God help us if Edwards has no chance and if Hillary is a sure thing. The 2008 Presidential race is the Democrats' to lose, an inevitable consequence of Clinton's nomination. Republicans are salivating at the prospect of her candidacy. Iowa gave us Kerry the last time around; "swiftboating" Hillary would be a piece of cake by comparison. Perhaps it's time for a national primary and an end to the Iowa/New Hampshire lopsided influence. As of late their vetting of the candidates has not done the Dems any favors.

I was born and raised in Iowa (Waterloo) and although Edwards will lose there, it hurts my heart that those county Chairs don't stand on what they believe, rather they stand WITH who is in 1st place. This article calls them "Fickle" I think a better description is "Disloyal" and definatley 'Sellout". Shame on thos county chairs-SHAME!

Well I don't go with losers either, and I support John Edwards 100%. So that tells me he's no loser. I think a lot of people are gonna have a lot of egg on their faces when he wins.

In trouble? I think not. If anything more people seem to be noticing him. No thanks to the media. It took the hard nose approach he has taken against Clinton to get him noticed. Those of us who have been holding our breath ,hoping against hope that Hilary will not be our next Democrat nominee. I will never vote for the lady. I loved her husband but felel that she has never really shown the qualities of what being a Democrat is about. Ask Bill Maher.....

Richard Wolffe is one of those empty pudits whose job, apparently, is to make sure John Edwards doesn't win the Democratic primary-He has been saying for a LOOOONG time that Edwards is not viable-I am surprised that he is still on Keith Olbermann's show, when he is such an obvious partisan-as an Edwards supporter I am sick of hacks like Wolffe who are for sale-Edwards was BRILLIANT at the last debate-it is a three-way race in Iowa despite the fact that he has been outspent 2 to 1-Millions of us have noted that corporate media, like NEWSWEEK is not for Edwards-they are terrified of his vision for America-but after the last 7 years of corporatism, the country is raedy and yearning for a leader like Edwards-with reporters like Wolffe, it's not surprising that magazine sales are in the dumper-none of us will pay hard-earned money for propaganda.

    Comment: Goodbye to Mr. Ewards

John, we want to thank you for your service to our country. I believe your contribution to this country has been wonderful and it is time that you call it quit and go to your law practice. The office of the president of the United States for 08 is already occupied by Hillary Clinton. At this time you can support her by being positive.

    Thank you.

    Edwards will win Iowa

It won't be with the help of Newsweek, however, who, along with the rest of the corporate media, has sought to diminish Edwards' campaign. Could this be because these big media conglomerates are scared to death of having a trial attorney in the White House who has fought corporate abuse his whole life? You betcha.

Newsweek is trying to do the same thing to John Edwards that they did to Howard Dean in 2003....but it won't work this time. Why? People all over, Democrats and Republicans alike, are flocking to John Edwards because of his integrity, sincerity, and unwillingness to be part of the corrupt system that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have become players in.

Edwards is doing well in Iowa. He is the only Democrat who has visitted every county and has set up steering committees in each one. Unlike his rivals, he does not bus supporters into events or feed them questions to ask. He is the real deal, and has led on all the issues for working class Americans, long before the others had policy statements on their websites.

Let's remember that at this stage of the game, John Kerry was way behind in Iowa, and Howard Dean was considered a shoo-in back in 2003. I truly believe that this coming January, Iowans will vote for the candidate who represents our best hope of taking back this country for average Americans and ending the strangelhold that big corporations have on our lives. That candidate is John Edwards.

    He has my vote.

The people in Iowa are starting to get it right. John Edwards has done nothing to distinguish himself except attack his fellow candidates. I am glad Ms Dunbar had the wisdom to see that after 4 years Mr Edwards' time has passed and we need a person who can get elected and unite the party.

John Edwards should be Iowa's choice. He is as genuine as one can expect from any politician and he is the only Democratic candidate who appeals to the independent voters who will ultimately decide this election. Senator Clinton turns off all but the Democratic party loyalists and Senator Obama is unlikely to convince any of the middle americans who voted for President Bush to vote for him. A Democtrat with charisma from the South is the bet shot at taking the White House. Its the only formula that has worked for the dems in nearly 50 years (since Kennedy). I hope voters in early primary states aren't seduced by polls of registered democratic voters. When independents are polled Edwards more than holds his own against every candidate in the race. He can actually sway undecided voters. Hillary's numbers are bleak. Remember when Kerry was selected because he convinced the Democratic party faithful that he was the candidate with the best chance of winning. That didn't turn out so well did it?

