I miss the good old days of assasination ;(

We will empower this clown now, only to have to fight him later. Wouldn't a cyanide laced turban now, spare us a lot of grief later?

In Ireland you had the same problem, religious beliefs which resulted in a clash of people. In that case you had Catholic and Protestant killing each other for political control, the removal of British military troops, and the inability to settle historical disputes without the use of a gun or high explosives. It took several decades but the violence did cease and now Ireland is one of the fastest growing countries in the European region. The Middle East with is vast economic ability with crude oil reserves fails to provide any base of movement to enter the ideals of modern times. Instead well educated person would rather flock to the ideals and principles of fanatics and "cult leaders" who profuse violence as the only means to promote a true Islamic state. A state which would fail in more ancient times of women with no rights, a strict wahhibist blend of discipline and refusal to adapt with change. Until the seperation of religion and government/state is understood and acted on, the that region will be a constant flashpoint for world conflict and economical instability. Trillions in foreign currency but those nations are still 3rd world standards in living conditions? Saudi Arabia has tons of palaces, expensive taste, and a nation of people who refuse to do any manual labor and thus has a high uneomployment rate among it's own citizens yet hires countless foreign contractors and workers to build and create their country? No wonder that area is the breeding ground second to Pakistan for terrorist recruiting and education.

The fact that the United States has entered Iraq is not the sole reason the majority of the Islamic faith now calls themselves "Muslims" it goes far beyond the idea of crossing the Kuwaiti/Iraqi border. You are correct, everyone has a different opinion and story and I myself have sat among other Iraqis and asked countless questions in Iraq, in downtown Baghdad in Sadr city, any several uncontrollable areas. But the United States is the mere "focal point" for the sheer number of failures that the Middle East creates. One example is Saudi Arabia which proclaims to be a US ally but efforts show more trends to support world terrorism than actually prevent it. Saudi Arabia a strong supporter of Sunni Islamic factions is making sure that the Sunni are not kicked out of Iraq. Syria also is a strong supporter of the Sunni and has no issue with allowing thousands of foreign fighters to move across the border without hinder to carry attacks against US troops and Iraqi government forces. Iran backs the Shi'a and Shi'te. And the Kurds with no real homeland are placed between a rock and hard place. Turkey wants to crush any Kurdish attempts in federalization and would use military force if the Kurds move to control the entire Northern Iraq oil regions of Mosul and Kirkuk. Turkey is a NATO nation and therefore has some pull within the EU community. But the number way that the US is "trumped up" is to blame your own problems on the U.S. Just about every nation in the Middle East does it. This way you can still receive US taxpayer's money and claim a "moral victory" against the "Great Satan" or "Evil Empire". No one really wants to be productive, far to easy to let journalism like Al Jazerra or Al Arabiya paint a doom and gloom picture and promote fanatical causes. Maybe when the Arab community proclaims that killing in the name of God is unlawful and the practice of killing "non-believers" is a sure way not to get into heaven then maybe some good would come. But instead the failures of others are the means to promote ignorance and injustice based on a single religious belief. What the majority of people do not understand is how far the fanatical will go. Yes there are extremist in the US society, but unlike other southwest asia communities we do not allow those extremist to conduct attacks against anyone. A racist group is carefully watched and if an action happens then full judicial procedures would take place. This is hardly the case that you speak of if we are talking about the Middle Eastern region where governmental mosque promote and authorize the use of suicide attacks, killing women, men and children if they are non-Muslim, and the use of terrorist attacks to promote religious changes.

Act like friend. White man will give us billions and arms. Then we say FU.

The word is out kids. Bush and America are suckers.

Bush, Congress and the Constitution of the United States have protected religious freedom. The world is now learning about this so called religion and it is not what they had hoped for. It is a government as ancient as any and is only peaceful when it is a last resort. It needs to go the way of all methods of government that deny equal rights and oppress. Takkiya can't hide evil intentions forever.

You may not be all that far off the mark.

It is starting to look like Mr. Bush gave Lybia a ton of benefits for weapons programs that weren't working and which Lybia couldn't afford. It's also starting to look like Mr. Bush gave (North)Korea a ton of benefits (after forcing them to accept a mere 100% of what they were asking for) for weapons programs that didn't even exist.

Now, Mr. Bush's top allies in "The War on Terror" (President Kharzai and President/General Musharraf) are negotiating like mad with "the other side".

Mr. al-Sadr has, all along, been Mr. al-Sistani's "sock puppet" and negotiating with Mr. al-Sadr is like buying an imaginary pig in a poke that doesn't exist.

Any story has different aspects and it's more important that how you like to look it!!
There are facts , now every body , here and there blame Saddam for its behavior. But it doesn't mean every thing he did was wrong.
I know that people in Iraq was forced to live together. But I have many Iraqi friends that one or two member of their family are sunies or shiatt in Iran, Pakistan or Afghanistan, these two group living beside each other but within crude of different rulers along the history, they've never be mixed with each other. I want to convince you that Iraq,,,,, was the only Muslim country that shiatt and sunies could mix.
For the Islam civilization it's very important. 4 years before you can hardly hear shiatt or sunies in US or Europe they all said Moslem, but now all the people around the world distinguishes between these two. It means big crack!!
Now every body says that US , the looser of the Iraq and they should leave there very soon. In my opinion they are perfect winner.
In any communities you have extremist but this Israel and US provide a good environment for extremist to grow!!!!
It is better to let others kill them selves for your long term benefit!!

