Comment: 2008 Presidential Candidate Weekly Poll

Comment: Forget about Rudy! Now we have Mike Huckaby. He is apparently surging tremendously and surprisingly in the polls and is a dream come true for evangelical Christians when it comes to presidential material. Believe in miracles! Mr. Huckaby will likely win in Iowa and the money will come rolling in for his campaign. From then on it will be smooth sailing to the White House. Hillary's likability is very, very low, particularly among evangelicals. She'll be lucky to get any of therir votes. Hillary will seelf-implode and I say: good riddance.

Comment: 2008 Presidential Candidate Weekly Poll

Comment: The author does not bother to ask why these so-called power brokers are all supporting different candidates. Could it be that these religious folks are savvy enough politically (but hypocritical spiritually) to support different candidates so the Christian vote will be divided and Mrs. Clinton will be elected? Then, for the next 4 to 8 years they will be able to raise money from gullible Christians as they unite against her. It seems to be a ploy to divide the vote and make money for their so-called Christian organizations. Shame on them!

Comment: I really appreciated this article. All of you who have commented and have mixed ideas about "religion" or christianity in this country don't really understand it's meaning. It's not even really about Giuliani. It is meant to say that politics are a hard area for Christians, young and old, to deal with because of the way our government is set up. These three men discussed all had previous ministries before becoming involved in our nation's politics, and I believe they chose to become involved because they thought they could make a difference. Obviously they can't all be right about everything, and maybe sometimes Mr. Robertson gets too caught up in different things, but I think they're trying. I do agree with the C.S, Lewis quote about "heaven minded" Christians making the biggest differences, but I think these men have made a difference for the next generation and will be rewarded in heaven someday. I think true Christians have to and want to fight for morality and we'll all do what we believe God would have us do to accomplish this.

    Comment: EVANGELICAL FLOCKING BEHAVIOR

The article is correct in some regards: It???s not surprising, for instance, that self-anointed loony tune preacher Pat Robertson ???----- clearly suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's ------ endorsed Rudolph Giuliani. Lest we forget, it was Robertson who publicly blamed 911 on ???gays.??? It was also he who suggested the United States assassinate Hugo Chavez.

Giuliani? Here???s a guy who???s actually proud he served as mayor during a catastrophic, terrorist attack on his city. Then, in the aftemath of 911 ------ instead of focusing on the logistics of coordinating police, fire and rescue services ------- Giuliani???s primary concern was for his own safety and attending Yankee games.

On Dobson, the article displays some naivet??: Dobson, whose inerrancy in parenting matters is apparently sanctioned by God, has earned a position of considerable, if disturbing, gravitas among the pantheon of self-canonized savants. In his ???Dare to Discipline??? book, Dobson says ???Spanking should be of sufficient magnitude to cause genuine tears.??? Dr. Dobson is certainly no moderate, as the article suggests. The American Kennel Club no longer endorses corporal punishment in training practices. Not so Dr. Dobson.

Billy Graham is the least offensive, for my money: He???s avoided major scandal and has written no child hating books I???m aware of.

Comment: Robertson has a history of odd and disturbing public statements on issues from the causes of hurricanes to the assassination of foreign leaders.
Really? Check out Operation Mongoose on the internet. JFK and RFK plotted to kill Castro. The plot (including lacing his cigars with LSD) failed, but not through lack of trying.

Comment: The religious whackoism in America these days is the same as having our own Taliban. Aside from being basically good people but pathetically ignorant, they are very dangerous. And this is the 21st century????

    • Posted By: Tommypie @ 11/25/2007 6:46:26 PM

Comment: Have you taken lectures from Rosie O'Donnell? She is claiming that Christians are as dangerous as Jihadists who blow up children along with themselves. Regarding Christians in this country, it is free for all to attack, humiliate, belittle and destroy them. But don't ever dare say a derogatory word about gays, for example. Then all hell would literally break loose! And the Christians would lay bleeding by the wayside with nobody to care. But God, He will have the final word in all matters!

Comment: If their where a God who where to have the last say, I would assure you the three unwise men mentioned in this article would surely burn in hell. Luckily for them and for all of us, their beliefs are absurd as their politics. As far as Christians being persecuted while gays are given a pass I might remind you of your priests who have been raping children for generations whilst hiding themselves behind your bible.

Comment: If tommypie's assumption is correct, I think it is extremely ignorant of Robertson to assume that Giuliani is the best candidate to beat Hillary. (I'm voting for Ron paul, but I also believe Romney and Huckabee are better candidates than Giuliani.) Giuliani is a fraud with no qualifications to be the next president. I will allow Rudy to respond: "9/11, 9/11, 9/11, terrorists, 9/11, terrorism, 9/11, 9/11." Thanks for that insight Rudy.

Comment: We've been waiting for years for God to punish Disney World for having a "Gay Day" and to punish that Pennsylvania town whose name I can't recall for teaching evolution. This despite being ordered by Pat Robertson to strike these places. Meanwhile the Bible Belt and the old slave states continue to be struck repeatedly by floods, tornadoes and hurricanes. It's obvious that God doesn't listen to Pat Robertson; it would be a good idea for Evangelical Christians to do the same.

Comment: Interesting idea, but probably the wrong God. I bet it's Allah blasting the rednecks, whilst Jesus is wandering around in Torah Bora looking for Osama! I bet we are all just pawns in the battle between dozens of Zealot Gods, and if so my money is on Thor, cause he has a really cool hammer.

Comment: Pat Robertson is pro-life and pro traditionakl family. By endorsing Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Robertson is most likely chosing the lesser of two evils. Having Hillary in the White House is anathema to any sound minded, thinking person. We will see if anyone can defeat the Hill-Bill political machinery. It will be quite an endeavor, but I believe it can be done and will be done. So be it, Amen and AMEN!!!

Comment: Tommypie probably voted for George W. Bush...twice, and he thinks those of us who support Hillary are weak-minded and unthinking. Amusing to say the least.

Comment: I have never cared for the scandal plagued Clintons, but compared to the Christian Fascist lunatics in this article and their absurd pursuit of Armageddon that is at the core of their beliefs, the Clintons would be preferable. At a minimum I want a president who doesn't believe the destruction of the Earth is preordained is some absurd book. I mean for crying out loud, these lunatics are actually hoping that if they believe real hard, the baby Jesus might bring them an Armageddon for Christmas.

Comment: Wishful thinking! The term "Social Justice" is Progressive jargon for welfare, affirmative action and pouring money into failed schools. None of these programs will ever help the people they purport to serve : the poor, low-income minorities, inner city children. But real justice - such as school choice for example - and teaching the truth about "life choices" is very important to young Christians. Since Rudy is very strong on school choice, I think he will appeal to a lot of young Christian voters.

Comment: There is no way in Heaven or on God's green earth that Dobson would support the paternalistic social worker state of Hillary. So unless he wants liberal supreme court justices to replace Ginsberg, his words are but sound and fury amounting to silence.
