I don't know if you get tired of hearing it or not. I don't. This woman, like many others, is heroic. And it isn't just because of what she did in Iraq. It is because of how she has attacked life since her return. I have nothing but admiration for anyone, man or woman, military or not, who has serious challenges to overcome in life, but goes beyond the challenge to make something out of what could have been an opportunity to wallow in self-pity.

I am certain that God has a special place for people like this.

I could go on and on... But just look at a Fanny Crosby, or Duke Ellington, Stephen Hawkings, etc. These people are role models - not for the handicapped - but for everyone.

Hi Marissa: I want to tell you the first time I saw the Newsweek article I cried. I hadn't cried over this war until then. I guess it's because I see what it is doing to you and people who are trying to bring peace to the world. Thank you for your good spirits. I have faith in you (you are doing well without my faith, but I keep it just in case for you). When my children wake up today, I will read your story to them again on this Veterans Day of 2007. I'm prior service (11 years Army). I hope to meet you when you come to Ft. Lewis again. I live in Tacoma. My children would be delighted to make your acquaintance also. Sincerely, George J. Hollis, Former SGT, E5, 72E Telecommunications Center Operator, Tactical HUAH!

Glad to see she's doing well. Spent some time in the Army (20 yrs), and at Ft Lewis. All of our returning heros need to know that we are here for them, even if all they need is " Thanks for a job well done". Well, thank you and a big hug too.

I wish Marissa all the best and get the perfect partner in life instead of just the dog. I also hope that everyone will be kind and treat her well. Marissa, continue with your life, always be happy and remember that there people that still care.
