Comment: interesting, especially for those who believed the many "scandals". This looks like smart politics to me. I hope it pays off for them. I finally decided to back Hillary, and this only supports my choice. She is smart and an astute politician. Being an astute politician is not synonymous with being a "corrupt" politician.

Comment: Oh, now, now, kids. Can't we all just get along? Isn't it a good thing that people can change from hate to love?
And not to go off-topic, but just think what another 8 years of Clintons will bring... It'll add up to 12 years of Bushes, 16 years of Clintons that uh, equals 28 years of U.S. leadership by only two families. Which makes me think, while the Clintons will be judged as having done a better job, it's an absolute necessity for someone else to take charge.

Comment: tman07. It must really be lonely being a Neocon with nothing but the arrogance and sarcasm left. It's just too bad the change in the White Out House can't get new leadership to become once again the White House. Your party will have a long long time to rethink their ways and another generation to forget how corrupt and evil they have been. As is what you blogged.

Comment: The Clinton's probably set him up with a woman and taped it to keep him quiet for Hillary's wann-a-be presidential run

Comment: Now that Scaife is being widely mocked in the media for his current divorce proceedings perhaps he realizes what his personal vendetta did to America. When the undeservedly wealthy have no other hobbies but to throw stones at others, we end up with the media's perverse fascination with the Clinton family, which cost them their illusion of credibility. Imagine what a vindictive person could do with the resources of the Federal Government now that the Bill of Rights is suspended.

Comment: When your enemy starts to forge alliances, there???s got to be a good reason. If you want to be a winner, Vote for the winner.

A forgone conclusion; Are right wing conservatives cozying up to the most likely candidate to win the presidency? http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=954

Comment: Diplomacy is always a good idea...hearts and minds are not changed in a vacuum and who better than Bill to change people's minds. We can only hope for the best on both sides to do what is best for the nation and our beleaguered standings both at home and in the world.

  • Posted By: qdallen @ 11/12/2007 9:33:29 AM

Comment: Prematurely concluding all is evil in such a meeting is simply neurotic and rather stupid. If future policy reviews on the campaign trail reveal giving in to right wing thinking, then we can be justified in condemning the Clintons. But, until then, let the evidence accumulate...don't make it up.

Comment: Very admirable for BC to even be in the same room with those people. I lived in DC during the Clinton years, and it was not the fringe press who printed all the accusations and dirt Scaife paid for--drug running, real estate swindles, and even murder. They got major press and Scaife definitely got his money's worth. I don't think I would have it in me to forgive years of persecution by someone with no intellectual credentials, but tons of money to pay people to make things up. I guess that's why the Clintons are where they are. They are apparently willing to dance with the devil.

Comment: You are correct that most of his investigations amounted to nothing, but I don't recall the press ignoring them. Usually you would cover your ass by waiting for something like the Pittsburgh Tribune Review (Owned by who? Richard Mellon Scaife? What a coincidence!) to publish the article and then you could report on it now because it was a story, it was "out there". Way to be responsible!

Comment: Hillary Clinton has learned from her experience as first lady what Bill Clinton learned after he lost the Democratic majority in the House and Senate in the 1994 election: Getting things done in Washington for ordinary people requires concensus and compromise, and one cannot expect to get everything they would prefer. The best one can hope for is to make incrimental progress and get things rolling in the right direction.
Call it triangulation, call it being poll-driven, but moderation is usually the most effective course of action for getting things done. After awhile, what was once extreme, becomes mainstream. e.g. Social Security

Comment: Like many politicians, the Clintons will accept money from just about anyone who is offerring it. The dollar trumps principles for these characters.

Comment: Hillary's views on Health Care, Education, Medicare, Social Security and most other issues suit me just fine. This stuff about flip-flopping or playing both sides of issues is a bunch of Rove-style gargbage. Keep your eyes on the real issues, and Hilary is most likely to succeed getting results for ordinary and challenged Americans.

  • Posted By: MartinBensky @ 11/11/2007 5:40:50 PM

Comment: Whatever dirt is raised about Hillary, and whatever nonsense Karl Rove, et. al. come up with about flip-flopping or triangulating, etc, my bottom line is that her views on the things that matter to me parallel my views. She might even be a smart enough politician to make things happen when she is president.

Comment: Should we look for Shaife-funded news/opinion outlets to begin smearing Hillary's rivals? Or are we seeing that already: Edwards dismissed as a "populist" and too handsome to be president; Obama as a "rookie" who disrespects the flag; and so on?

Comment: Sorry kalpal, you need to go back to school. Or maybe you are in an area of the country that is concealing Dennis Kucinich from the masses! HE is the one who shines ethically, that's why he is being dissed. He HAS stood firm for the right ethical path no matter the cost to him.He would ruin the great corporate profit run if elected! Hillary would enable them. SHe DID sit on the board at Walmart! SHe would still funnel profit to the health care middle men.
Bill is responsible for the NAFTA disaster. HE SIGNED IT, thus impoverishing Mexican Farmers and causing them to immigrate North to survive, taking jobs from Americans.

Comment: This clearly amplifies the differences between the Clinton Style and the Bush style. Bush will not speak with anyone whom he considers to be opposed to him. In a matter of speaking this explains America's declining fortunes in this world. Bush wants YES men around him to the exclusion of all else whom he can't extort. Clinton will make peace and make progress as necessary. The Bush administration will the most colossal faillure of the 21st century with the posssible exception of a potential Giuliani adminstration.
While I am not crazy about Hillary, the GOP has failed to come up with anyone who can best her intellectually and ethically. Lack of ethics and morals is the hallmark of the GOP's candidates. Ron Paul who is not a Republican may be the sole exception but he will be destroyed by the GOP if he appears to make any forward progress. If there is anything Republicans hate, it is a person willing to tell the truth while in power.

Comment: How soon will Mrs. Clinto's coffers are overflowing with donations from avowed Right-wingers - the like of Messrs Scaife and Ruddy?

I wager we shall not be waiting for long. She presents the best candidate in the circumstances. GBS.

  • Posted By: Bernard_Shaw @ 11/10/2007 11:28:34 PM

Comment: How soon will the donations to Mrs. Clinton arrive.
Is it not the strategy of the Right to push for Mrs. Clinton as an acceptable candidates - seeing that she offers precious little challenge to their imperial control than Mr. Bush himself?
