Comment: Thanks I have been wondering about that. It is a great piece of rhetoric, but he shouldn't have that power. Is the bill up for renewal or something that he thinks he can veto it?
He vows to take away congressional health insurance, but presidents can't do that.

Comment: Gees, Can't ANYBODY be honest? I read an article the other day listing Guiliani's lies and exaggerations and it was in double digits. Hillary hedges ALL the time, and everybody else lies, flip-flops and generally all act contemptible... This is all we have to vote for?

Comment: I've never been a fan of edwards, but this is outrageous. I think it disqualifies him for the Presidency. If he's nominated (which is unlikely) , as a federal retiree I may have to vote for the Republican candidate.. something Ihad thought was out of the question. Not only is this unconstitutional, wrong and stupid, but Dem candidates should realize that there are many people in this country who DONT want universal health care coverage.. they consider it 'socialized medicine'. Look at how Congress couldn't override Bush's SCHIP veto. Bye bye, Edwards.
Comment: I too have federal coverage. You are missing the point. He wants Congress to have to live to the same standards as the working people of this country. One thing about Edwards is that he thinks of the working class, not Bush's privilege class. Maybe you should listen to the message more clearly vrs. a gut reaction that has put this country into a spiral. Fear vrs. logic. Learn to be logical.
Comment: Hello, maybe he means that he will use the power of the Bully Pulpit to have the American people demand that their representatives do this work. Imagine having the 2010 election cycle dominated by the Health Insurance pledge, "I will vote to provide universal health care or I will forfit my coverage as a US Representative/Seantor."
Using presidential power means many things not just executive orders!
