This would be terrible. Remember what happened when we took prayer out of the schools! We take God out of our lives(just to be politically correct) just brings in the devil and all of his evil!! Shame on Americans that let this happen.

Dear Preacher's daughter...If you are a Christian, then you should know that there is One Way to the Father, and that is thru the Son Jesus Christ. That people hold to different views, God says ," All have sinned, and need a Savior. The question is: Do you beleive, or not in salvation? To be "open to others views/beliefs" . is not a sign of openness, but of doubled mindenes.
I really do think people need to relax ... everyone is so uptight about all of this your telling me that in the last 30 times you were in a motel your suddenly offended by the gideon bible ,... if you dont want to read it heres a thought leave it in the drawer that it is usually in ... Instead of making such a big deal out of it ... Man this society has gotten to where its offended on everything lighten up people
But that book! It jumped out at me! it's covers were snapping, and it's pages were flapping, and it chased me across the room! Wait, no, that only happened in a Harry Potter book...

LOL! I loved this! You are right. That Bible is a conscience someone doesn't want to acknowledge. Let's get this straight. The Bibles are DONATED, RIGHT? And 89% of America is "Christian", RIGHT? So if the Jewish person or the Islamic person wants their own scripture present, why don't they DONATE it, RIGHT? So hotels are going over to the opposite bank and focusing on the lewd and immoral? And to that end, discarding the Bibles? Simple answer. Don't frequent those hotels. I for one, wouldn't want my entire clientel to be adulterers. Why does the Bible have to be discarded if people are being "open-minded"? Does not compute. But if you are advocating discarding Christianity, then this is what you do.

Right is right and wrong is wrong!! It doesn't really matter what our opinions are. We keep changing with the world but God never changes. Just because we remain a "safe" distance behind it, doesn't mean we're doing OK. We are now where the "world" was a few years ago. In a few years we'll be where it is now. . . we keep moving the mark.
I am a Christian and I welcome the Bible in hotel rooms. I also would not object to other religious texts, or even books of a secular nature. When the substitute, however, seems to be the "One Night Stand" kit and condoms, we are indeed living lives condemned by the God of Jews, Chrisitians and Muslims alike.
How very tragic to do away with the Holy Bible, the true Word of God and it is Divine. That is like throwing away eternal salvation that only comes from God how very sad. I hope you remember this when true suffering will come to the world as a consequence of our rejecting God and this is in the Bible that it will happen. Book of Revelation speaks to our sick generation. May God have mercy on us! Glory and Blessed our God!
You have one chance in your life to do really good and you gdich are throwing it in the garbage, Life is not about the now but in the hereafter you need to pull your soul and the bible out of the trash. This country is interested in the bible and God,, Christians need to stand up for what is right and the bible is right.
I am glad to hear this trend. I routinely throw the bible in the garbage when I stay in a hotel room. Looks like the country isn't much interested in reading this stuff anyway.
Wow - the Bible a menace? Easily refuted? Something to be tossed in the toilet? Boy, it sounds like some people are really threatened - Hey, I'm a Pentecostal and I've donated to the Gideons so they could provide Bibles in memory of my deceased parents. I was raised by Biblical moral principles and I turned out quite all right, thankyouverymuch. Being Pentecostal, I don't watch TV - but when I'm in a motel room, I don't ask them to remove the TV - I just don't turn it on! I certainly don't stuff it in the toilet - how childish! Christians, it's time to stand up for OUR rights, which are being attacked every day. Don't let the minority dictate what the majority can do! (And by the way, the Bible says that if you are easily offended, it's a spiritual problem - so maybe the naysayers need that Bible more than they think!)
I'm an atheist and I enjoy the bibles in hotel rooms. Even better when there's a book of mormon. If some group would start footing the bill for korans, I'd appreciate that too. It's just a small predictable thing that can offer some quiet entertainment. Think it's more baffling that they're so concerned with their "hip image," right down to what's tucked into a drawer someplace. If removing the donated bibles becomes widespread, I hope they pomy up to replace them with some other book of reading material - perhaps something more image concious, while allowing that hipsters may yet read for leisure.
If you dont like it there thats ok. Just dont read it. It it hurting you by being in the room. Like i am told about thing on tv I dont like just turn it off. They dont take it off because i dont like it. Why should the bible then be taken out of a hotel room. Grow up .
As others have already said, the removal of the Bible from hotel rooms isn???t surprising. Nor is it surprising to learn what has taken its place???not other books or journals or reading materials but condoms and vibrators. It???s fashionable to quote Orwellian scripture when the country is at war; but I???ve always held the opinion that American society more closely mirrors the sordid underground inhabited by the ***-trolling proles. Honest, and public, theological discussions, as well as political discourse, are scaled back as the government overwhelms its people with free pornography, free liquor, and the ???freedom??? from familial responsibilities. The proles of Oceania were easy to oppress precisely because there was a prohibition on virtue.
Those who mentioned the deistic views of the Founders are right, to an extent. I would only add that I do not think their views led them to believe that prohibiting the establishment of religion meant being hostile toward religion. Nor do I think they believed that American statesmen were to remain publicly unattached to religion, especially insofar as Christianity, for example, is more amenable to the ideals of the Enlightenment than atheism. It often seems that distinction is lost among modern scholars. Founding a republican government, dedicated to the natural rights of man, on the idea the universe has no design is probably an impossible task.
The removal of Bibles from hotel rooms isn???t an exercise in moderation???in trying to strike some balance between religiosity and secularism; it???s simply another step toward eliminating anything (Biblical or otherwise) that reminds us that moral imperatives exist.

