of seeing an old, white dude in that office. As much as I would love to see a woman, minority, post-op transvestite - heck, anyone who's not a member of the good ol' boys club - become president of the United States, I just can't stomach the two-party system anymore. We need a BIG change and we need it now. Our country is starting to crumble before our eyes and no one seems to notice this. We are making some of the same fatal flaws the Romans made and we are not learning from our mistakes, we are making them over and over again. Here's a clue people, Rome fell and so can we. Maybe not tomorrow, but it will happen if we don't get our *** together and learn to be adaptable and change with the times. I think having an Independant win the election might just send the wake-up call we need. And did I mention the fact that I also LOVE the fact that Bloomberg doesn't have to kiss the a@#es of the lobbyists! He doesn't need your money Beeotches, he can run for office and run the country the way HE sees fit without pressure from you a@#holes. Wow, wouldn't that be nice...

At 85+ years of age, I have lived through a Bush (43) Presidency, one of the worst in U. S. history. I want the best President we can get, Democratic or Republican. Bloomberg or Gore would come closer to my wishes than any presently announced candidate of either party. Elderly Chicagoan
Bloomberg's popularity makes Rudy Giuliani's weakness clear. That "America's Mayor" is despised in his own city compared to his moderate successor is just one example of a general trend: once the honeymoon is over, people invariably come to dislike Rudy. The voters in the Iowa, NH, and South Carolina who are paying attention to the race don't like him, the firefighters who served under him hate him, his home city disavows him; heck, even his own family can't stand him.
I GLAD I STILL HAVE TIME TO CHOSE WHO, AND THOSE WHO PRESENT THEMSELVES NOW AS A-HOLES, WILL FALL FROM MY SIGHT! AS I WANT THE BEST WE CAN FIND EVEN IF HE OR SHE WOULD MAKE LITTLE DIFFERENCE IN TODAYS PROBLEMS, UNLESS ELECTED FOR 2 TERMS. WE AT HOME ARE A MESS, AND WE HAVE MADE THE WORLD A PARANOID MESS! TO FIX ALL OF THIS WILL TAKE TIME A ONE TERM PRESIDENT DOES NOT HAVE! AS IT WILL TAKE THE BETTER PART OF ONE TERM TO GET CONGRESS BI-PARTASAIN! WHO EVER WE ELECT WILL NOT BE SUPERMAN OR WOMAN, BUT AS LONG AS THEY WISH TO HELP US IN, OUR OWN COUNTRY, BEFORE WE CARE OR DIE FOR OTHERS IT'S A START!!
I'm voting for Obama. I think a Clinton, Guliani race would be the worst thing for America. No matter what happens, I would love to see Bloomberg run and spend a ton of money on deeping in the debate about problems and solutions. Perot had a huge impact with his darn flip charts and I don't see why any of the current candidates can't present substance in the same way. Independence, substance, with the money use substantive strategies...would mop up over any of the current crowd on both sides. I'd probably still vote for Obama since I think his background would give us the cleanest break from the past and have the best chance of creating a new role in, and approach to, the world. But, I'd still like to see Bloomberg.
