This is crazy!!!!! When did the rights of the convicted become more important than the rights of the victims?? I am ALL for the death penalty. I think if we went back to public executions we would see a dramatic drop in the crime rates.... The rapist, murderer, child molester, etc., did not worry about how cruel and inhumane his treatment of his victim was; why should we worry about the way they are treated?? I say if there is an eyewitness, DNA, or other irrefutable proof. Hang 'em, fry 'em, or inject 'em no questions ask and get it over with. Then maybe we will stop seeing all the murder and mayhem we are seeing right now.

    • Posted By: gagnat @ 11/13/2007 10:01:05 AM

I agree 100%. Never once did these criminals think of their victims and the horror they must have felt those last few moments of their lives. I also say hang'em, fry'em or anything else you'd like to do and for those sitting in prison take away the airconditioner t.v, and all the other luxuries and put them back out there working slinging grass everyday and our problems of over crowed prisons will be taken care off.

    • Posted By: commuterdog @ 11/12/2007 3:46:03 PM

Nor did he worry about the death penalty!!!!! It doesn't deter crime!!!! It never did and never will!!!! It's been on the book for centuries and people still commit capital crimes!!!! We have crooked cops that would plant DNA evidence, We have "Eyewitness" testimony proven to be wrong!!! It's not about the criminals rights. It's about the flawed system!!! Death is final and if you put to death an innocent , then our system has failed!!! Which we all know it has!!!! Countless people that have been convicted of crimes are being released, because the system failed them and they were not guilty!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: ruger14 @ 11/12/2007 3:39:53 PM

      I totally agree!!!

I strongly believe in life imprisonment ... we are living in the "enlightment" era so why the hate, revenge and barbaric punishments? Regardless of the way the crime had been committed taking a life for another does not equal to making it right for a closure. This is another murder but done in the court of law and witnessed by families of victims. Does this justify an eye for an eye?! The system and the courts realized that many guilty on death row have been exonerated of their crimes through DNA. Moreover, life imprisonment is harder punishment than doing a quick one with the death penalty. Maybe we should not judge too quick or think that the death penalty is the solution to solve high crime rate or the manner which it was committed when (at the moment) our emotion was on "high". This is a compassionate nation not a murderous one which do away with criminals in the most barbaric ways and making it a public spectacle like in some Mid East countries and Asia.

What ever happened to An Eye for an eye?!. To often these groups complain about what kind of pain and unusual punushment these prisioners go through!. BULL CRAP!. WHAT KIND OF PUNISHMENT IS LEFT FOR THE VICTIMS THEY LEAVE BEHIND!. RAPE MURDER. MOLESTATION OF CHILDREN BEATING TO DEATH AND IT GOES ON AND ON!. VICTIMS ARE LEFT WITH THESE CRIMES AGAINST THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES AND THEIR FAMILIES!. When are these people going to pay for what they do?!. And then we HAVE to PAY FOR THEIR SCHOOLING IN SIDE MORE BULL!. COLOR TV!. EDUCATION THEY RECIEVE FOR FREE!. WHEN WE ARE TAXED TO DEATH AND CHARGED AN ARM AND AN LEG FOR EDUCATION. MORE AND MORE CRAP!. WHEN ARE HONEST PEOPLE GOING TO BE CREDITED FOR LIVING CRIME FREE!.

So now we are bound by the laws of a Baylonian Dictator named Hamurabi, who violently ruled his land as a self apointed god appoximatley 3800 years ago? Before Christians try the scripture routine they had better make an effort to be better informed. "Lex Talionis" as a theory of law assumes the DIVINITY of the state, and is clearly illegal, immoral and archaic. Either it is immoral to kill, or it is not. If it is ever acceptable to kill, whom among us shall be given the power to determine who is or is not worthy of life? While I agree prisoners have far to many costly luxuries, the same principal could be rationally (and actually have been) applied to anyone on welfare, social security, or any other form of public support.

  • Posted By: corso @ 11/13/2007 7:37:42 AM

only individuals are allowed to feel all the disgust and repulsion for a bad crime. NOT THE STATE. it's a legal issue. .the state cannot be allowed "to feel". cannot have revenge. cannot kill. therefore NO capital punishment.

should have to prove beyond a shadow of doubt,,not just reasonable doubt ,so no mistake. then execute right away ,say within 90 days. and bring back guillotine , no pain ,absolutely instant. it come down swoosh,,clunk,, head roll off on floor ,you dont feel nothing ,you gone ,have convict mop up floor and you all done,,Next?