    Edwards will win Iowa....

Newsweek's constant attempts to trivialize Edwards' campaign remind me of your attmepts to torpedo Howar Dean in 2003...Could it be that the Washington Post Corporation, which owns Newsweek, is afraid of having a trial attorney who has fought corporate abuse his whole life in the White House?

Edwards is the only candidate standing up for working class families and has picked up several major endorsments--Iowa SEIU, Iowa Postal Workers, Iowans for Sensible Priorities, United Steelworkers, United Mine Workers, New Hampshire SEIU, and more than a dozen other major union endorsements. He now has over 3 million union workers behind him. Edwards was also recently endorsed by Friends of the Earth.

The Iowa race is a dead heat right now, and Edwards stands the best chance of winning. Unlike his rivals, he has visited every county in Iowa, and has steering committees in every county. He best represents average Americans with his values and policies, and, once he wins Iowa, he will win it all!

The Iowa dems are getting it right. John Edwards has done nothing to distinguish himself in Iowa or anyother state other than being negative and attacking his fellow candidates. Congratulations to Ms Dunbar to know when she has made a mistake and the conviction to admit it and make a change.

Some of us (apparently a woefully small group) are more concerned about getting the best person available in the White House than we are worried about "going with a loser". If John Edwards surges to the lead in the polls, I'm sure Ms. Dunbar and the other political opportunists will be back in his camp.
No wonder our political system is crumbling...

John Edwards has the leadership of Abe Lincoln, the courage of John Kennedy, the brains of Robert Kennedy, the idealism of Lyndon Johnson, the morals of Jimmy Carter. Why not give him a shot at the oval office? Don't underestimate his ability to come from behind. He has done it many many times in the courtroom. We are lucky to have someone of his caliber willing to run for president. Defectors simply lack the courage to stand for principle in the face of adversity.

Well its comforting to see that Iowa is catching on to what we know in NC. EDwrads is aposeur, a fake, an act, a legend in his own mind. A one term senator who did nothing while senator. Hi current positions are contrived to win Iowa, far different from his positions as a senate candidate in 1998, and prez candidate in 2004. We know him best here in NC and its not surprising he's polling behind Clinton. Unfortunatly NC is not an early primary state, he is however polling at about 9% in SC.

Well its about time the rest of the country caught on to what we know in NC. Edwards is a poseur, a fake, an act, will say and do anything and take whichever side of a position he sees as the winning side. Has no ethics morals, values, or beliefs other than win at any cost. Is anyone surprised he's polling behind HIllary in NC? Just 25% picked Edwards in the most recent NC dem poll,

It is beyond disgusting that party chairs would switch from Edwards to the candidate they think will win. You back the person whose positions you believe in, not the one that punditry says will win. That is a despicable position! And, considering that the media has blatantly ignored Edwards to focus on the "glamour" story of the woman candidate vs. the black candidate, it's amazing that Edwards has the support in Iowa that he does. Maybe if the media were fawning over him the way they are over the other two, Edwards would be leading. And maybe if people in general focused on the candidates' positions instead of name recognition and "celebrity" status, Edwards would be leading. He has by far the most well-reasoned, detailed policies of any candidate out there. Hey, but maybe that's the problem; people want soundbites, not sound policy statements.

Gee, Iowa isn't enthralled with the cradle to grave, raise taxes and gee aren't I a pretty, yet feminine man, candidacy of Edwards?

  • Posted By: dncandme @ 11/12/2007 8:55:33 AM

Another lower tier candidate with no chance. Hasn't been relevent since being waxed by Cheney in the potential VP debate four years ago. Political dead man walking.

Edwards has lost me, too. Not his fault, actually, but rather the fault of his campaign. It just has not capitalized on opportunities the way it should have, and has made some unforgivable gaffs. When it comes to the media, the campaign is naive. And the sad part is that Edwards appears to not understand the problem and shows no signs of making any changes.

  • Posted By: pmorlan1@bellsouth.net @ 11/11/2007 7:00:13 PM

Mr. Wolfe are you really surprised that a couple of Edwards people would leave after you and the folks at MSNBC have consistently either ignored his campaign or run negative stoires? The actual truth of the matter is that Edwards is doing great considering he has gotten little to no national coverage and he just started running ads last week. Obama and Clinton have spent millions and been given free national coverage. I think you are premature in yoru death knell for Edwards. I really hope you have to eat your words come January 3.
