The death penalty should be continued by lethal injection. It is sometimes a punishment of justice.

    • Posted By: commuterdog @ 11/12/2007 3:01:08 AM

      Sometimes it's murder too!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: christopherkidwell1 @ 11/12/2007 2:25:22 AM

kamerican, that is all well and good..... until you realize that most murderers who are released do not murder anyone else ever again in their lives.
Secondly, we should NOT put the threat of death in front of a criminal, because it is not our place as equals to that person (yes, we are equal even to the most heinous mass murderer) to decide whether he has outlived his usefulness on this planet.
When I witnessed the beheading of the PoW's recently, I didn't want those people dead. I wanted them caught, put into the coldest darkest cell on the planet for the rest of their lives, because killing them would just be sending them into the next life on this planet...... not something that I want to do until a person realizes that they did not have the right to kill that other person.
Thirdly, even if it was my DAUGHTER OR LOVER..... I would still not support the death penalty. I would support putting that person in the prison if he was found guilty of killing them, not killing them because it is again, not my place or anyone else's to decide who lives and who dies.
Fourthly, 99% of the murderers in this country are connected with the drug trade. If we would make that legal, and allow people to grow their own drugs in their own homes..... BOOM! No more murderers or at least a signifigant number would not happen.

Holy sh__! I hope you're in some kind of therapy!

It makes me ill when people say they are Christians, and then say they support the death penalty. No-one has the right to put another person to death. We will all be judged by how we judge others. STOP CONDEMING PEOPLE TO DIE! it is utterly barbaric, and there is no justified reason. NONE.

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:36:18 AM

I didn't hear you say ONE WORD for these killers' victims!

      • Posted By: Browneyes6 @ 11/12/2007 2:13:18 AM

Nor did widget,,maybe he or she has a relative on death row,,naturally he or she would not think of the victims

        • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 2:21:14 AM

What? All I care about is the victims!

  • Posted By: kamerican63 @ 11/12/2007 2:19:15 AM

Perhaps we have become a nation of pacifists. If we allow that crimminal to live we had first better find out if he is truly sorry for that crime he commited; if he is not then he will not suffer in his lifetime. How many times do we have to let a murder go free to figure out that he will kill again. I do not know if the threat of death for a hanious crime has an impact on a crimminal but I believe we should still put it before them. I also wonder about the public . When we witnessed the beheading of Prisoners of war by the radicals, how many of us at that moment wanted those radicals dead, I did. To terminate a convicted crimminal is not murder. try to imagine that the victim is your Mother,Brother, sister, wife, or child . Does that old biblical verse Eye for eye tooth for tooth flash through your mind . I know that it is written that revenge is mine sayeth the lord. Please don't go soft on these people that commit violent crimes, they do not take responsability for their crimes nor do they respect the law nor anthing else. In war we do not murder the enemy we kill them; criminals are our enemies too.

You scum-bags! you don't know if he took pride in turning down appeals. I support beheadings to deter violent crimes, but you pansywaists on the left think we should find out how we caused them to act this way.! Pathetic do gooders are why the morality levels here are non-existant.

Since everything we do is cruel and inhumane I think they should be killed using the same method they used to commit the crime, gun, sledge hammer, drowning ect. Does that make us no better than the criminal, that is up for discussion but this debate will go on for as long as we have the death penalty

    • Posted By: Browneyes6 @ 11/12/2007 1:57:19 AM

I agree Handyman,,let them suffer the same pain their victims suffered

  • Posted By: kaeppda @ 11/12/2007 1:52:01 AM

Utah has the best method - a Firing Squad. It's quick and efficient, and the prisoner's estate can be charged for the bullets.

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:54:46 AM

      Wow! That's efficiency!

  • Posted By: commuterdog @ 11/12/2007 1:35:02 AM

Widgit says it's not a deterrent because we aren't killing them quick enough. Got nothing to do with quick enough!!!!! They hung em the same day in the old west!! Didn't stop the killin there!!!!! Its got to do with the fact that our judicial system is flawed!!!!! If one innocent man is put to death that is UNACCEPTABLE PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lord knows we've put to death alot of innocents because of our system of justice. The only way to prevent that from happening is to ban the death penalty!!!!! And don't give me the crap about that is acceptable that a few slip through the cracks so that justice is served!!!!!!!! I believe there are alot of people in this world that should never walk the face of it again!!!! However if one innocent dies so we can snuff out those guilty, then the system is no good!!!!!!!!!! Death is final!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:46:27 AM

GREAT IDEA! commuterdog............glad you thought of it? hang em the same day!