Child rapists and molesters can not be rehabbed. They should be killed.

I am very supportive of the death penalty no matter if it is hanging, lethal injection or if it is done by gas chamber....... As one stated earlier, they do not think or care when they are raping and murdering someone's child, they don't care when they place the child in a plastic bag and let them suffocate! Why should we worry how inhumane that they lethal injection is. As one posted, let the family of the victim do it or make a person in prison do it to them. On or not on death row, I don't care who does it but why take the chance of letting them get out to do it again? Why run up the tax payers money to keep them in jail, getting 3 meals a day off of OUR hard earned money, just because the defense attorneys want to fight it?! Who cares, if it were their kid how would they feel? Would they want the person still alive, and how you suppose the defense attorney would feel to know they had another lawyer defending their child's killer?!! It goes back to not raising the child right and how you let the child come up. The man that killed 9 yr.old Jessica M. Lungsford, they defense was well he too was abused as a child, so let's not give him the death penalty! WHATEVER! PLEASE! My gosh. To think my child can be abducted, kidnapped, raped, molested and the man get off!!! That's where I would murder him myself! Then would I too be able to get off???? It's ridiculous how we allow these convicts (99% are all 2,3,4,etc. time offenders) deride our justice system and make a mochary out of us all!!!
I wouldn't care about the race or color either. If you do the crime, get the lethal injection. Damn the time! Why should they get the time when hey, their victim doesn't have any time anywhere on this earth???????????

      angel4justice.....You are absolutely right...

    • Posted By: SMR1027 @ 11/12/2007 4:40:48 PM

So do you believe Angel4justice that these petty crime offenders should get a stronger sentence or are you talking about all of them or just ones that have murder charges, please clarify. I would like to know.
Sorry its getting late in the evening.

      • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 5:15:23 PM

I am talking about these men that do these horrible gruesome things to kids, women and are convicted, they are the ones that should get the death chair no matter what they went through as a child.

Now someone who has gotten into trouble once and it's stealing beer from a store or gas NO I wouldn't say then "give em' death" but if one keeps on and keeps on and is convicted or admits to it, yeah that is when I do agree with death penalty. Thanks for asking! I say or feel it should be stronger sentence on the bad ones, life to the murderers!

What I disgusts me more that the death penalty, is the number of right wing so called Christians who proclaim themselves "pro-life" yet support the death penality. If you are pro-life, then be pro-life in all situations, do not kill the unborn, do not kill people on death row and do not kill in war. As far as I can tell, the only people with any pro-life credabilty are the Quakers.

    • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 5:48:43 PM

OK Alaska girl, let me educate you on these choice of words you so strongly are adiment about using. I am pro life. I don't want a whore to spread her legs and have an abortion in 2 months just because she didn't mean to get pregnant oh but it happened after 8 drinks and he looked good the night before.

Secondally, do you even know how they kill those babies when they abort them? They stick a needle into the brain and suck out the brains until the head collaspses. OK that's one way! It's just a money making scheme for people to make easy fast money once a mess up happens too.

Third of all, if a man takes an innocent child and cuts her head off after sexually assaulting her repeatedly, then yes I want him to have the death penalty! I can be pro life and support the death penalty. This is how, I just explained it.

Stay in Alaska girl, get more educated and then try to brance out! Get educated on the topics first, ok.?
And for the war comment you so boastfully made, GET THIS:
IF WE WERE NOT IN THERE, THEY WOULD BE HERE! REMEMBER 9/11!
UM.... FREEDOM ISN'T FREE SO BEFORE YOU BASH MY TROOPS OR THE WAR, UNDERSTAND WHY THE HELL WE ARE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE DAY 9/11 IS WHY, THEY ATTACKED US. HELLO?

My gosh at the ignorance. I have got to go but I will be back soon if I get the chance............... Thanks alaska girl for reminding us of our fighting troops so that we may have FREEDOM to live in a world where left wings want the world to not ever stablize!

Oh come on now,,what would you suggest? Let these murderers walk among us? What if it was your child,,kidnapped and murdered,,or a family member,,then I think you would have different idea,,people like you need to rethink the situation,,apparently you have never been a victim of a crime ,or known anyone who has

I agree with the witchnurse!!!! Let them rot in hell!!! Our prison system!!!!!!

