TO ALAN_SMITHEE04 (@metalurg) If thats all you have to say about this Mother ,soldier, and friend of this Nation, Then I could most positively say your comments merrit a badge of used toilet paper. Not only dose your statement enforce my distain for vain bableing and people that like to make them self "seem" or "feel"smart . I hope speaking out of context is not a habit of yours. And Yes we are a Representative Repubulic but if you contiune reading; in the articles of our Government system ,it is a system of government by the whole population;Usual through elected representives and a nation so governed;on democratic principles and as a classless (casteless) and tolerant form of society.

Thanks Marissa. I'll be the first to admit I don't have the guts you have. However, I'm extremely thankful that people like yourself exists. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who doesn't appreciate what you have given deserves a one way ticket to IRAQ. I'd even consider paying for the ticket myself. Thanks again.

We should have never gone to Iraq. Bush had NO RIGHT sending our troops to war, and for what? It wasn't because of 9/11, our freedom or about terrorism. It was because Bush wanted Iraq's oil. Now look at all of our troops who died over this senseless war. I don't know how Bush sleeps at night, knowing he killed so many. Bush is a disgrace to this country and the American people. We are NEVER going to win the war on terrorism. It's going to get worse and worse, but Bush doesn't care one way or another. It's ashame, Bush gets away with all he does and sure can't wait till he's either impeached or his term is up. He has made too many mistakes and don't know why this country let him get away with it. He does nothing for this country or the American people. I feel sorry for all who lost their lives over this senseless war. Bring our troops home, so they can protect our borders and keep the unwanted out and get rid of the ones who are here illegally. When is this country going to wake up and realize what's going on? Bush, Cheney and his whole administration are liars and have been lying to the American people since day one. Now it is time for an end to it.

Please, please, please. If you are going to comment, at least know your facts. While President Bush supported our involvement in the Middle East, he alone does not make the decisions. Without the backing of Congress President Bush would not be able to send troops anywhere. He may be the commander-in-chief but without Congress's OK he would have no money to send the military anywhere, to purchase any supplies, etc.
As for "never going to win the war on terrorism" I fully agree. As long as Rich pampered people control the actions of our military, they will never win anything. We learned this in Korea, Vietnam and we are teaching a new generation this. Congress never interfered with military planning/objectives until after WWII and we have seen the results. Congress overseeing and directing military actions is like putting a teen-ager in charge of a multi billion dollar company. No experience, no know-how, but lots of best intentions.

I have never served in the Military however, Staff Sgt. Kellie Mathews has. She is my Daughter. When I read Marissa's article, I felt that she was another one of mine. Yes these are our kids, who don't want to be there, but because of their unselfish life commitment, we are able to wake up everyday knowing they are there for us. All Americans should be there for them as well.

God Bless Marissa and all the other sons and daughters that are serving in our military. Say what you want about this war and look down on all the military personnel, but let me be the first one to say......WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE THE SOLDIERS THERE FOR US. If you wouldn't join, don't critize the ones that have. They don't critize your job!

" I wouldn't lose any sleep over going back there and getting rid of the terrorists who tried to kill me."

I do not get her point, they are not terrorists, she went into their country, her people slaughtered families, with their guns, f-16's

    is she that ignorante?

    albertsmith56@aol.com

    • Posted By: igreen59 @ 11/12/2007 4:18:59 PM

Her people? Does this mean that you are not an American. Well, good! This means that you can go back to whatever hole from whatever country you crawled out from. No albertsmith56 (is that your IQ?), Marissa is not ignorant. She is a courageous, unselfish, amazing American Hero! She and her fellow comrades are the people who have ensured that you have the freedom to share with the whoe world, the stupid garbage that is in your head. You are so incredibly stupid!!

I am sure that Marissa is too busy doing more wonderful things, but if you read any of these comments, please let the heartfelt ones offer you even more encouragement. I don't know if I would have as much courage as our military men and women. My love and prayers are with all of you.

    • Posted By: stacynadler @ 11/12/2007 2:56:30 PM

Clearly Marissa's ignorance is not what should be questioned. Perhaps you should invest in a dictionary in order to look up words that you do not understand (or cannot spell) such as ignorant. While you have the dictionary out try looking up freedom, sacrifice, honor, integrity, and selflessness.

To Marissa- Thank you for your dedication to a cause greater than yourself.

If i am correct all these people that are against Bush voted for him right. My husband has been in the army since before 9/11 he has ALWAYS wanted to fight for america even though before he joined he was illegal but got his citizenship fixed and now is serving 10 years in the military. It was a choice for him to join but he didn't have a choice to be sent over there. I respect my husband and all the other men and women of uniform because most of them came from different countries and fight for us you and me i was born an american. Do you every think of how it makes them feel reading Stuff like this how people bash them and all they are doing even if it may not be right in our eyes. PLEASE RESPECT THEM they deserve it. I want to believe that my children are having to go through life missing there daddy for 18 months for a reason can you do that miss out on your childrens life to help selfish people because i don't think i could. Do you ever think of the children that may never meet there mother or fathers because they never made it home from the war.Give them hope just let them know there has to be a reason for us being over there and that your love ones died for a reason. As a military wife this is what we do we serve just as our men do. Thank you Marissa and happy vet day

And pansy ass pussies like you always have to chime in with your anti American holier than though attitude. Cram it up your ass you four eyed ***.

@metalurg:Before you start to misquote international law,you should become familiar with our own laws..Specifically the CONSTITUTION......The US is NOT a Democracy; it is a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC.Democracy was not even mentioned in our founding father's words. And not all countries in Europe are a democracy.

As a parent of a wounded vet, freedom does not come easy. My son (lost his right arm and severe brain injury) has had to learn to work with one arm and short term memory loss along with the trauma he witnessed. You don't realize what life is like until you have to do without. Watching him care for his young daughter, tie shoes, put a belt on, those everyday things are difficult but not impossible even clapping something we all take for granted. I am touched that my son came home and has the stamina to continue without even thinking about it. We should all be there to support those that have given so much. It has been about 2 and a half years and he is managing with grace. He will be okay but will have a daily reminder of what war has brought to himself, his family, and his country. He like so many does not want pity but recognition that he is appreciated for what he has given. So, just like this young lady, honor their spirit and strength for these are the ones that deserve our support not our pity!

I believe we all (should) want to make this world a safer, better place to be for EVERYONE. We try to get drug dealers out of our neighborhoods and gangs out of our society. We want a more positive future for our children. I am for changing the thought process anywhere that opresses people (especially THEIR OWN PEOPLE!!!!) Thank God for those who are willing to go to Iraq to benefit the PEOPLE of Iraq - and try to protect them from terrorists. Thank God again that there is no draft sending just-out-of-high-school-kids who DON"T WANT to go like they did in Viet Nam. Our troops, every one a hero, have made this a life-choice to do something to change the world in a positive way. Marissa will continue doing that, and has the inspiration because she KNOWS FIRST HAND what we stand to loose in this country if we don't keep trying.

It is Veteran's Day 2007 and some schools are in session and the malls are crowded with people. We are bound to repeat history if we do not learn from it. I hope articles like this cause people to pause at least for a moment from reading about Brittney and say thanks to those who have sacraficed so much for our country. To those who have served our country with integrity, I thank you.