The Shi'ite and Sunni problem has never been resolved, which you have seen or read during the last 1,400 years is a history of rulers who used force and extreme violence to instill order and extend control. The only thing Saddam had control over where the people of Iraq by using torture, fear, and the acceptance of killing without any judicial controls. Saddam was a Sunni by birth and religious faith, so 90% of the Iraqi governmental and political seats were given to fellow Sunni members. The Kurds, Turkomans, Shi'a, Jews, Christian, and Shi'ite members were often left with lesser paying employment. The bulk of Southern Iraq (past Baghdad with focus on Al Basrah and below) was left in a terrible state. Poor roads, complete lack of up-grade on water purification and sanitation, but where the Sunni's lived there were modern housing. The United States did not bomb the Iraqi country back into the stone age. The Iraqi government (Saddam, Qusay, and Uday) spent the billions in 48 Presidential Palaces while millions of Iraqi civilians suffered from Post Gulf War regulations. The United Nations which was the supposed overseer of all regulations, and enforcement, failed to provide any control of the billions of dollars used for increasing the Iraqi military and pockets of Saddam and his family and key members of the UN which sat on the Oil for food program. So to answer your statement, to blame the US for the failings of the Middle East is entirely incorrect. The fact that the Iraqi people would rather kill each other than establish a formal government is proof enough that the Southwest Asia region will stay in a non-productive status for some time to come. What the US failed to understand was that the Iraqi people which especially in the Southern region lived more on a clan based structure. As still in ancient times, these specific groups of Arabs continued with the ideals of blood fueds, past wrong-doings, and the inability to allow Islam to transform into different concepts. An example would be if in the US the Southern Baptist decided that if no one believes Christ in the Southern Baptist fashion then they are targeted as a "non-believer" and therefore must be killed. So whether you were Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, 7-Day advocate, etc. if you did not follow the Southern Baptist way then there would be "religious guidance" to commit acts of terror based on religious differences. Same story here but you have countries like Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, and other countries using Iraq as a "seudo-religious" proxy war between specific Islamic clans. Don't blame the US or Israel for the inability of this region's culture to accept change and modern times.

The reason Sadr is keeping his head down is because for a time the US had made it clear that any of Sadr's crew or Sadr himself were fair game to being taken out. Iran controls the actions of Sadr. The bulk of attacks besides the Islamic radicals and wanna be AL QADIA followers were the Mahdi Army (Sadr's militia). Majority of weapons, training, and ammunition were being given from the Iranian military advisors. Iraq is the next proxy war between the United States and Iran. Iran is pushing for political control in Iraq to allow the Islamic hardliners to create a fundementalistic Iraq. Syria is sending Muslims across the world to fight an unauthorized "Jihad" against the United States. All of this ends up as the Middle East gains at $100 dollars a barrel for oil. Money in the trillions are now being spent by Iran to re-arm, train, and provide terrorist groups like HAMAS, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and other anti-US elements the means to carry out attacks against US troops. The real reason that the Middle East is the most backwards area of the world is because their inability to seperate religon and state. Until such a time when the Qu'ran is not used as the sole basis for government then the Middle East will be a region where nothing positive will be created. The only message that is current within that region is kill everyone regardless of race, age, color, or beliefs unless they believe that "there is only one God and Mohammed is his prophet".....etc etc. If you don't believe that then someone would just as easy put a bullet from an AK47 into your skull than attempt to seek a peaceful solution.

Scotsman, posting the same thing four times does not make it four times as true.

BTW, the price of "crude" is set at auctions. You do know how those work don't you? The people who want to buy something just keep on throwing money until everyone but one runs out. The sellers are more than happy to take the highest price offered. Now, let me give you a hint as to how that affects the real world - the people buying the "crude" are the oil companies and (quite frankly) they don't care how much they pay for it because they can (and do) simply pass that cost along to you the consumer (plus their applicable markups for profits, of course).

Inspecting tons of captured weapons used by insurgents in Iraq, the bulk were Iranian made. Iranian made AK47s, high explosives, shaped charges, wireless detonators, ammunition, surface to air missiles, all kinds of high tech weapons. Iranian "advisors" have been captured claiming "diplomatic immunity" even though they were there providing intelligence and means to ship goods across the Iranian border. Whether or not the U.S. should have gone into Iraq is no pointless. Ask the average Iraqi person whether he/she would want Saddam back and they say "of course not" but they have a long list of things they want the U.S. to do before we leave. Saddam let the country go to shambles while he and his family lived the high life. Key leadership in the United Nations received huge kickbacks from the "Oil for Food Program". Kofi Annan gave his son the key position of this program and his son was implicated in mounds of kickbacks. Kofi said he didn't know. Thousands of Iraqi people suffered not due to the U.S. but the fault of Saddam and the lack of enforcement from the UN. UN trucks that were suppose to be used for domestic shipment of medical goods and food stock were used by the Iraqi military to place anti-aircraft artillery and surface to air missile systems on a mobile platform. The amount of information (real information, not the 90 second crap you get from a very bias national news media outlets) you may actually see more to this than what many running for office politicians say. Sure we need to get out of Iraq. But when we leave you can be sure that the power vaccum that it creates will effect the US dollar, oil, cost of living, and the risk for World War Three. If you think that the risk of nuclear option was bad during the Cuban Missile Crisis think again. If Iran gains a nuclear weapons program (which the Iranian President says no but his actions are really saying yes) then the use of a tactical nuclear weapon option will be seriously considered. If not by the U.S. then surely by Israel.