    • Posted By: swoods03 @ 11/12/2007 12:56:40 AM

lets see, no taxes, free cable and air conditioning, free meals...not too bad of a deal...i think i should get free cable and air conditioning OH and a nice work out room...but then again, i havnet committed any crimes worthy of jail...

if prison was just a hole in the ground with slop thrown down for murderers to eat, then yes, let them rot there...as long as they have beds and pillows and blankets, and again, heating/air and cable, FOR free, its not too bad a deal...beat the crap outta someone, rape someone, murder someone, and you don't have to pay taxes for the next 10 years and get free stuff...not too bad...

      • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 5:41:25 PM

Yeah they can see or talk to family anytime. They get good meals. No taxes or anything to pay. They have tvs to watch, they play ball, work out....... They get it better than the free man, the tax payer! You are right! not to mention, that's why some do things wrong, maybe.. who knows why these maniacs act out in such a manner as to kill?! I mean, if jail was JAIL and not a fun haven for these guys then maybe they would think twice before doing something heinous and permanent! Death is def. permanent and can't be undone. No matter how sorry they feel when they are on trial! Hey, it's done then!

      • Posted By: witchnurse1 @ 11/12/2007 1:03:10 AM

There is no air conditioning, cable or work out rooms where I work. The food isn't fit for my dog either.

I remember back at school, there was a guy who was different to many of us, we taunted him, teased him and made his life hell. I got to know the guy, and he was a really nice guy, but society and the bullies of this world put into him an anger and hatred which was not of his own making. He was born into this world just like I was, only under a different star, and instead of finding loving and caring friends he found people who
taunted him, bullied him and basically made him into a moinster. Fortunataly, he took his own life before he could vent his anger at the people who today are so rightoes about the death penalty. We need to look further than simply the killer - WHO MADE THE KILLER. More often than not WER are the guilty ones and not the actual killer. This is reality and if we want to be honest with ourselves we have to admit that we are as guilty as the guy who has been put oin death row.

    • Posted By: Beau de Malte @ 11/12/2007 1:53:35 AM

I would really like someone out there who is pro-death penalty to see my two posts and lets get started on a serios discussion. Please give me some solid arguments to convince me that the death penalty is always the right way.

      • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 5:38:29 PM

Beau de Malte, just read some posts, there are plenty of reasons the death penalty should be MANDANTORY!! where are ya' from, if ya' don't mind me asking?!

  • Posted By: sundrips @ 11/12/2007 1:27:13 AM

If you kill then you shall be killed

    • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 5:35:16 PM

Agreed! Thanks for the input, I am glad to know people are into justice!

  • Posted By: Parole4A @ 11/12/2007 12:58:46 AM

Yes let's keep them alive at $35,000 a year while the people they murdered lie in the ground, the famlies and children of the murdered victim suffer. and continue to pay taxes to keep the person who murdered their family member continues to live . If a person is sentenced to 30 years for Murder he or she can get out in 15 years or less .when does the victim get out of the grave? Yeah vote for a 30 year sentence cost the tax payers $100,000.00 when the victim if not killed could have paid $100,000 in taxes to help the community. Why is a killers life more important than the person he killed ?

    • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 4:57:46 PM

      WELL SAID, THANK YOU PAROLE4A!
      GREAT POINT!

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:28:15 AM

You're absolutely right! What is this warped concern over killers?
Not that welfare is wonderful........but............so many people complain about how much is spent to support a single parent with children on welfare, yet these same people don't seem to complain about supporting killers for most of their lives.

  • Posted By: kaeppda @ 11/12/2007 1:53:41 AM

Utah has the best method - the Firing Squad. It's quick and does the job, and you can charge the estate of the convicted person for the bullets.

    • Posted By: Angel4justice @ 11/12/2007 4:50:52 PM

That's awesome! I liek UTAH for the example they are setting and I bet they do not have the trouble and crime there like ones without a system does! I am proud to know. And to the one that said if you raise your kids liberated they are better than religious people and conservatives that is a ridiculous statement no that was not what you said verbatim but yes that is the gist of it and I think that is ignorance speaking aloud. I totally disagree with it and think it's crazy talk. If you teach your children to be liberated, they are open to everything, and with them being daughters I can see why they are not bad people as opposed to men!!

I will leave this discussion laughing at the thought of Hee Haw. Well done.

  • Posted By: William.Demuth @ 11/12/2007 4:28:30 PM

Can we all agree that when we finally have proof innocents have been executed it will be time to end this barbaric tradition? One thing I am waiting for is when one of these poor SOB's who where railroaded in a rural part of this country to seek vengenance. Can you imagine an older black man aqquited by absolute DNA evidence after twenty years seeking vengance against the all white jury that sentenced him to death in haste because they where in a hurry to catch the Hee Haw special on one of them new fangled TV's? Then imagine a jury of his peers aqquiting him due to the special circumstances. Would make many of us realize justice is only as fair as those who administer it!

