    I thought before I signed into this that this would be a spirit lifter as my anniversary is just around the corner, and then men that I shared so much with's passing is still fresh in my mind. I stand back and as a whole, look at this board, and VERY much so appreciated what the majority of you have taken the time to write. Then I look at the minority (and the two are so close it's scary) and wonder how in the world this country produces such delusional people.

    At the very least, I am thankful for these people though, these people are the ones who make every day INTERESTING to say the very least.

    Let???s face a fact here; our military doesn't go around shooting families with "their guns" for fun. Her brothers and she are fighting in this war that is controversial to say the least. They are out their trying to make a better life for the people who live there by making a government ect. Some of the people out there really want our help, but then there are some who don't--and kill to make it known-. I call these people terrorist because they kill themselves, others, as well as children. They also kill each other because of their own beliefs; it's not just us they are fighting. On a personal note as a military wife, I support my husband 100% as well as his brothers and sisters. By all means, people in the military do not volunteer do go oversea to fight wars. They go because they are protecting people like you, so you can have your opinions and speak out about it. How would you feel if you could be be-headed for speaking your mind in this country? I would be thankful for what you have Mr. Smith...if it were not for our military, you wouldn't be so eager to speak your mind.

      Are you out of your EFFING MIND?! Pay attention to what is REALLY going on overseas there Mrs. Marine Corps Wife. We did not MURDER any families, or RAPE any villages or any of the OTHER GARBAGE you can talk crap about. My squad and company spent our time over there training THEIR police force and THEIR military. Placing OUR money into their economy buy buying the native foods from our AO and from the shops on our FOBs. So come here sweety, and let me show you how I feel about what you've said with one of my extra feet crammed down your pretty little THROAT.

      Please explain to me why would someone think that the occupational force in Iraq is actually protecting the citizens of the United States? If anything, the presence of American soldiers in Iraq is bound to bring only more terrorists, because the rest of the world sees this war as an illegal war. American acts of aggression all over the world were the cause for.hatred and terrorism in the first place. The Spanish and the British have learned that the hard way. Their presence in Iraq was the sole cause for the terror attacks they've experienced in Madrid and London.

      Unfortunately, the only cause the American soldiers in Iraq are fighting for, is oil. Which is not even theirs to take. My mama calls that stealing. America brought war and suffering to Iraq, and it will only bring up more and more terror. So the only thing american soldiers protect is the right for the average American to buy cheap gas at the gas station. But the price for that is thousands of American and Iraqi lives and the taking of personal liberties.

      Me on the other hand, i still live in a free world, it's called Europe, we still have freedom of press and democracy, I may pay twice as much for gas as you would, but at least i can sleep at night, knowing i have no blood on my hands.

    Thank you Marissa...........we will never forget your fallen comrades.........we are grateful to them for the sacrifice of their lives which gave the jerks that have written before me the right to express their ungrateful opinion. My favorite saying is "If you can't stand behind the troops, then please, go stand in front of them." If you don't like America I am sure there are other counties that would love to have you move there. And we would not miss you.

      I agree with Hawkeye, that bomb cut through my truck like a hot knife through butter. Hence they are figuring out how to rip through our armor, and where the weak spots in our trucks are. Pay attention to what is going on. If you are going to speak, at least speak intelligently.

    Marissa Strock appears to have the right attitude to succeed in anything thing she does. A good story to inspire others. It is also good to hear that the VA is getting better in its' treatment of Veterans. I am sure Reynolds and Delgado are smiling approvingly at her from above!

    Dear Marissa, you go girl!!! I am so proud of you, reading what you are doing, moving forward and planning what good to do next, not sitting being a Victim!! You made all of us so proud our eyes welled up when we read your story. You are the spirit of the America of my youth ( I am old) that is still alive and well today, despite all the coverage of the other types of kids out there that don't know where their freedom came from.     From one Iraq veteran to another. Marrisa you are my hero. I swell up with tears when I read about an amputated or severly burnt veteran who comes out on top and doesn't let the horrors of war get in the way of what they want to accomplish not to metioned return to service. That's the American spirit I long to see in all of us. Marrisa, you bring tears to this old Devil Dogs eyes with your beautiful soul. God bless you soldier and Semper Fi to you and to all our fighting men and women. Get with the program America.

    I do agre with was mentioned before, this unnecessary war that Bush started was backed by a no back bone Congress. Still after 5 years of this fiasco they still give him the money to get more Americans killed,and at the same time run this countries economy in the ground end nothing has changed in Iraq.

    SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - NO BETTER FRIEND - NO WORSE... ENEMY - I'm not pro-war and at the same time I believe in fighting for what I believe in. My questions to you are, why are some / protesters not asking the suicide bombers to return home to their families and destroy their bombs? Why are the protesters not asking the terrorist to return home to their families and stop blowing up trains, buses, planes and buildings killing indecent people. I don???t see or hear anyone protesting countries developing nuclear bombs. The bottom line is, its takes two to make a fight. If the terrorist would stop the bombing, killing etc then the American troops would stop fighting (Rules of Engagement) then more troops could return home. The troops themselves don???t want to ???cut and run???. USA Today, ???Despite hardships of war, many soldiers reenlist. A Vet 1966-1969

    I cried as I read this article. Marrisa you are courageous and I am proud to be an American because of young men and women like you. If I was young enough I would like to have joined the armed services and fought along your side. I do not agree with the comments about Bush starting an unnecessary war. Someone had to step up to the plate and be a HERO and rescue these people from the torture they were going through. These people have as much right as we do to live in a peaceful and secure atmosphere like we do.

      You're are entitled to your beliefs just as I, and one day all who believe in war will understand that WAR DOESNT BELIVE IN YOU. LoVe is all that really matters on this planet. Unfortunately humans have created too much confusion to see this the fog. The illusions are much too convincing for people to form a more substantial truth. It saddens me but I have great peace and LoVe in my heart that fills my life with something more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

    Thank You , Marrisa. I have a 2 1/2 year old son that I thank you for too. I am too smart to buy the argument about "if we could all just love each other" like some of the comments I've read. Loving each other is a nice sentiment, but I am 47 years old and have learned that there are some people in other countries who just do not like us (911 is evidence of that). That is why we need brave people like you.

    I am an administrator working at a Trade school in the South Pacific. Last Friday,November 9th our school secretary and counselors; few students (the entire student body was in class) wanted to create a huge banner Thanking soldiers living and those who passed on to commemorate Veteran's Day holiday 11/12/07. What was enthusiastic about this gesture from this school was the Patriotic spirit and love. We salute you!

    Thanks Marissa. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have what it takes to do what you have done for your country. Anyone who doesn;t appreciate or understand your sacrifice should be shipped to IRAQ permanently post-haste. In fact, I'll even consider helping to pay for their one way ticket. Thanks again.