Does the Bible bother you? It is just a book. If you do not want to see it in your room just don't see it. The same thing happend to me everytime that I was in a hotel room. It really bothered me! However, the content of that book has transfomed the lives of millions of people. Throughout history, people have tried to dissapear that book. Guess what...The Book is still around. A comment of one single person against a 4000 years of history related to that book...?
There was a time, when a family would travel say to Grandma's house, was happy to find a clean place to spend the night on the way; and was pleased they could read their lesson of the day or keep up with their reading or pass the time just browsing the christian bible they anticipated to be there. The family bible was saved from the risks of travel. The amenities of lodging must cater to the desires of its clients. Sad
comment: the Gideon's already know that the bible is the word of God. People who love God and are trying to live life God's way are reading it morning and evening! Providing it at a hotel is a great priviledge. Unfortunately people are pushing God and His word right out of society. Saying that the bible has caused all this death and destruction is simply not true. People choose to do evil or good. God has given everyone the ability to choose. This article shows that our society is choosing to live without God and to do what is right in one's own sight and not God's. What is wrong with following the commandments of God? Following them does not hurt anyone including oneself. Read 2 Tim 3:16 and Psalm 1. Scott
Why not ask the other religions why it took them so long to ask this question. Perhaps they didn't think it was as important as the Gideon's have to provide the word. Do hotels take a survey asking "do you read the bible that is provided in your room?" Maybe they would be surprised at the answer if they did and not just assume it's not needed. When is this "anti-religion" going to end - look in Revelations and you'll find the answer. scutler
If one could prove to me that the Christian bible (or any bible) was God's word, I'd be bringing my own copy to a hotel/motel room. No other book in the history of the world has caused as much suffering, destruction and death as the so-called holy bible. And the irony is that no other book in human history is more easily refuted! I say it's about time responsible people start banning this menace! Darrell W. Conder, editor for www.darrellwconder.com
Replacing bibles with sexual pleasure kits -- what's the surprise? This was basically foretold in the bible.
The End Times: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV). But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. (2 Peter 3:10 NIV).
It was also foretold that nation would rise up against nation -- all the wars going on cannot be BLAMED on religion. They were foretold -- they are expected int he end days. Only those without faith have reason to be concerned.
I wish everyone peace -- but I actually don't know how anyone can have peace without faith.
Who says that Travelers ever "Reliably counted on" a bible in their room? what a rediculas thing to say. I have never "reliably counted on" comic strips, dime store novels, bibles, or any other work of pure fantasy in my hotel room. I am glad to see that hotels are comming to their senses and getting rid of them.
First of all, learn how to spell! Second, this is why our world is so messed up now...people like you supporting fading out Christianity...the TRUTH! I wonder who you will call on when there is tragedy in your life? I just know they will not respond!!! ^_^