  • Posted By: djgirl78 @ 11/12/2007 4:05:49 PM

I don't agree with the death penalty in every murder case. That being said, anyone who has not problem torturing and murdering a person, especially childre, should be put to death. I understand extremely strong evidence should be required to put a person to death, but as far as it being humane, why should it matter. The person sentenced to death did not worry about how humanely they treated their victims. Nor did they give their victims a chance to live no matter how much they pleaded. Now, if it is too dificult for the prison guards to "torture" a person sentenced to death, maybe the victim's family should be offered the chance, or allow an inmate who is not on death row to do it...Or better yet, force an inmate on death row to do it, so that they know what they're in store for. Some of the murderers on death row have done that kind of psychological torture to their victims, so let them see what that can really do to you. I have no regard for human beings who feel justified in torturing and killing another human being "just because they felt like it."

    • Posted By: SMR1027 @ 11/12/2007 4:22:40 PM

I totally agree with you, again I believe there should be a seperate penetentry system. I do know and I did not mention this before I would not want to participate in any death. When I asked my son's father who also has a record. How would you feel " God forbid" if someone would take our son's life or put an murder on you that you did not committ " God Forbid" ~ What would you do. He said he would want that person to have justice~ on all levels. Remeber people that there are people who will do the time that did not commit the crime or afraid to man up and speak up. Face it our county can be backwards if you read below at my situtation. Thank God it was not worse and fate, karma whatever you want to call it does come back at you. Lets have MSN read this , now folks and take it to the politians. AGAIN another member did say its important to vote and call on your local representives.

  • Posted By: Flanders @ 11/12/2007 4:12:38 PM

Thus is the problem. Murder isn't enough, the circumstances should matter? We kill people who kill people because we think it is justice, but our thoughts and feelings get too involved to look at the real solutions to the problems. We just want a quick fix, and many times understandably so. I can't imagine how I would feel if someone I knew and loved was murdered. I'm sure I would be affected by our human condition and naturally want retaliation worded as justice or closer. But I don't think the person that killed my loved one being put to death would make life fuller for me in the long run.

  • Posted By: tellis_williams @ 11/12/2007 3:54:58 PM

Curious and Ruger, let's get some facts in. First, The victims have never had a right to kill. It's the state that has that reserves that right. Two, Given the often racist nature of the criminal justice system, there are too many people who have been convicted on faulty, or the incorrect analysis of evidence. i.e. DNA, Eyewitness, etc.... The death penalty has never really stopped anyone from committing a murder. Most murders are actually committed in the heat of the moment. By the way, Ruger. You would have to be a complete idiot to say that race has nothing to do with it. In spite of hundreds of years of evidence to the contrary. You would have to completely ignore evidence that has come in shear volumes. But I understand, that is probably the only way you can sleep at night knowing what your ancesters did, and what you still benefit from today.

    • Posted By: ruger14 @ 11/12/2007 4:09:11 PM

Your right, race has something to do with it, because of people like you who always need to revolt to hundreds of years of evidence. If people (such as you) would start dealing with the here and now and actually look at what's wrong with society, (instead of what color you are) ,and why we have more killers on our streets now than every before you might actually agree. It all comes down to parenting!
Back on the topic: People who take other people's life should not be allowed to breathe our air. If it's been proven without a doubt....execute them!

  • Posted By: djgirl78 @ 11/12/2007 3:58:51 PM

I don't believe every murderer should receive the death penalty. That being said, those murderers who commit vicious, heinous, and torturous crimes should be sentenced to death. Those who murder and/or rape a child should be sentenced to death. For people like this, it is only fair that their death be torturous. If that's too hard on the prison guards performing the execution, get an inmate who is in jail for life because they didn't torture their victim and let them do it. Why should we care about how cruel and unusual a [unishment is for someone who had no qualms with torturing and murdering his/her victims? The person on death row did not give his victim an opportunity to live. They had no regard for another's life or how they spent the last moments of their life, so why should we care about them. Maybe if these criminals didn't have an automatic appeal and they knew they wren't going to sit in jail for at least five years waiting for their appeals to go through and possibly not get death, but be waiting on our tax dollars and getting three meals a day, cable, and constant exercise for possibly the rest of their life as a mere technicallity, then maybe the death penalty might actually deter crimes. Then again, a sane person wouldn't even think of murdering and torturing someone.