      • Posted By: commuterdog @ 11/12/2007 1:51:49 AM

That's right hang em all kill em all let God sort em out!!!!!!!!! Get a life!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: Browneyes6 @ 11/12/2007 1:49:35 AM

The bible says ,an eye for an eye,,these people didnt think about mercy when they were killing,,they didnt think about their victims,,if there were more executions,,then there would be less crime,,these people are hardened murderers,,they were found guilty,,so they should pay,,and if you ask me,,lethal injection is to easy.

  • Posted By: commuterdog @ 11/12/2007 1:48:55 AM

    Bravo jiggaWendy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: jiggawendy @ 11/12/2007 1:38:28 AM

State sanctioned murder is archaic. It is so completely ironic that the bible belt leads the country in executions, certainly not the actions that Christ preached about. It's time for this country to 'grow up' and recognize that there is never a way to be 100% certain that someone committed a crime, no matter what technology we have. Even that fraction of a chance of innocence should cast doubt on the legitimacy of the death penalty. I have no sympathy for those who harm/rape/kill others, they deserve a lifetime of misery. Ultimatly, as an American, I (and most people) are willing to die for freedom because to live without freedom is worse then death. So, a life without freedom is greater punishment than the death penalty and the only real way to punish people who committ such crimes. I'm glad to see we are finally listening to our collective conscious.

hey swoodso3, Get a clue!!!!!!! The people on death row don't have cable and all those other amenities you claim they get. They sit in an 8x8 cell with a stainless toilet and no windows. They are separated from the general prison population. They get one hour of exercise a day in a cage outside. They have limited contact with humans of any kind. So don't make it sound like they have some kind of glorious existence, because they don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:23:53 AM

      commuterdog...what's your point?

      • Posted By: commuterdog @ 11/12/2007 1:44:19 AM

If you read the previous posts, the person I replied to said that these so called people on death row have some kind of glorious exsistence in our prison system. They don't!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: jiggawendy @ 11/12/2007 1:44:18 AM

Wow. And we're the leaders of the free world. Tragic.

if you're religious (which most, if not all supporters, are), you've been introduced to this thing we call The Ten Commandments. Has anyone come across the commandment "thou shalt not kill"? I may have missed it, but I can't remember seeing any side notes, stating "unless court ordered".

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:35:01 AM

Wow. Let's send all the convicted killers to your house. You can put em up and giv em dinner.

    • Posted By: swoods03 @ 11/12/2007 12:27:16 AM

You should try reading throughout the ENTIRE bible...and not just pick and choose what makes your point, its called reading IN context...
If you don't want to know what God says, then don't continue reading, but the scripture i posted basically says that if a government is in power, it was put there by God, and we are to follow the government's rules or face punishment, God doesn't limit the punishment...

Read Romans 13:1-7...Here's part of it : 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

hey javygt94, The death penalty has been around for centuries!!! Guess what??? It hasn't deterred a sole dead set on committing a capital crime!!!!! It never has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It never will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! End of story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Widgit @ 11/12/2007 1:24:36 AM

Maybe we're not doin it quick enough.

99.9% of all murder victims are against the death peanlty. Why don't lawyers protect theM?

  • Posted By: cj_134 @ 11/12/2007 1:30:55 AM

One more thing. Do you want to take the chance or with one of your loved ones that they got rehabilitaed in jail? It's your life on the line too. Do you want to pay for their meals and care for them the rest of their life? Look how many there are! I say we don't execute often enough. A new murder on the news every night. They're turning our streets into the prison system everytime they parol one because let's face it. The prisons are over crowded already.

I do believe in the death penatly for those who comment murder and armed robbery or any other crime.

  • Posted By: DudlyDooright @ 11/12/2007 1:28:08 AM

The Death Penalty for the Guilty is a must. It deters crime, if done correctly. Once the Guilty is convicted, Execution should be mandatory to take place within 72 hours!! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!! It's quick, painless and permanent.
